I'm a fan of Quantovius Forte. He is Q. I started with him in JCPenney Pineville and followed him over to Hera by Him. Off the back, he gets 4 stars versus 5 because I don't like paying a fee to swipe any card. I don't pay ATM fees nor any fee for my money. With that, cash is a bother and quite inconvenient to get. Yet, this whole fee thing passed on to consumers seems to be a standard in Charlotte. He is on Style Seat. He is always on time. This is essential for me. I trust him with the kid and that is a big deal like bigger than I'll permit about anyone in my hair but not the kid's hair. He does steam conditioning which I prefer. He doesn't try and throw in work that's not needed. I've brought in the kid for a trim and he's like, "I promise it doesn't need it." I'm usually a stickler for every six (6) weeks yet trust his guidance when he says nope not yet. He also worked with my hair when I left being natural after 9+ years and went back to relaxing. The kid has never been relaxed nor had chemicals and his press & curls last on the 4D hair that the kid presents (70% 4d maybe 20% 4c the rest is even tougher). P.S. He will answer or text you. I have never had to wait long for a follow up even when we haven't been in a while due to wearing braids. Oh! That's another thing, I'll take his advice on what to do for haircare. It's not about short term styles that look great but will kill our hair. I'll sport a sew-in or wig for that. He braids as well for the vixen - he set us up. I don't think he crochets as he referred the lady in the next station. P.P.S. There's a Mexican place next door. Town & Country Ford in the same lot. Adam & Eve at the other end of the plaza with a Barber shop in the lot as well. My a one from day one Solomon with the magic hands! When I say he's all about healthy hair. He promotes and delivers quality results. Along with a little trash talking (LOL) He does it all short, long, sew ins, quick weaves, etc. Looking for a dependable stylist you can trust? Solomon is your man! I'm very particular about my hair, it one thing I don't mess around with. I can trust Solomon to have me looking my best every time I see him. When I sit down in his chair I don't have to worry about what he's going to do. He know me as his client and what I will and will not be seen wearing. Now when I say the shoes might surprise you a bit (LOL) pay them no mind, it's all part of his creativity. * Let me start by saying that I was prepared to pay several hundred dollars for full color and highlights. I am easy to work with and new to Charlotte. I was really excited about the opportunity to book with Jonathan, however he was nothing but rude throughout the process. From sending my initial call to voicemail and then responding with a "Who is this and what do you need?" text followed by "If it's for an appointment go to ...". No exaggeration, these are verbatim. I was given his number by the salon and told specifically to call, not text. Further, after booking, he text me "When u made the color u must didn't read under color that I do not color first time clients or clients with a relaxer." After a back and forth conversation via text (because he never returned my call or email) he basically left me hanging. I have heard that Jonathan does good work but his attitude is terrible and he thinks very highly of himself and his work after working with "celebrity clientele". I give everyone the benefit of a doubt but after this experience, I will never recommend or patronize this business. I ended up going to Volume Salon and working with Andreia who was incredible. This salon was modern, the staff professional and friendly, the prices were much better, and I was in and out at my scheduled appointment time and the environment was very comfy. read more

I made an appointment after moving to Charlotte in 2017. I found Kendrick on style seat and booked a blowout. He did a great job on the blowout which included a deep conditioning treatment. I always get a trim, and I was very satisfied with that add on as well. I have dabbled in different salons while exploring Charlotte, but I ultimately choose to come back to Kendrick @ Hera by Him. We started out only doing blowouts the first few times I saw him. Since then, I've had a cute invisible ponytail, bob cut on my natural hair, and today I got a full sew in cut into a bob. He is very good with cuts, so I did trust him to cut my real hair. I got tons of compliments when I got it done. I am happy to know that Kendrick can handle all of my needs, and it is never difficult to get on his schedule. Not only is he always on time, courteous, and genuinely interested in giving me what I want, but it seems that the entire salon staff is also in sync. The salon is well-decorated. The music is very relaxing. The bathroom stays clean (very important). It never feels over crowded. Everyone's always in a good mood. read more

I made an appointment with Darickus after seeing his work with different sisters around town and I was not dissapointed when he styled my hair. He is a natural talent and really pays attention to your face and hair grade in relation to the haircut he gives you which is something that can be very helpful. The shop is well kept and the atmosphere is laid back with jazzy and contemporary gospel tunes playing in the background. As I looked around at the other stylists, I saw that all of them do good work and so I would feel confident going to them for followups as well. read more

Derickus styles great. However, i must say I'm not completely happy when I leave the salon. first off there are toooo, many people in your head, I have had one person based my scalp, one person give me a touch up which didn't take, and another one wrap me. there needs to be one assistant in a persons head. I love derickus but I think he needs to make sure that his assistants are doing the right thing. The other thing that annoyed me is that someone is always standing by his side talking to him, if he's not on his cell phone, which takes his attention away from me, and causes him not to shape me up properly. if I need to ask him something about my hair I always feel like I'm interupting his conversations. I have been going to Hera by Him since Jan 2012 but if this continues I will not go back. one other thing, I feel like derickus should come over and introduce himself to his new clients before sending them to the back. read more

Declined Doing My Hair: I believe in sharing my experience that may help others make an informed decision so you know what your getting into. I politely declined receiving a relaxer after I had already selected and booked my appointment in advance. I was met by a friendly, direct assistant that said if I didn't get a Halo (partial relaxer) Derekus would Yell at her. I chuckled with the thought she was indeed kidding. Derekus Refused to do my hair because I politely declined getting another relaxer !! His assistant Steven who is kind even looked puzzled at the refusal. What's really sad in my appointment a couple of weeks ago Derekus informed me my 'fine' hair did not need a regular relaxer. I was freshly relaxed and Knew I was not in need of a new relaxer. Unfortunately it only confirmed this was not about keeping a woman's hair healthy, but an agenda of meeting his financial goal of the Day !! Ladies please beware. Learn your hair, at the same time get to know the team and agenda of the stylist. It's sucks !! I am now convinced if your not frequenting Derekus's chair with the agenda of getting relaxer he won't be Happy.... read more

Derickus is a good stylest, however, you never know what you are going to get with the toss up of who and how many hands will be in your head before you get to his chair. I was 100% impressed on my first visit, 80% on my maintenance visits, but the most recent was awful. A person that was not one of Derickus assistants did my relaxer and it was absolute torture. My thoughts of how much hair was being ripped out were constantly interrupted by the pain of forceful separating of my hair. I have real afro-american hair, I have managed to get it to a good length and I need some consistency and someone who will take time with it. If I am paying $$$ for it I dont think that is to much to ask. I am not sure what I am going to do I dont like the salon search, but I am not sure if I can risk loosing the real hair Ive worked hard to maintain. read more

BALD SPOT IN CROWN!!! I would not recommend Jonathan Stewart for any weave services. My experience was horrifying when I had to remove my sew-in after only 10 days due to the soreness in my scalp. Upon removal of my install my hair began coming out in clumps around my crown. My hair continued to come out days after the removal, resulting in a soft ball sized bald spot in my crown. He was very unsympathetic and suggested it was my fault my hair fell out. I am natural, have thick full hair, and have never had an issue when I've gotten braids installed. However, his braider, braided my crown entirely too tight. In which, I advised him of this at the time of service, and he just advised me to take some Ibuprofen. My dermatologist confirmed this was traction alopecia due to trauma from the tight braid. Jonathan was extremely unprofessional & discourteous in the way he handled this situation. I would not recommend his services. read more
