She said she will take it personally upstairs to be processed in order to get me in. I had an appointment 2 pm that day, wow. I met the staff and Dr. Irwin came in and introduced himself. Listen folks, he's the nicest dentist I've ever known. He joked with me, "So, I hard you're a big baby" because prior to meeting him I told his assistance I had sensitive teeth; funny guy. The front desk employees are welcoming and efficient. The office is clean and cozy. The dental assistant was so cheerful and helpful. She made sure I was comfortable and helped me feel calm. Another woman came in to inject the numbing medication. This woman was the absolute best!!!! I never felt the pinch or the pressure of the injection that I have always experienced in the past! Well done!!!! The dentist is also friendly and calming. He let me know step you step what was happening during the procedure and made sure I was comfortable. When I did, the diagnosis was so bad I went home and cried. And then when I got the Delta Dental statement of benefits and what they would cover in a single year, I cried again. Dr. Barry explained why I needed the work done and helped me to get on a schedule that I could live with (and pay for!). He and his staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Austin Woodland hits all the marks for me. I've had a few cavities filled, and now as of a month ago, a root canal all done by Dr. Woodland and his offices and I am just so very impressed! Dr. Woodland is extremely gentle, quick to problem solve and has excellent bedside manner. He makes sure you are very numb too which for me is a great thing LOL Every appointment is a breeze at their extremely clean and modernly designed Sequim office location. The ladies and gentlemen at the front end of the office are equally polite and very helpful. Overall... I was a bit apprehensive as I had let my dental care go for a few years during the pandemic. I was also apprehensive as he is a newer dentist.. BUT I was very, very wrong!!! Glad I kept an open mind as Dr. Austin Woodland is the best dentist I've seen in my life. Definitely recommend! Some credit is due. I have a filling by Dr. Despain that is still going strong after many years,…read moredespite being on an incisor. Dr. Despain's work is of higher quality than some of the other service providers in that office. It costs a lot of money for the initial appointments, and then it will cost you more money down the road to repair problems caused by those initial appointments. It happened to me when a filling in 2019 blocked food between the teeth and then required a root canal on the adjacent tooth in 2022. Now this is happening again to my dad who is retired. A faulty crown had a 108 dollar meeting where they didn't even open his mouth. There's talk of 6000 dollars in repairs for a problem they arguably caused (according to my mother who was a registered dental assistant). I went to a different office in 2022, and will tell my parents to do the same now. Advice: take good daily care of your teeth and keep all dentists away; if you do need one, you can find better and cheaper.

I called my mother's office to let them know that I arrived at Dr. Scharf's office after I arrived. There weren't that many dentists in Port Townsend that at that time did dentistry on teenagers. I told Dr. Scharf some of my jokes about doctors. He smiled. I think he thought I was already graduated. I told him about the sports teams at the high school. He agreed that not enough students are athletes in that school district. He agreed to give me quality advice to keep my teeth as I aged. I noted that Dr. Scharf's receptionist always wanted me to make an appointment at the time I was given a Pop quiz during my Chemistry class. I told Dr. Scharf it's very important for me to have enough time to study for all of the classes and pass all of the tests and quizzes... because I intended to go to a college out of state. He asked me if I wanted a job at his office later. I told him.... I might want to be his accountant. He said... you're taking Mathematics in college. I told him... I intended to become a high school Mathematics teacher after I get a certificate in teaching. I asked for his recommendations on which college one of my former guardians son should go to. Dr. Scharf didn't hesitate. He suggested Washington State University. I suggested that college to that guardian. He said... they would ask the son. There weren't any dentists on the Peninsula who had Saturday appointments way back then.

He has all kinds of music you can listen to, in headphones, while you're there - - a really good and interesting selection. And he'll never patronize you the way my new (now former!) CA dentist did. From my Dentist Laurel Dental Clinic ...... remember this name if you're in Port Angeles and forgo any appointments there. The letter said they were terminating my visitation rights "due to my repeated refusal of recommended treatment" including a referral for a periodontal dentist. Actually, what happened is I didn't take their referral for a periodontal dentist assuming I could make my own decision. Be careful big brother is watching out. I didn't decline essential treatment as it says in the letter. I declined their referral. I've been going to this clinic for nine years. .... Paying cash and have never had a problem. This is the most obscene letter I have ever received, and I am warning those of you in Port Angeles who use the clinic to terminate your visitation. No wonder this clinic keeps changing Dentists. I bet the pay schedule there is nominal because they keep refusing patients. At this point I drop dead before I would return!!!!!!! Laurel Dental Clinic needs new management!!!!!!

But they were rude and condescending with their payment collection letter. Stating I was 'unwilling' to pay. They don't know that. I was not unwilling, I was merely only able to pay in smaller increments. Then they said that if I didn't pay in full, it would be, and I quote, 'unpleasant for both of us'. Awful customer/patient service. They are lucky haven't taken my X-rays, showing the failed root canal, from my new dentist to a lawyer yet. Do NOT go to this dentist. Unless, you are ready to lose your teeth. Awful.
