After scouring the market for a quality estate sale company, my wife and I decided to go with the first company we contacted. Throughout the entire process, Sandy and Robert were nothing but the most professional people I have worked with in the last decade. Sandy was nothing but helpful and not pushy at all on the phone prior to our signing a contract and once the contract was signed I cannot believe the amount of work that they put into the sale. My parents had lived at this property since 1988 and had inherited "goods" from the passing of relatives over the next three decades. I can tell you that the house was packed to the gills and Sandy and Robert left no stone unturned in that every drawer, closet or cabinet was emptied and the goods were fairly priced. Sandy and Robert are consummate professionals who I was able to trust throughout the entire process. If I had any questions, they responded immediately to my calls. I can understand the hesitancy that people could possibly have with hiring an outside company to sell prized family possessions, but after the experience with Sandy and Robert, it would be a grand mistake to put your trust anywhere else. The hours of hard work that they put into this sale was nothing but extraordinary and the results were fantastic as the proceeds from the sale were far greater that I could have ever imagined. Visited the estate sale on Lake Grove Drive in Yorba Linda today. Heritage Estate Services was handling the sale. Upon parking in front of the home, we were told by the man at the register, that we could not park there. Instead, we had to park in the visitor parking stalls around the block. We moved our car and parked in a visitor parking stall. When I was in the check out line, I observed a car park in front of the home and the man at the register said nothing. A second car then pulled up and one of the Heritage Estate representatives said, you shouldn't park there. As they were turning around to move their car, the lady said, "it's okay, just come in." The man at the register said nothing. The man at the register then proceeded to give me my total and I said, "it's okay, I'm not going to take the items as it's not fair we were told not to park there, but others can." He said, "sorry you hate your life." I then said, "I don't have my life, it's not fair to tell us we couldn't park there. It's not equitable." He raised his voice and stated, "You're one of those people! You're one of them! You're expletive, expletive!" I stated, "What does that mean? That's not professional." As I walked away he then stated, "you're an expletive!" At that point a representative from Heritage Estate Services followed me and stated, "the manager of the manufactured homes community has been giving us so many problems." So I have to say that I've been to quite a few estate sales and some are run better than others. Heritage Estate Services is one company that goes above and beyond. I have been to a few of their sales now and am continually impressed with the time and attention to detail that they offer. It's so much easier to shop when items are grouped together and organized...not to mention clean. I have found the pricing to be more than fair. Watched this guy try to be the sole cashier for a massive estate sale. I understand his frustration but you know, at some point you just gotta hire a second cashier. With his staff sharing that most things were 50% off at the last day of the sale and then going back on that, after many had been waiting more than an hour in line, is bad business. Maybe he was having a bad weekend, that happens. But what can't be forgiven is the swearing at a woman, calling her a B$%# with kids in the room. Do better dude. Robert & Sandy were fantastic to work with. They were in constant communication with us. Our Family's house had a ton of items, like a hoarder house, so they helped clean the house, remove invaluable items and use the home to display items. Threw a way a ton of trash. We made a lot more money at the estate sale compared to going to a pawn shop or garage sale. They even helped sell a vehicle. We were impressed with the results and the amount of people that attended the estate sale. This isn't their first rodeo, so they know how to deal with family members being nosy regarding items of the sale and have a good process in place, so no problems arise. Beware when they say "deep discounts on final day." When I walked in, the lady at the table said everything is 75% off. So, I spent over an hour on Sunday shopping. I went to checkout, and a person sitting next to her said it was 50% off, that the lady had made a mistake by telling me 75%. They did not honor the 75% for me. They are typically overpriced anyway. We highly recommend Heritage Estate Sales. Sandy and Robert helped us through a very difficult time on a very short timeframe, and saved us the task of sorting through our family home, which was very well lived in for 42 years of accumulation. I was very impressed with their ability to sort and organize an entire home in 10 days. They even got up in the rafters of the garage. They were incredibly attentive and communicative throughout our contract timeframe, and they truly kept the process as simple as possible for us. They were able to articulate the rules of the sale very matter-of-factly, which basically entailed staying out of their way as they sorted, priced, and prepped for our two-day sale. I was