Magic Mike DJs International - Dance floor

This review is long overdue! I was at a Mehndi party last night with Magic Mike DJing and chatting…read moreup with 3 people. Two had him at their weddings and the third at his FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY!! I got married two years ago and chose Magic Mike as my DJ. I didn't see the point of experimenting with new DJs- there's a reason he's been in the industry for so long: 1. He is able to feel the pulse of the crowd 2. He is extremely genuine and warm So many people asked for his number after the wedding. I'd be shocked if he's not booked till 2020!

Beware! Out of over 500 reviews, I've only given a handful of poor reviews. I gave all the vendors…read moreat my wedding 5 stars except for Mike. As Mike has been in the business for 20 years and the glowing reviews on Yelp, WeddingWire, and the Knot, I made the mistake of booking him. Mike loves to march to his own beat and is extremely disorganized, ill-prepared, lazy, inattentive to details, unprofessional, outdated, lackadaisical, and quite frankly a bozo. While I was impressed by all of the vendors at my wedding, I was seething and cringing by Mike's countless mistakes. As other Yelpers have noted, Mike is highly skilled at mixing beats for Hindu/American fusion weddings and getting everyone to hit the dance floor. However, Mike caters to the crowd rather than to the bride and groom. There's "no magic", here are Mike's top 8 blunders which I confronted him at the end of my wedding night: #1: Using an old schedule that was 2 months old! After 3 phone calls with Mike and sending him a few revised schedules based on feedback that he provided, he used the 1st schedule that I sent him with wrong bridal party names, songs, and times! He neglected all of the changes that we discussed on the phone and failed to use the new schedule that I sent a week before the wedding like he requested. When 5 names are mentioned, but only 2 women and a man walk out to "Sister Sledge" playing, that's a blunder! #2: Missing Cues/Repeated stepping of glasses. My fiancee and I are highly private people and don't enjoy long kissing sessions in front of our parents and friends. We actually took out all kissing pics from our slideshow. During the reception, after a big frown and shaking of the head after the 1st stemming of glasses, Mike initiated and continued to round up the crowd for additional stemming of glasses. It got so bad that some of the bridal party members broke some of the glasses in retailation. The stemming of the glasses is a topic that I also wish Mike discussed with us before the wedding so we could have easily prevented this embarrassing mishap. #3 Announcing the grooms name first and then the bride's name. A big no-no! "Peter and Aarti Pruitt". Mike believes in men first, even at weddings. #4 Playing songs on the "Do NOT play list". I hate "Gangnam Style" with a passion and it was among the 20 don't play list. Not only did Mike happily play the song, but he refused to change the song when I asked him to! That wasn't the only one... #5 Begging for a Big Tip. Mike isn't shy about charging top dollar $3K and the audacity to ask my father for a big tip before the event! The bozo loves to overpromise and underdeliver. My dad was way too nice to tip him $200. As a firm believer of tips, I honestly would NOT tip him. #6: Trying to Upsell at the WRONG time. Mike and I had a couple of minutes before the reception started. Rather than using this crucial time to discuss making any last-minute changes to the schedule (ex. moving things up as we wanted to skip sunset pics due to the weather), instead Mike kept trying to repeatedly sell us on the dhol guy. I hate BHANGRA, why would I pay extra for it? #7 Forgetting to play the cake cutting song. I was looking forward to hearing my favorite Baby Love during the cake cutting, too bad I never got the chance to hear it! #8 Not taking full ownership. After confronting Mike about all of the blunders listed above, he kept deflecting and making excuses. Despite repeated emails and phone calls before the wedding, Mike was very ill-prepared and was "winging" it at the wedding with sheepish grins. While I appreciate Mike's apology for his mistakes in a follow-up email that he sent, he doesn't take away from the painful memories that I experienced due to his careless mistakes. He single-handedly ruined the reception. Not once did Mike make it about the bride and the groom, it was more of Mike's day and pleasing the crowd. If you want to make your day special, I recommend tuning him out and enjoying the beat of someone else.

