This was my second time using Hercules. In the past they were very professional and responsible. This time however I do not know what has happened to their company. First off I was accidentally booked for 2 days. Then I had to clarify with Alex that it was Larry's mistake and I only needed one day. Then Larry told him I was moving the size of an apartment. However I was moving into a three-story three bedroom three bath townhome. They tried to show up at 5:30 PM to begin my move. Everyone refused to answer the phone because they knew we were upset. luckily after 10 different calls the dispatcher was able to get a hold of the movers coming and they were able to get there by 4:30pm. Late but still doable. The movers did a good job and were quick. However they did damage shatter a mirrored desk. This desk cost over $2000. For which I was paid out $90. They also damaged my walls. I made sure they noted it on the bill of landing they disputed the insurance claim and I had to go back and give another copy of the bill of landing with it circled where they had wrote the damage. For the damage to wall I was paid $200. I still have not received this money and I moved the beginning of May. I try to not even file a claim for the wall repair because I still have the original paint. And initially they had stated that they would take care of it and I should speak with him before filing the claim. They emphasize speaking with them before filing the claim however I phoned at least five times and emailed over 10 with no response. Therefore I went ahead and filed the claim anyway. But again $90 for something that cost $2500 is ridiculous. The lack of communication in this company is over the top. They are extremely unprofessional and will straight up ignore your calls. Do not use unless you don't care about your stuff getting broken or ever getting a response.

Professional movers who stand behind their work: I contracted with Hercules Movers as a repeat customer from April 2018. I found them to be reliable from beginning to end with that move. This move they were unprofessional, slovenly, and now want to go extract additional funds while holding some of my personal belongings. The move was set up by Edward Jordan with an estimate that I paid $50.00 to secure the move date of May 29, 2019. On Tuesday Laura the Move Specialist called to confirm the move. I made a just in case call to Laura because I was getting push back from the apartment management company on move in date. I first spoke to Nora. I was asking Nora if it were possible to reschedule for Friday. She said Friday was not possible and that I needed to cancelled as soon as possible. I asked her if it I could call back before 5:30pm with a go/no go decision. She said okay. In the meantime I was able to get things settled with the apartment complex. While on the phone with the complex, I got a call from Laura. I ended the call with the complex and started the conversation with Laura. She was dismissive and unprofessional in her decision to make light and laugh about the situation. I told her that she was highly unprofessional. I told her that I had worked things out and that the move was a "go" between the hours of 11am and 2pm. The day of the move a young man called to say they're would be at my house in 1 hour from the current time of 1:33pm, probably earlier. When they finally arrived the time was 2:43. He said that he had to go back to the office because he was in a small van. I thought to myself that the paperwork says - 26' truck. They start moving from the 3rd floor via an elevator. I notice that there is not a lot of movement for a crew of 3. So I start to move items down to the first floor. It seemed to me that they were stalling. In one case the young may was sitting on my nightstand outside by elevator looking at his phone. I had to move around, take the stairs to get the crew working, It took nearly two hours to pack a truck for a one bedroom apartment. We started for the new place at 3:00pm. When we arrive the young man says that he needs payment. I gave him the citi credit card. I could hear him calling the number so and the zip code (new). I had not changed address to new one so I moved closer because he was saying that the card was declined. He then called the office (Laura). I gave her the information and the transaction was accepted. Meanwhile items are being taken off of the truck. The young man now says he can't proceed until I let him scratch the card (get the account numbers off the card. I would not allow that kind of activity. Laura asks for the account number. I'm just not comfortable giving that number to the young man. Hercules has cancelled the transaction and now is asking for more storage fees for the remainder of my belongings. On yesterday, I was informed that Hercules cancelled the transaction and moved the remainder of my belongings into their storage. The authorization was that I did not respond to 2 phone calls which registered without caller identification while I was working and also moving. I have a new cellular provider and I forgot that I needed a new voicemail message and set up. However, I do have a good email trail of communication, payment alerts, and information. Now they request storage fees. I just want the original constructed job completed with belongings intact and I damaged. Professional movers:

Update- they fixed my dresser free of charge and looks good Movers were very nice , professional and worked hard . However , my dresser was badly scratched in the process with white streaks going across it . The movers acknowledged it which I appreciated . However, I really liked this dresser as it was a nice set from Star and selected these movers due to all the positive reviews. In order to get it fixed through movers, I would have to pay a $75 deductible. It doesn't seem fair I should have to pay for them damaging my dresser when I already paid $600 for the move. I specifically went with these movers at a higher rate than others as I didn't want my items damaged. I haven't moved forward with getting my dresser fixed because it doesn't seem right I should have to pay for something I didn't damage after paying hefty fees for moving :(

Didn't Feel my crated documents needed to be boxed. Sheesh!!!!

Very good at Packaging furniture, but Far Too Expensive. Pay very close attention to your phone briefing before move because everything is recorded and they will not hesitate acknowledging what has been explained to you. ( no trash bags, no milk crates, etc. ) even my ottoman was wrapped up in blankets. In my opinion, OVERKILL. I declined their offer of a $15 discount for giving a Yelp review in person with the movers, and I also declined their survey. Too much pressure for me. Larry, a customer service rep called me immediately after movers departed to address my concerns. I expressed I'd likely never hire Hercules again because of their extensive pricing. On behalf of Hercules he offered me a $50 Visa card. A drop in the bucket in comparison to my cost of $770 to move 1.5 bedrooms. I was quoted $460, high end. I likely will not receive gift card after this review, but expressing my disdain is more important to me so that perhaps some struggling college kid doesn't get stuck with these prices. Once again I'll say this.....the Prices are Too High! That is All.