very happy to oblige them, as I trusted their judgement and experience as professionals in estate sales, a service I previously knew next to nothing about. Their website was updated daily with hundreds of photos they uploaded as they went through and sorted and priced, which made it easy to see their progress. Their pricing undoubtedly maximized the proceeds, and we were very pleased at the final outcome. They were also very attentive with the items that were marked as not for sale. As the sale closed and certain specific items were not sold, Robert checked in with me prior to the Salvation Army coming in to confirm whether I wanted, for example, the dining table set to be donated or not. They left the house in basically exactly the condition I expected, which is to say it was cleaned and emptied very nicely. In such a whirlwind of activity there are bound to be surprises. In our case the only surprises ended up being the items that were neither sold nor donated. They provide an itemized breakdown with the closeout package which shows how items sold in each of twenty categories. Extraordinarily thorough, great communication, and while I am glad I never have to go through with another estate sale, I couldn't ask for a better service than that which Sandy and Robert provided. Sellers should vet a reputable company that secures their home and has integrity. Upon speaking to Robert about a purchase I made . He threw the item and told me to " fuck off " . The level of professionalism was below any sellers expectations. The immature nature in which Robert behaved isn't something that any buyer or seller should have representing them . USE THIS SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK . There are plenty of professional companies that represent themselves and you better . Update : I think it's important to be honest here . First , I spoke to the police officer as I also called the police in fear for my safety. The officer escorted me to speak to you , given your erratic behavior . I informed you that I'd share my experience the community , which I did . The officer picked the item that you threw , up off of the ground . We then spoke about your poor behavior . We discussed how the principal of professionalism is more important than the money . There was no escorting off of the premises . There is simply no excuse for your behavior. You were completely unprofessional. In fact the item that you threw hit another customers windshield. They requested that you remove what you threw at their car . Additionally, as stated I shared the experience on the "neighborhood " chat ... turns out you have quite a reputation for bad behavior towards customers . Several people stated that they avoid any estate sale that you are handling. So I'll say again , be aware of using this service . UPDATE 3/12/14: I am amazed at Sandy's dishonest response below. But perhaps I shouldn't be surprised, considering how she treated me at one of her sales. The patterns were $3.00 each and I asked for a discount price on the entire lot. I did not scream at her nor throw patterns at her cashier, who actually was her business partner, Robert. After paying for the three patterns I selected from the bunch I asked Robert, "Are you on Yelp?" He replied, "No." I replied, "You will be." And I proceeded to write the review that you can read below. Yelpers, two different people have contacted me on this site since I wrote my review. Both told me that they had negative experiences with Sandy, and wished that they had read my review first. Caveat emptor -- buyer beware. **** Would you trust your estate sale to a company that alienates potential customers? I frequent estate sales. It's one of my hobbies. I went to a sale in La Mirada on 5/20 and had the misfortune of meeting Sandy, the owner of Heritage Estate Services. It was the last day of the sale, it was about 20 minutes before closing, and items were 50% off the sticker price. I listened as Sandy made an offer to a gentleman regarding a piece of furniture. She gave him a deeper discount. She then turned to me, and I asked her to make me an offer for an entire lot of sewing notions. She refused to do so, saying that I had to make her an offer. She then proceeded to lecture me about how the items weren't her belongings, and how she was selling them on behalf of a family who really owned the items, and that the prices were 50% off the marked price of $3.00 apiece because she had to do as the family requested. Yet she had just lowered the price of an item for someone else. When I replied that some estate sellers would give me a price when I was interested in a large number of items, she looked at me and said, "I think the price is still a $1.50." Then she proceeded to walk away, laughing, and said, "But if you want to make me an offer, I'm listening!" Isn't the point of an estate sale to sell the most merchandise possible? Wouldn't a family rather sell items at a slightly lower price than to not sell them at all? Sandy was rude, condescending, and unprofessional towards me that day. There are plenty of professional, honest, and polite estate sellers in the area who understand that the goal is to attract and retain customers, not alienate them from making purchases. The good: The numbered cards to get in. The bad: 1. No holding table -- We're professional resellers who go to many estate sales. We are typically encumbered with large piles of merchandise in our hands that make it difficult to continue shopping throughout the house. Most -- if not all -- estate sales have a holding table to accommodate this. It seems it would only benefit them to allow people to continue shopping and be able to set the merchandise down somewhere. They didn't Have any such accommodation. While they did announce this, it's still did not make sense. Annoying. 