From the beginning of the process to the end, he was extremely communicative and offered guidance on anything we asked. It is clear that he is a professional. He offered advice on how to make things run more smoothly and made us feel so comfortable in trusting him with keeping the night upbeat and moving along. He made announcements seamlessly and was able to keep the dance floor going the whole night while making sure we were informed with everything going on. For the ceremony, Todd provided the officiant and groom with clip-on wireless microphones so there were no microphones in the pictures. The sound quality was perfect. Todd was prepared with a back-up microphone, but it was not needed. Todd was also able to take our playlist requests and create the exact vibe we were looking for. During our prep call with Todd, he made sure to take note of the songs we absolutely wanted to hear...along with those we absolutely did not. Todd kept the dance floor packed all night. Silver Sound was extremely professional and easy to work with, and we were so glad that we had Todd as our DJ for such a momentous occasion.

He kept the energy sky-high and our guests dancing straight through until 2AM. We've been to a ton of weddings as guests, and this was by far the best party we've ever experienced (yes, we're biased because it was our wedding...but seriously!). DJ Lee brought incredible professionalism, nonstop energy, and the perfect mixes to keep the crowd locked in all night long. If you're looking for an After Party DJ who knows how to turn an event into an unforgettable experience, DJ Lee is your guy. 10/10 would recommend for any event

All of my Polish family had the best time even our friends who don't speak a word of Polish were out on the dance floor loving every song. His transitions between Polish hits and American wedding favorites were seamless, keeping the energy high and the dance floor packed the entire night. Simon played for five straight hours without a single dull moment -- not one song had an empty dance floor! He also perfectly handled our Polish traditional toasts after the ceremony and did such a great job pronouncing the Polish words -- it meant so much to our family. Our ceremony music was flawless, especially my groom's walk-in song! Simon timed it perfectly, and it truly gave us chills. We first loved him when he DJed our friends' wedding, and we feel so lucky to have had him for ours. Thank you, Simon, for making our wedding day unforgettable. You brought our vision to life and made the night one giant celebration of love, culture, and fun. Highly, highly recommend!!!

He met with us several times to make sure he knew exactly what we wanted, and he helped us to make a timeline for the day-of. He was extremely patient as my (then) fiancé and I realized we were relatively unsure of what we wanted in terms of music and an emcee. Wesley was so instrumental in helping us think through the logistics of the day and offered valuable suggestions. Working with him was refreshing-he is very passionate about his art and was focused on making us happy! On the actual day, he came prepared and made it a wonderful day for us and the guests. Everyone had a great time and, when there was a lull in the actual dancing (you know, end of night, people are tired), he actually got everyone back out there! His energy as an emcee was infectious. After your guests have eaten, they are looking to have a good time and that is what Wesley provided. When we asked for last minute requests or accidentally did something out-of-order on our timeline, he was smooth and rolled with it. He made our little mistakes seamless and our guests were none-the-wiser. It was very skillful. After my wedding, I received many praises and inquiries about my DJ, including from my grandma! He is professional and very fun to work with. Wedding planning doesn't have to be stressful if you work with the right people-Wesley Skold DJ will exceed your expectations. I highly recommend him for your event.

We provided him with a list of songs we wanted played (in no particular order) and he completely read the mood to play the right song at the right time with very little direction. He even worked around requests! Everybody in attendance had a great time and I know, for certain, that it wouldn't have been the same night without Wes. Even Grandma Barbara raved about Wesley's performance! He comes 100% recommended! Wes communicated with my wife and me from the day we booked him right up until the day of. He made certain that he would be able to meet our needs and was very willing to work around extenuating circumstances. On the big day he worked very hard setting up the equipment and working with other vendors (photographers, videographers, venue managers, etc.) to make sure that everything meshed perfectly. He was professionally dressed, worked with us, and even improvised when asked. Wes is a class act that will bring exactly what you need to kick up your event!