After the first review, I was contacted next day by Hercules office. They seemed genuinely concerned, highlighted that the team will be retrained to ensure that they are sending the right message. Obviously the 1 hr folding time isn't part of their standard charge. This hour together with the original vase price will be refunded back (there was no haggle and negotiation to the price like what insurance companies do, which I appreciated). It was explained to me that using extra material for wrapping like cardboard, shrink tape and bubble wrap is a standard charge in Houston. After-service support, trying to go above and beyond, in order not to lose a customer was impressive.

I had to call and confirm instead of them. They left my front door wide open and never turned the gate back on so if I hadn't gone back for cleaning supplies my door would've been left open over night. When I told the only guy who spoke English he said "I wasn't the last one out" no apologies just a lazy answer. They never unpacked properly. I started unpacking the kitchen, so they had an idea of where things went. They didn't try, they just unpacked random stuff and threw it in places. Appliances were disassembled which could have easily been put together. My cake stand was in two thrown on the counter top with a box over the glass in an unsafe manner. They said they were scheduled to come back tomorrow and when I called to complain about how the place left they said the job was done and I should've said something before they left. Updated Review - June 2026…read more I am updating my previous five-star review from August 2025 because my experience on June 19, 2026 was dramatically different. As a widow and parent of a medically fragile daughter, I chose this company specifically because of the excellent service I received last year. This time, the crew worked for approximately five hours with no complaints. The lead driver performed a walkthrough, used my bathroom, and the team packed and loaded belongings without raising any concerns about the condition of the home. Everything changed when it came time to move our stacked washer and dryer unit (329 lbs). Suddenly, the lead driver claimed the apartment was so filthy it was making him sick and they could no longer continue. This was the first time any issue was mentioned. Two days prior, maintenance workers had been in the same apartment and specifically commented on how clean it was. I was left with furniture, beds, and belongings still in the old apartment while the crew stopped for about an hour before disappearing. I had to scramble to figure out what happened to my possessions. Since arriving at the new place, we have also discovered multiple damaged items (couch, end table, broken patio chair, etc.) that were not damaged prior to the move. This experience was incredibly stressful and disappointing. I have no problem leaving glowing feedback when a company performs well -- I did so previously. Unfortunately, this move fell far short of the professional service I expected and paid for. I would not recommend or use this company again. And they still charged me $825 for half a move. --------------- Previous review from August 2025: I cannot say enough nice things about Ethan, Patrick and Chrisean who helped me and my daughter move. We could NOT have done it without them. That's the truth. They were the nicest guys and so efficient. I just unpacked all the china they packed for me and I'm amazed at how quickly they were able to do that and with such care and precision. I will only ever use this company for my moving needs. That's the truth. Services Senior moving, Local moving, Moving-related packing, Oversized-item moving

I interviewed about 6 moving companies and right away from talking with Abner I felt comfortable. Other moving companies were very persistent, trying to sell me, and seemed dishonest. Abner was very responsive and straight forward but did not contact me again after initial quote until I decided to go with him. He garunteed pick up date and arrival date (and time and was 10 minutes early each time!) which was huge for us as our move had to be very scheduled and other companies quoted us a 2 week interval (or more!) of when our items would be delivered. His crew in Houston arrived and packed our entire apartment, included disassembling basic items. They were extremely professional and efficient. Every item even valuable and breakable items arrived in perfect condition. He met us in San Fransisco 5 days later and him and two others unloaded all our boxes and assembled any dissassembled items. Again very professional and efficient. Iron back movers turned what could have been a very stressful move into 0 stress. Abner was extremely hardworking, professional, and easy to work with as was every member of his team. We hope we can use him for any future moves even though we are no longer in Houston!

During my recent move, I decided to give them my repeat business. Huge mistake. You get what you pay for. They quoted $110 per hour plus $70 admin fee, minimum 2 hours. That was fine. However, when they showed up, they advised that they charge $15 per roll for shrink wrap. I was in agreement with using the shrink wrap and blankets but they advised they were not sure how many rolls they would use. Then it was changed to 3 rolls. I've used movers in the past and they have always included shrink wrap and blankets in their pricing. However, I've also seen how the shrink wrap is used and 3 rolls is grossly overestimated. I've included a picture of the shrink wrap roll for reference. After signing for them to start the job, a never ending agreement about the number of shrink wrap rolls they would use, and the clock already ticking, I agreed for them to move forward with the additional $45 scam. Instead, they went outside, spoke amongst themselves and someone on the phone and advised that they would not be completing the job and left. I called the primary phone number and spoke with the owner who advised me that I should have accepted the scam pricing from the beginning and then disconnected the phone call. Cancelling a job because you don't want to be called out for overcharging for shrink wrap that should be included in your job is ridiculous. Moving is stressful. To walk out on someone during a time like that is not someone that deserves your business. The bright side is that I had another moving company's card on my door. I contacted them and they were available in the late afternoon. They ended up coming a few hours earlier. The price included the shrink wrap and blankets. They completed a HUGE job in 2.5 hours. I paid more per hour and tipped the 3 movers well. The fact that Astros Moving Company attempted to ruin my day over $45 is ridiculous. They would have made much more than that in tips and repeat business. Edit as of 05/09/25. In response to the owner. I NEVER advised them that I did not have the money to pay the ridiculous $45 for three rolls that were clearly not going to be used. After agreeing to disagree, I actually advised them to move forward. They chose to walk away instead. Not only did I pay more than the $45 with the other moving company, I tipped them generously. In business, some things are about the principle, not the money.