2. No masks worn by the workers with whom we worked most closely, Including the guy at the cash register. Not cool. 3. As stated, we are resellers with a reseller number. No-mask-cash-register-guy informed us when I was presenting my digital copy told us that only original paper reseller certificates are accepted. He informed us that this is in all of their advertising. While this may be true, it was not posted anywhere on site and, again, was annoying. This is yet another peculiarity not found at any other estate sales. Really? Who carries the paper reseller certificate with them? 4. Clothing: they sell suits as separate items. A skirt and a jacket, for example are not sold as a suit, but as a separate skirt and jacket. Again, annoying and a surprise when you get to the register. 5. Cash only. Again a surprise at the register. But he did tell us it was stated in their advertising. That would be a good thing to point out for all the people in line waiting to get in who maybe didn't take the time to read all the terms and conditions. Any real professional estate sale outfit knows that they lose money by not taking plastic. I'm sure it's their way of playing hide the sausage with the estate owner. 6. Rude. You would think that if you dealt with as many people as they do at each estate sale, they would have someone personal and affable dealing with each person who visited the sale. The no-mask-wearing guy at the register could not have been further from that. He was curt, rude and fairly aggressive in the way he dealt with my wife and I at check out. We also watched at least one other person get pissed off at this guy while we were waiting in line... So it wasn't just us. Not a good face for the company. 7. Odd pricing strategies: We found a pretty cool vintage belt they had no price on it. It was worn and pretty weathered and was not in pristine condition. However, when we asked how much this was Mr. Personality randomly said $9. This, after presenting at least $250 worth of merchandise that we were purchasing. Keep in mind, dresses, pants, blouses and the like were priced between $2 and $6. A further annoyance and no ability to see the pricing discrepancy. Yeah... we discarded it at the register. Sale lost. We'll be sure to avoid this company's future sales. read more

If I could put zero I would. Whenever you go to an estate sale you expect when things are priced, you pay that price. Not here. There's going to be signs all over the house stating prices for things like clothing, sheets, towels, hats, and so on, then individual prices on all other items. But when you go the checkout the a-hole in charge will then jack up the prices on items at his discretion. I'll never return to a sale he has and if you're smart you won't either. I seek out and attend estate sales regularly. I generally tend to not expect much just because of the nature of the type of business it is, and never really mind all too much if I don't find myself in the ultimate shopping experience. However, upon finding myself at a sale put on by Heritage Estate Services in Brea on 4/12, I was beyond impressed. Before I even got to the sale I was able to go onto their website and view a hundred or more pictures of items that would be featured in the sale. Instead of finding everything haphazardly thrown into boxes and in random boxes throughout the home, I found that all items were individually marked and organized in an easy to browse manner. Not only were items easy to look at and find, but the home that sale was held in was incredibly clean. Usually estate sales tend to be dirty and items tend to be covered in dust, not this one. It was obvious that great care had been taken in the presentation of everything. There is a table at the front where you can place items on a hold while you can continue to shop in case your hands get too full, which is incredibly convenient. When I asked Sandy about having Heritage do an estate sale for my family in the future, she was incredibly helpful and understanding and was even willing to go over a few details and appointment times while the sale was going on. Overall my shopping experience was very pleasant. All of the sales associates were very friendly and helpful. I would and will recommend Heritage Estate Services to anyone and everyone. read more

