He should not be in practice. He made extremely inappropriate sexual comments, and rambled about his son's and my husband's military careers instead of focusing on my suicidal ideation and medication management. Very friendly and personable, right up until the inappropriate comments were made, which were so incredibly bad that they triggered PTSD and have upset me for years. Clinical decision making skills were not all there either. Seems to have lost his filter and judgement and really needs to retire. Please find anyone else to trust with your mental health. He wouldn't explain to me what the prescription does, or why I need the specific prescription until I ask him. I visited him three times and all of the meetings did not last ten minutes. I was seeing Dr. Chin for a few years on and off, but he always made comments about how if he were my age he'd ask me out, talk about how it was crazy that I didn't have a boyfriend. He put me on ADHD medication that assisted with weight loss and even though that was cool, I tried telling him the pills were making my depression and suicidal thoughts worse, and instead of taking me off of them, he wanted to up my anti-depressants saying we wanted me to keep losing weight so I could get more whistles on the street. I am out of my pills and thought about going back to refill my prescription, but it's not worth the anxiety I get from having to see him. Something tells me your psychiatrist shouldn't be making you this uncomfortable especially when you're trying to get help. 10/10 would NOT recommend. read more

It was difficult to find a psychiatrist after my 1st experience with a local psychiastirst in the Whittier area who lectured me about my disability and didn't help me after paying $200 cash. In continuing to seek medical treatment for my disability I was recommended Dr. Chin from my employers health insurance just over three years ago.I would rate Dr. Chin a 3 or 4 star rating if he only did his job in treating my ADD disability. I rate Dr. Chin a well deserved 5 star rating because as a professional he goes above and beyond in helping me as his patient. Despite I don't need to share much details with Dr. Chin, he understands me as his patient (understood me from day 1) and provides me the best words of wisdom that truly helps me in life. Dr. Chin is able to get through to me immediately, he doesn't say any nonsense and keeps it real. I thought that a mental health facility is to be a organized, professional, helpful, and compassionate place. Unfortunately, they are not! I spoke with a " Supervisor" who was the one who made my appointment, over a month and a half to see Dr. Chin M.D... I had asked her specifically a month ago, If she accepted my insurance and what she would need from me and what my c0-pay would be, she stated she would confirm at least a week and a half prior to appointment. Not one call to advise me if I was all set or not. It was my fault for not confirming prior too; but, with all what I was going through, I forgot. So, I called the day of my appointment, found out that they were possibly going to have to cancel my appointment, when Jennifer stated she called last week and left a message to confirm an authorized referral and no one from my insurance carrier confirmed! Oh, and that it was my responsibility to get a referral? That she was still waiting for a call back and if they did not call her back, I would need to reschedule. Really!! As a manager, you don't wait three days prior, you need to follow through and go the extended mile to make sure your future patient is taken care of prior too. And do not tell that patient, you need to call and get a referral the day of appointment!. Well I guess, Dr. Chin, will need to be aware of his staff and give them a refresh course of compassion and making sure all insurance needs are made aware of at least a week and a half prior to appointment.
