I did a rug tufting workshop here with some friends and enjoyed a really unique and fun experience!…read moreOur experience was about 4 hours in total. Price varies based on how big you want your rug to be (20"x20" or 30x30") and if you make a rug on your own or share one with a buddy. Overall I found the price very fair for the experience that I had. I'm pretty clumsy but was able to tuft my rug with ease because of how beginner friendly the class is and how awesome our teacher, Ashley, was. I love the fact that you can create your own design even as a beginner. Upon registering for the class, you have to submit three different designs, and from there, the instructors will pick the design they think is most appropriate for your level. If there are any issues with the design, they'll call you to work something out, which shows great customer service. After you finish your rug, the studio keeps it for 2 weeks to shave it down and fix it up into a proper rug, and you'll need to pick it up afterwards. It's kind of confusing to find the studio, but your confirmation email explains the instructions. The workshop allowed you to BYOB, which was a fun cherry on top to a good experience. I would totally do this again and recommend this to anyone looking for a unique event for a date night or special occasion.

Our instructor, Ashley, was amazing! Super patient and it was easy to follow along. You submit 3 designs, and 1 gets approved for the custom rug (already drawn and set up at your station). Rug tufting took a few hours. Felt like a mini workout; be sure to stretch your hands/wrists/arms LOL. Rug pick-up usually takes a couple of weeks. Highly recommend booking a workshop with a group of friends! The experience was so much fun.

The online booking was super easy to make and I signed my friend and I up for an individual wheel throwing lesson for 2 people. The studio has its own parking lot and is beautifully decorated. I love the fridge with the complimentary drinks! I've never been to a pottery studio that offers this as an amenity and it was amazing. I had originally booked with Mimi who wasn't able to make it and ended up getting a lesson from Abbie, one of the owners of HTX Clay. Abbie was a great teacher! I've taken pottery classes before but it was my friend's first time. We each made 3 pieces in the 2 hour class and picked 2 pieces to fire and glaze. The glaze selection here is great and I'm excited to see how our pieces turn out! I wish this place existed when I still lived in Houston! I would have loved to get a membership here. One thing that I found unique compared to other studios I've been to is that clay experience isn't required to get a membership and on-demand education is included.

I wanted to love this place but the sugar land location is so poorly run, I just can't. It's a…read moregreat concept but the horrible customer service makes it not worth it, and in the end they lost our pieces and didn't care. 1. From the beginning, I had a subpar experience because the employee helping us make our pieces was new (which is fine, nobody can help that) but instead of explaining how to create the work or having a more experienced employee shadow her training, she kept getting frustrated and would say "here, I'll just show you" and ended up basically making the pottery for us. She was sweet but lacked training and patience, so she didn't let us make our own pottery. She also kept bantering with her colleague while we sat there waiting to hear what to do next. 2. Then 6 weeks goes by and we didn't hear back about our piece, my husband and I kept calling and finally after a week, someone answered and said yes it's ready. 3. Now we have painted and sent them to the fire and we went to pick it up this evening. They are moving locations and everything was packed up. The employee said he can't find it and it was probably recycled. The most they can offer is 50% off a new pottery experience. Taken aback, I said hey that's really uncool, and kind of messed up. He said we should have picked it up within 2 weeks and it's been almost 60 days. It's been exactly 40 days, and we just had Xmas and New Years, AND they're only open Thursday through Sunday. Nonetheless that is my blunder, I recognize that. Still, they can call someone before throwing away their pieces. The employee said, "We used to do that, but it was bad for business." 4. The final straw was when the employee said, "I'll look through on Monday at the warehouse to see if it's there," and my husband asked, "and you'll call us?" The employee said Yeah. My husband said, "and you have our number on file?" which prompted him to check in front of us. HE DIDNT EVEN HAVE OUR NUMBER! The guy was never planning on calling us because I was upset about our pieces possibly being thrown away. So they can take six weeks to notify us our pieces are ready, but we can't take 4 weeks to pick it up? They should admit our stuff was thrown away or lost because they're moving locations, not because we took an extra 2 weeks to pick it up. Neither the email that said it was ready nor the employees at time of painting indicated that we HAD to pick it up in two weeks or else they'll recycle our pieces. Almost every employee at this location has zero customer service training (except one lady who helped us paint our pieces). I have never felt so strongly about an establishment that I wrote an extensive review. My advise is to take your $ elsewhere. Makes sense why this location isn't even on Google maps, only Apple Maps. They probably had awful reviews. I'm so disappointed in Smashed & genuinely sad at how I've been treated.