I'd have to say, during a very difficult time for me and my family, dealing with the loss of my father and all, we had a very positive experience with Heritage Estate Services. Sandy met with me at a coffee shop where we went over their services and terms. Robert kept in touch with me regarding specifics of the estate sales and what or what was not to be sold. Everything fell into place as they promised, we made a decent amount back from the sale, everything was cleaned and displayed before hand and when it was all over, this was the best part,, anything left over that didn't sell was hauled away and the house was left spotless! I highly recommend their services, they took care of all of the hard work and made it possible for us to move on having a house with a clean slate to begin rennovation and eventually a sale. I was horrified and I mean horrified by the service I received today, Sunday September 11, 2022, at a sale in Rowland Heights. I am so tempted to file a report and also report this company to the owner of the home and let people know what I experienced. After reading other comments I am noticing a trend. I went to pay for my items, which were in a hand held shopping cart, provided by estate sale company, and the man pulled the cart while I was still holding it. I told him please not to do that again, he can ask me to move the cart I have no problem with that. He then starts yelling and tells me he owns the cart and he can do and move it whenever he wants. I told him you can't if I am holding it you are like assaulting me. He grabbed the cart and told me to leave! (I was flabberghasted!) I asked for his card he said he didn't have one. So I am home now writing this to make others aware, but It appears from other comments that this cashier has a history of unprofessionalism. So upset, I am going to try my best to avoid this company and spread the word about my experience. read more

When my mother passed away last summer, Sandy and Robert seemed like a perfect fit for us--especially Sandy's skills at staging all the items we needed to part with, and it sounded impressive when she explained how she would display everything. And she was true to her word: everything did look wonderful. It was the actual sale when everything else turned sour. Sandy, out of the picture now that her part was done, left us with Robert at the helm. It was very unpleasant to deal with him. He was barely civil at times, and it was obvious he didn't want anyone from the family around at any time. When our (adult) daughter called to ask him a question, he blew up at her, berated and yelled at her for about 10 minutes. He said that since I had hired him, not her, she had no right to question him about anything. She said she had never been treated so poorly. He and I had gone through the 4000 square foot house, filled with multiple china sets, some antique furniture plus many really high-quality newer pieces (all of which he initially priced & then sold at a fraction of what furniture should--even if it wasn't "mid-century modern") and so many other items too numerous to list. I told him which items we wanted sold & which were not for sale. He dutifully marked down on a tablet what I specified. And for the most part, he did follow my wishes. One thing that was very disturbing, (which he denied afterwards), was that he disregarded my very specific instructions not to sell my mother's house plans. During the "walk-through" he assured me he would put them in a safe place so that no one would riffle through them. These were the plans my mother herself drew, her design for the house where she & my father spent the last 40 years of their married life together. These plans were a family heirloom, which we all treasured. I should have checked his list to make sure it was marked down as "Not for Sale", but I trusted him to keep his word. After the sale, the plans were nowhere to be found, and he denied any knowledge of my wishes, even texting me a copy of the page in the tablet where the plans were clearly excluded from the "Do not Sell" list. I was sick of heart, as were my daughter & nieces. It still bothers me greatly. His arrogance and angry attitude were almost always present in my encounters with him, and he displayed a temper that was very threatening to me. I read the other reviews on google, and paid special attention to the negative ones and how Robert responded. It was all too familiar. He will, no doubt, dispute and misrepresent what I have just written, but my family and I all know the truth. I have no reason to lie. DO NOT TRUST YOUR PRECIOUS POSSESSIONS with this man. While we should have netted much more from the sale, we made a fraction of what we should have. Robert, of course, will have an answer for that, as he did with the other dissatisfied clients, but when we showed the pictures from their website (that Heritage Estate Services had taken) of the various items to a number of different people who are in the same business,, they were shocked to hear what we actually made from the sale. (Oh, how I wish we had contacted them first!) Sandy was very nice, but unfortunately, Robert was the one who was in charge, and he was churlish and difficult to deal with. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this company for this reason--Robert is not a nice person. He is angry and vindictive, and has a real deep-seated problem when dealing with "difficult" clients, meaning, clients who ask questions and don't roll over and play dead. It has taken me this long to wrap my head around what really happened and how to respond. I came to the conclusion that I needed to speak out to warn others contemplating using this company. I am writing this review in the hope I might spare others from the terrible experience we had with Robert. I could write much more about our bad encounters with him, but I think this is enough to cause potential clients to think twice before signing a contract with Heritage Estate Services. read more

