After breaking my tooth, I was referred to see Dr. Graham by my husband's boss. I called, and…read morewithin an hour of the break I was in to see the dentist. I admit, I wasn't nice on the phone. I was nervous about the price (no insurance), annoyed, and didn't want to spend money that I didn't have only to be told "We'll need to do extensive work, blah blah, money money" and have to refuse.
This is the only gripe I had, and the reason for only 4 stars: No one in the office could tell me how much anything would cost, or what insurances they did take. They couldn't even tell me how much an exam would cost, or even a cleaning. "We can't give you a definite price until the dentist gets in there."
Once there, I quickly filled out the forms and was welcomed by a sweet dental assistant, very personable, and made great conversation. Got an xray, and she told me the cost upfront. The dentist was finishing up her last client of the day (I was a last minute add), but came in soon and got to work. She checked all of my teeth, and zeroed in on my broken tooth, the large cavity inside it above the nerve, and another cavity in the tooth behind it. I told her I was concerned about cost, and she gave me numbers immediately. The 3 surface filling would cost X, this exam will cost X, we can stay late to fix the broken tooth but we may have to do a root canal.
She explained what was happening under the break, that there was a cavity under a large filling, and very close to a nerve. She wouldn't know the cost until she had removed the filling, and the cavity (to see how close it actually was). She added some dental wax, and scheduled me for first thing in the morning. Best case scenario, it would take just under 2 hours to remove the filling, cavity, back cavity, and (to keep costs down) replace the big filling with a bigger one (instead of a crown).
I got there early in the morning, walked right in, sat down, and she was there. Numbed me so good, I was just enjoying the conversation between her and her assistant the whole time. I was lucky, the cavity didn't come as close to the nerve as she thought, and only ended up costing about $375 for the fillings and exam.
And let me tell you, I've never seen a dentist so PROUD of her work. The time she spent on the contour... Wow. I was very pleased, and she didn't charge me a cent more than she told me she would.
As I was leaving, I asked the receptionists what insurance they did accept (for when I'd come back for cleanings and whatnot) and she couldn't tell me anything but "The usual ones." I asked, MetLife? Aetna? Delta Dental? She said, "I'm sure we accept whatever your husband has."
What is that? Either way, great dentist!
