I try to come every few months for a relaxing facial. My experience today was not as pleasant as my other two visits. I've been trying out different estheticians to see which one I like best for my facial. I booked at a certain time to try one a specific esthetician only for a different person to be there on the day of my appointment, saying the original esthetician is doing massages all day. I guess my visit must have been one of the earlier ones bc there was no one water available; it's usually in the lounge area. As it was early in the day, I was surprised that there were no slippers my size (7), the tissue box was empty at the counter in the changing area, and there was nearly no toilet paper left. I hope these are all anomalies because my prior two experiences were more pleasant. Overall I'd give this place a 4/5 but if today had been my only experience there, it would have been a 3/5. I'm hoping my next visit will be more pleasant.

I respect businesses time and money. I arrived 30 minutes early due to not knowing exactly where the braid shop was located. The directions brought me to White Marsh Mall. I was a little confused as I have never received hair braiding services from a mall before. I called the contact information from the appointment confirmation text. The stylist confirmed that the salon was inside the mall and provided directions on how to find the salon within the mall. Parking is limitless. I arrived at an amazing secret oasis. I have lived in the area since August of 2021 and was never aware of this hidden gem. Salontra Select Suites house 64 different salons that provides every beauty service that you could possibly think of. I was in awe. When I walked, in there was a front desk with an attendant. He greeted me, offered me to seating, and notified my stylist I was present. While I'm the waiting area, I observed a kios that provided a list of salons, business cards of stylist, an on-site ATM, coffee/tea machine, and vending machine of snack. Suites are also conveniently located by the food court. I got my hair braided at 360 Braiding by a young man named Ibrahim. He was very prompt, professional, timely, charismatic. Hair is provided. If you would like a color outside of common natural colors, that may have to be arranged. It was a pleasure having him braid my hair. I will definitely be returning to him for my hair braiding services. While getting my hair braided, I scanned through the business cards I collected to view potential services that I may want to try. I have been in search of somewhere to get my hair done regularly and I am happy to have found these salon suites. All this talent in one location is absolutely genius. Once my braids have run it's course, I will definitely be seeking a stylist to maintain my natural hair. These salons are located inside of White Marsh Mall and some of the stylist provide services 24 hours a day...THAT'S RIGHT!!! 24 hours services. Check out this place if you are in need of any beauty services. I'm sure you will find someone that suits your needs and you won't be disappointed. They have one laser - the Alma diode - and didn't seem to care that the Alma diode laser is not appropriate for black skin. Also, there is no Dermatologist just a "doctor down the hall" affiliated with this center. When I went for a test dose and it hurt like hell! A day later I had 2nd degree burns from the test dose!! During my first and only visit, I asked what I thought were simple questions: what kind of skin care would be appropriate and inappropriate to use before laser treatment, name of a numbing agent they could recommend. All I got were vague responses. They did not seem the least bit knowledgeable about laser treatment. This was very annoying to me and bells started to go off in my head. To make things worse, one staff even recommended that I do my own online search! Well I did and found out all too late that the only appropriate laser for black skin is the YAG. These people seemed to have no clue. Though I did chose to come to this location because it was close to my home, I will say that if you are a woman of color - you should think twice before coming here. There are other reputable medi spas that have far more experience working with black skin and the Alma diode is the WRONG laser for you! My other problem is that you should never expect that if you call the office during business hours that they will actually pick up the phone. I spent one saturday calling for 2 hours straight with no pick-up. The only good thing I can say is that the staff seemed friendly and the other customers that came in seemed satisfied. Update - I was surprised to discover today that Yelp has an interesting practice of filtering reviews with some long winded and convoluted reasoning to justify their practices (smh). Until today, I didn't know others had written poor reviews of this place for months! So if you don't see all the other negative reviews then scroll to the bottom of my review and click FILTERED and type in the captcha code. Update #2 I found a review on Google Reviews for this sham business by someone named Kelly Young and it just goes to show that this business tries very hard to inflate itself. Clearly this silly Kelly Young has not read the Yelp reviews. I seriously doubt this business is in good standing the BBB and as for Groupon continuing to promote their services, well that really reflects poorly on Groupon given all the complaints and requests for refunds. I included this update because if what Kelly Young says is true then apparently the "Doctor (?owner) is a surgeon with 2 private practices and privileges at the best hospitals in Maryland." This is scary indeed because if this is true then I think the State of MD licensing board would be interested to know that one of its licensees is negligent and harming patients. Since that review is on Google Reviews I have to assume it is true but it if anyone knows for sure that it is wrong information then send me and email...Just food for thought.
