I'm a new mom and needed to bring my 5 month old to my dental cleaning. I thought she would nap. I even drove around the neighborhood to really cement those sleepy vibes. But no. As soon as we stepped out of the car, her eyes shot open and sleep was out the window. The amazing women at Dr Mitchell's office held my fussy baby while I got my teeth cleaned. Im sure they would prefer to not have to deal with a baby at their office, but they made me feel welcome and accepted - even in this weird time where this sidekick has to follow me everywhere. The hygienist Darcie was ultra kind about a fear I had, and even connected a chronic issue with something my previous hygienist hadn't thought of. When it was time to schedule my next appointment, I was able to make alternative arrangements to text since the baby was crying and ready to go.

I realize Dr. Brecke has an attitude of "don't worry it's all fine " going on. People like his laid back demeanor. His office staff and Hygienist are very pleasant. They have the same "come on in!" Attitude. His office is a little outdated but clean. This time I went to him it was for an infection in a previous crown. My face was swollen and I was in extreme pain! They couldn't get me in for awhile (the start of no back up plan for emergencies!) so I contacted a previous dentist and was seen right away and given antibiotics. The prescribing dentist is not someone that I want to go to for routine things because he is always saying I need thousands of dollars in dental procedures that I question. I went back for the pulling of the infected molar. This appointment happen to be the same day that we had a death in the family! I told the receptionist about this when I arrived. Dr. Proceeded to pull my tooth. His assistant was obviously new! She didn't provide the assistance Dr Brecke needed. It was obviously irritating him. I left with no antibiotics, no rinse of any kind and a handout. Over the next few days my tooth started to become infected! I called first thing on a Monday! The receptionist said Dr Brecke had come in that morning "shaky so I sent him home to sleep for a few hours" Apparently there was an emergency in his family that weekend). I was sympathetic because our family was going through a rough patch. I asked what I should do. She said wait for a few hours and they would call back. I waited... called back after 4 hours! The women on the phone said he wasn't there yet. I said "don't you have a back up dentist for emergencies? She answered in a flat voice "well we use ---- but normally we give him a heads up"! I said "I'm going to Urgent care. I went there and was put on a strong antibiotic! When I went back to have it checked after two days of medication, no one mentioned the whole ordeal! Dr. Brecke looked uninterested and said it would heal. He told me to "just quit taking the antibiotics when it starts feeling better! At this point my mouth was super sore and raw but starting to heal! He gave me no numbing rinse or anything for pain. The last straw was when he just walked away from me to the front of the office. He handed my chart (who doesn't use computer charting?) and said to the receptionist "well we will probably never see her again but if she has any further problems she can call"! Very unprofessional! No attention given for pain or infection! The kicker is I have had a total knee replacement last year! A bone infection would be horrible in my case! I will look for a new dentist! One that doesn't want to do everything he can think of but also is on the ball for the basics of my dental health!