Our family hired Sandy & Robert who own H.E.S. to handle our family estate sale. The interview went well and we liked both so hired them to handle the estate sale. We set up a date for the sale and were told that we needed to vacate the home for over 2 weeks. Since there was a family member still living there, we needed to remove them from the home for over 2-weeks. This family member is elderly as well. Everything was arranged for them to start the inventory. Upon meeting Sandy & Robert we were informed they had liability insurance, just in case someone fell or hurt themselves on our property. We had asked that the paperwork be emailed to us prior to the sale, well we kept on getting excuses from both Sandy & Robert that they sent it to us (we never received) etc. Finally they emailed a doc that looked fake. By this time they had access to the home for 2-days. After the 2nd day, we were informed that they wouldn't be there on the weekend but would be back first thing Monday morning and there all week. Well, I went to see what they did at the house over the wknd, NOTHING! They left everything in boxes, only taking some tables and moving them around. We did manage to contact them on Monday and was told that Sandy had left a voice mail on the phone. We listened to it and she told us that she cannot do our sale as there wasn't sufficient items to sell. ???? They worked for 2-days then told us they would be back on Monday then they changed their mind? There was plenty to sell of course, but they made all sorts of excuses. We were floored! We moved out everything that wasn't for sale prior and relocated our elderly family member for over 2-weeks! How unprofessional they are. They really made it hard for us as we then had to scurry around and find another Estate Sales person to handle the estate. Luckily, nearly everyone we spoke with told us that 95% of companies do not have insurance. This is totally fine, but Sandy & Robert LIED to our faces that they indeed have it. Then they continued to lie about it until they realized that we were serious about obtaining this from them, then bailed out of the sale as fast as they can. On their website, they list that no sale is too large or too small for them. A LIE. And they still list they are insured and bonded ANOTHER BOLD FACE LIE. We did find another company to represent us and they thankfully are professional and not liars. This was our first time at Estate Sales and now I know that what they say and tell you isn't always the truth. Shame on you Sandy and Robert for conducting a business this way, we will never recommend your company to anyone as how can anyone even trust you with keys to their home and items? read more

Awful!!!! Don't not shop at their estate sales. many of the items do not belong to the person whose Home the sale is taking part in. They bring in items from other locations and treat as part of the sale. Then they don't reduce those items the last day. It's a scam!!!! I wonder if their customers know about this and do they get part of the sale considering it is their property they are utilizing to sell their products. Scam!!!! They tried selling an album for $35 that sold on ebay for $2. Scam !!! Sell your stuff with other services that are more reputable. After we hired these people to do our estate sale, we had to cancel suddenly. After we looked over our items (and Heritage Estate Services had our key to the house for a few days) we noticed items missing. OBVIOUS items that I knew were there before they had our key. It wasn't worth calling them and accusing of stealing because I knew I would of had a problem with these people. We let it go. Please beware of whom you hand over your house keys to. We ended up having another sale with a very good company and reputable. They told us of horror stories of these type of companies stealing all the time from clients. My daughter has been hired to assist Heritage Estate Services at a few of their Estate Sales. We are both impressed with Sandy's staging and presentation of the estate items. Also, they take security very serious insuring that items do not walk away. At the end of the day they do a great job creating an attractive setting and making the estate items look as valuable as possible and making sure the Family/Estate gets the most for their items. I went to an estate sale in Hemet (my first one) expecting it to be like a messy yard sale. But when I walked in the home it wasn't at all a yard sale. It was SO organized! Everything was laid out, cleaned and priced. Some items were in display cases and some were on tables. EVERY room/area had someone working in it. If I had a question I didn't have to "go find someone". They also had an area that I could leave the items I wanted to buy (I couldn't hold everything). Everyone was very professional and friendly. The only problem I had was that I bought too much! (Camera, kitchen items, patio furniture etc). Luckily I drove a truck that day so I was able to get everything home. We used Hertiage for an Estate Sale at my parents home. Sandy was very nice to work with through the whole process. Both Sandy and Robert were very profession and respectful to our parents home. They worked on the house for 10 days before the sale and staged the home in a way that we could not of done ourselves. We did not come to the sale, but the neighbors said there were a lot of people that came. We donated everything that was left and receive a receipt for that too. We were hoping for a better out come with how much sold, but we could of not done it ourselves any better and there was no clean-up for us in the end.
