I am writing this review to express my extremely deep disappointment with my recent experience at Dr Herbert Stith & NOT* DOCTOR .....REBECCA STITH ......oral surgery practice. My initial appointment was a frustrating waste of time. I filled out detailed forms outlining my current concerns, specifically regarding facial tissue issue. Despite this, I was seen by a person I was told was a doctor, but could not verify any credentials for Rebecca online. This individual, who did not have "Dr." attached to her name when scheduling, said she was, "just an assistant" or something to that effect. Not only did she wear the wrong kind of gloves, For a facial tissue examination, she wore thick (Dish scrubbing like gloves) that made a proper examination impossible!!!!! No duh.... She was unable to feel or see anything inside my mouth. Furthermore, Come to find out they don't even have the right light which is called a derma light (Spelling ?) ...was later told by the DOCTOR that they do not possess a "derma light" which is a necessary tool for examining facial tissue. It gives off the right kind of light that allows you to see tissue in somebody's mouth or lesions in somebody's mouth. It's really concerning that I was scheduled for an appointment at all, given that the practice lacks the knowledge, staff &, equipment needed to address the issue I clearly stated on my intake forms. ***I am talking about an urgent matter that is affecting my teeth as we speak.*** After this unproductive visit, I don't even know what doctor to see because every specialist that my primary care has led me to .... nobody can help me. &&&&& Now this tissue under my bottom teeth has yanked out the bottom panel of ribs. Let's call them under my teeth, and I can't get it back in because it's stuck in the facial tissue. So I'm going to have to have not only my first root canal, but I'll probably have to have 20 Because I cannot get this back in and I've lost time more and more time This lack of competence is unacceptable. Sorry, Doctor STITH but it is very unacceptable, considering your title. I cannot recommend them to anyone, especially if you have a *complex issue* & you would actually like to see the doctor you signed up with, but instead you got some assistant daughter who is very very nice by the way, but she doesn't have the skills to pay the bills And now all my bottom teeth are at jeopardy every single one of them. I even tried to call them in an emergency situation and he said I better go somewhere else the doctor did. I am dying right now. Please send somebody to resuscitate me!!!! read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. I came here because my crown fell off and they said I needed my tooth removed, I decided to leave and get a second opinion and all that needed to be done was cement the crown back not remove a tooth. These people are a straight scam and do not deserve to be in business as they don't care about patients problems but patients profits.. read more

Outstanding Oral Surgeon! Would highly recommend and is highly recommended by several of my neighbors here in Batavia who have had all of their teenager's wisdom teeth removed. I went to see him as a referral from my regular dentist due to 2 blue spots on my lower lip - essentially like blood blisters that never healed from when I was biting my lips a lot. I was able to get in within 2 weeks and he removed both spots on that first visit. He was very concerned about my comfort and kept asking to be sure I was not experiencing any pain. He sent it to hospital to be analyzed to ensure no issues with tissue removed. Then he took care to stitch me up with very tiny stitches so I would not have scars on my lip. He also gave me pain medication and an antibiotic. Both greatly appreciated. He was professional, efficient, and caring and the office staff was the same. The receptionist called me by name the 2nd time I came in. They even worked me in to just take a look at the stitches as I was worried something might be wrong. But he took the time to see me and all was ok. Stitches out 2 weeks later. Healed great!! read more

Don't go to this dentist!!! Ever. All they want is your money! It bothers me to say anything negative about a doctor. But recently an elderly woman I know went to Dr. Stith for jaw pain on the right side. She was on Prolia, a drug to prevent bones loss in the elderly. Dr. Stith actually did the right work, but in the end, guess what, it was her arthritis in the jaw that actually moved from the rightn jaw to the left jaw. Apparently Dr. Stith was befuddled. However, the elderly patient spent almost $1000.00 when it was arthritis or perhaps Prolia, and it should have been billed to Medicare. It was a medical issue!!!! The patient not only had Medicare but supplemental insurance. Instead it cost a lot. I would never recommend Dr. Stith to anyone in the United States. They can't even bother to bill Medicare. The patient returned to the office and discussed this. Still, they didn't do the right thing with billing. Sounds to me like they just want to make some money. Don't go to this dentist, ever. They just want your money. read more

This was about 20 years ago but he was mean and tortuous to my child. She had impacted eye teeth and he kept digging and shooting her up with novacaine and digging to apply chains for braces. She still talks about it as an adult. They should have stopped and given her sedation but he pressed on and she was rather traumatized at the time. Hope he's gotten nicer over the years. read more

I had a wisdom tooth pulled by Dr. Stith. My general dentist highly recommended him and so do I. I was really nervous, but he was very professional and calming. After a few novocaine injections, he quickly pulled the tooth without any pain whatsoever. Amazing. Definitely a top oral surgeon! read more

I would highly recommend his office to everyone. My son just had all 4 of his wisdom teeth pulled this week (3 impacted). He has not needed to take any pain medication (his surgery was 4 days ago) and he was eating soft food by the next morning. The new novocaine they use is amazing! Also I want to acknowledge how awesome everyone at the front desk was. I was having HUGE issues with the insurance/referral and they helped me get through it by making calls on my behalf. I'm sure Dr. Stith is a capable oral surgeon. Doctors are usually not good business managers and this practice is one of the worst I've dealt with from an insurance and business standpoint. My son was referred by his primary dentist for wisdom teeth removal. For more than a month we tried to get insurance approval for the procedures, including a CAT scan. My son had to have a physical (he's a healthy twenty-something!) to try to get the referral approved, but $700 CT scans are not commonly needed and rarely approved. After three visits and hundreds of dollars later, they told us they no longer take our insurance and that it was not their fault that they didn't know they didn't take it anymore!!! The mental stress my son experienced because of dreading to have this done, then being postponed several times, and starting over with a new oral surgeon, not to mention the huge waste of time the family scheduled thinking it was going to be done each time was not appreciated. Finally we went to another oral surgeon and everything went GREAT. He didn't feel a CT scan was needed. The surgery went very well and the new office was far more professional, compassionate and available. As it turns out, our insurance coverage at the new practice saved us many hundreds of dollars over what our payment would have been had Dr Stith taken our insurance--not including the $700 CT scan that wasn't needed. We tried to contact Dr Stith's office dozens of times to work the insurance runaround and then trying to pay the bill. Several times I tried to contact them at their office (including going there) and they would be closed for four+ days. They close before noon on all Fridays--if they are there at all.