Type of care I am in the initial stages of an extraction and implantation and so far so good. I called on a Friday and said I had an abscess that needed attention, the very friendly staff were able to sneak me in during their busiest time of year the following Tuesday which was miraculous. I arrived at the facility that was clean, warm, and nice. The staff were patiently thorough while doing my work up with a kind demeanor and keen attention to detail taking copious notes. Care quality The doctor took extra time going over all of the different options I had at my disposal and rating the pros, cons, and expense of each so that I was equipped with comprehensive knowledge and realistic expectations of all the treatment options he could provide which I appreciate greatly. There was no up sell or hurrying through material though I am sure he has given the same bits of knowledge a million times lol. I would recommend anyone go here for any dental needs. Office experience As luck would have it I cut my finger inside my pocket of my work uniform on accident just as I walked into the lobby. The staff bandaged me up and were attentive to all my needs from start to finish. I am really not the type to be insincere or disingenuous and this is definitely the longest review Ive ever written. Do yourself a favor and choose Dr Cary for your dental needs. -martin 13 DEC 23 Okay I don't know who your orthodontist is but you need to trade up. I went in for an extraction and a bone graft because of an abscess in my back right bottom molar(Gross I Know but its pertinent). I already have an infection in my mouth but that didn't stop Dr. Cary from using the highest sterility standard I have ever seen before. This wasn't the usual bib with a chain like I've always had everywhere else. He made his staff take extra time and redo the setup and sterilization on my mask when he noticed a possibility of contamination. I didn't even notice that there was anything amiss but out of an abundance of caution and attention to detail Dr. Cary wanted to be sure. That is exactly how I do my job and what I want from anyone doing work on me I give kudos and high praise for that follow through and meticulousness. Once in the chair they put a gown over my torso so that only my face was showing through, and then sanitized my face and mouth with a wipe. I have never seen any other orthodontist or dentist do this and I have been to at least 4 different ones. He has the highest standards I've experienced yet and twice as much decorum. What was supposed to take two hours or less took three plus hours because my teeth are abnormally difficult to work with and I have been told this by every dentist my whole life including the two in my family. I knew he was in for a fight but didn't tell him as I wanted to test him as is my custom lol. He passed with flying colors and was apologizing to me for "So long". He should have charged me extra for the hassle and the extra time he had to put in, But he didn't because he is a good and gracious man which is hard to find in the medical field if I do say so myself and I do. So all in all I got the work done at a discount. Furthermore throughout the entire process he answered all of my questions and went into great detail. I threw everything I had at him even getting into preposterous hypothetical scenarios, and he was so kind and genteel patiently addressing all of my concerns. I cannot stress enough how fastidious he is and how paramount that is. I am in day two of recovery and I have zero pain. That has never happened before and I've had several teeth pulled. I worked all day without any pain and just mild soreness which is great because I hate pain medication. The reason there is no pain 24 hours after having my bone scraped out is because of this mans attention to detail. You must choose Cary Dental, no one is a harsher judge of character than I am, and I find no fault in this man. He is now my tooth guy and I got my grandmother to trade up also. Do yourself a favor and trade up to Cary Dental. He has forced me to raise my standards and expectations which is very hard to do. -martin

This is all based on memory from a few years back, but I always meant to leave a review. On the positive side, my hygienist was very good. She had a very personable demeanor and did a great job with my cleaning. The office is newer and a nice place to visit. Seems modern and efficient with all the latest equipment. On the negative side, two of the procedures, one was the fluoride treatment and I cant recall the other one, were NOT covered by insurance, which they knew since they didn't even attempt to bill it, and I walked out having paid over $200 out of pocket. It was never explained to me that those procedures were extra, but I did notice she asked me if it was "okay" to do them, which I found odd. I've never had this happen before and was a bit confused. Another thing I thought was weird is that I had scheduled with one dentist who was covered by my insurance, but when I got there they said another dentist would see me that day, who wasn't covered by my insurance. I mean, maybe that's okay?? It seemed a little fishy to me. It was unclear to me whether or not the original guy I was supposed to see ever actually came in or if it were all just some sleight of hand to out-maneuver standard insurance practices. The hygienist made some puzzling comment over never actually seeing him much and "oh we do some work with him sometimes." ? The guy I did see put me off right away. This was during the height of Covid and he walked in, pulled his mask off, sat 5 feet from me and made a negative comment about social distancing while rolling his eyes. So I just spent that short time with him trying not to breathe. I was strongly pressured to schedule a visit to have all of my cavities replaced and schedule a visit to the orthodontist they refer to. My prior dentist, who I had to stop seeing since I moved out of state, strongly warned me to avoid any dentist who attempted to tell me my cavities needed replacing and that it was unethical to suggest that I should. The dental practice I went to after my single visit to New Smiles told me the same thing albeit in a gentler manner. I was asked about scheduling that visit twice before I left in a "you really need to get this done ASAP" kind of way. To this day I still havent had a single one replaced. I seem to recall there was some issue with the time of my appointment too but I cant remember what. Something like they thought I was supposed to come in on another day? I was confused and had to show them my appointment reminder to prove I was there when I was supposed to be. Then I was told I was "lucky" that they could squeeze me in. Anyway, I never went back. I am extremely happy with my new dentist. If your dentist ever says anything along the lines of "you have $X left on your insurance and we need to spend that by a certain date" RUN
