Alapi was exceptional when I used her for my daughter-in-law's Mehndi recently. Her patterns were excellent, and since all of the applicants were non-Indian she explained each design in detail to comfort the person. She has lots of patience, and is quick with her application process. Her fees were very reasonable considering the happiness she brought to the faces of the brides friends. She also makes her own stock of Mehndi and doesn't use any ingredients that might cause skin irritation. Alapi is an excellent Mehndi artist! First of all, I have never seen such intricate designs before -- she has a very steady hand and is a truly gifted artist. The bridal designs she created were so beautiful. I am still staring at my feet and hands a week later!! Alapi arrived on time and was prepared with all of her equipment. She set up a station that was very comfortable for me to sit for three hours! Alapi also traveled a long distance to get to our home in Marin County. We really appreciated this extra travel because there are no henna artists where we live. The only suggestion I have is just to be clear about how many hours certain designs take, since payment is per hour. The more intricate the design, the longer it takes, obviously. But maybe, you might want to go over a few examples/photos with Alapi so the cost is clear ahead of time and this can be honored. I booked an appointment with Alapi at her house, as we were getting simple designs just for fun. It was very easy to book the appointment and Alapi was responsive during the entire process. I had my bridal mehendi done from her (after having a bad experience with the henna artist who I had booked earlier, I called Alapi at the last minute and she very nicely accommodated me in her schedule even though it was late at night). I wanted to mix and match several designs, and she easily recreated those intricate designs with amazing skill and deftness, while also adding her own creativity to the designs. The outcome was absolutely beautiful. Everyone was very impressed with the intricacy, symmetry and neatness of the mehendi designs on my hands and feet. Alapi is a seriously talented artist. She's focused, well-equipped, and able to work very quickly. Her designs are beautiful. Pre-event communication was a little difficult, and since I didn't have any references for Henna Creation, I was a little worried. It was my responsibility to kick off my brother's wedding weekend with a successful mehndi party, and I didn't want anything to go wrong. But once Alapi arrived at our bridal mehndi party, she exceeded everyone's expectations. Two-thirds of the guests were the women in my Indian family, who have seen and had mehndi done many times. My cousin is a mehndi artist herself. All were impressed with Alapi's designs, the fine-ness of the lines and the detail. Alapi is wonderful. I have gone to her two times so far. The first time I went was in July - I found her on yelp because she was a mile away from where I was eating so I decided to try her out. I went to her again yesterday because I had a botched henna job at a local henna salon near my home (do NOT go to Salons! I recommend professional henna artists who work from their own studio or home). Alapi covered the awful design with her gorgeous design wonderfully! She made the henna right when I called to tell her I would be coming over in 15 minutes. She is highly accommodating!
