Swati had done my cousin's bridal mehendi in April 2019. When I saw it, I knew I HAD to have Swati do mine when I got married. Fast forward a few years - my wedding happened in April 2023. I held my mehendi party 3 days before my wedding ceremony. I was SHOCKED at how dark it came out by the time of my wedding! Swati is very professional and punctual. On the day of the mehendi party, she came, quickly set up, and got to work. My mehendi took around 7-8 hours to get done (hands up to the elbows, and feet up to a bit below the knee), and Swati did not complain once during that time. I was so impressed at how focused she was during the time. She is also very sweet and kind, and we had pleasant conversation while I was getting it done. I had asked her for peacocks at the top of my design, a paw print with my dog's name, told her I liked reverse negatives and a symmetrical design, but other than that I let her do whatever she wanted. I HIGHLY recommend it, she is a true artist and came up with the most beautiful and intricate designs. It was stunning. By the time of my wedding, it was EXTREMELY dark. I got so many comments (especially from the in-law's side of the family) that it was the darkest they had ever seen. I took extra care though to do the post-mehendi care and maintenance that Swati had recommended - it's well worth it (warming your hands on both sides over the stove, Vasoline and coconut oil, avoiding water, keeping it on overnight, etc). She had also applied a lemon mixture during the day of my mehendi to make it dark. It also lasted so long, it took almost a month for all of it to come off, and was still extremely visible 2 weeks after (especially the feet/legs) I cannot recommend Swati enough, she is amazing! read more

Swati is beyond. Beyond bomb! My niece arranged for her to do bridal henna plus henna for a group of women. She was on time, prepared with her kit of artistry, and the experience and professionalism just literally oozes off her. I learned that she honed her craft in Bombay (I can't bring myself to say Mumbai :-) ... and has well over a decade of experience. It shows because she absolutely knows what she's doing. I go to art fairs in the summer now mostly hoping to find Swati and get a beautiful henna tattoo. The other reviews have already attested to her talent. Her work is always beautiful, she works quickly, the henna is always fresh, and her prices are so reasonable. I always leave the henna on for twenty-four hours if possible, and I cover it over night with a paper towel held in place with paper bandage tape. After removing the henna, I treat the area with few drops of coconut oil EVERY day and do not soap or scrub the area at all. I have been able to keep a henna tattoo on my ankle for up to four weeks this way. If I could see her more often I would get more "tattoos" and have them all the time! read more

She made time on a Saturday night and worked on both sides of both hands for a few hours. She even gave me a lemon and sugar mixture to put onto my hands once I had gotten back home. I simply cannot recommend Swati enough. She did my bridal mehendi and also mehendi for my wedding guests (on two separate days) and she was absolutely fantastic. I had ideas for what I liked in her designs (arches, detail level) and what I didn't (less flowers, more white space) and she was able to take that feedback and make a custom design that was absolutely stunning. I forgot to look at patterns on the tops of my feet and the back of my hands- but she was able to create a custom design for me after chatting for a few minutes. After thorough research of mehendi artists in the south bay and east bay, Henna Traditions seemed like my best bet based on budget and previous Yelp reviews. I first contacted Swati by calling and she was so incredibly sweet and patient, especially compared to some other terrible phone calls I'd had (one lady told me to call back the week of the wedding to see if she was available, and another was so rude and hasty, I could only imagine what her work ethic and in-person personality would be like). A pretty good experience. I wanted Mehendi for my first anniversary and found this place on Yelp. Called up and Swati was ready to take me in on short notice (same day!).
