I went last night for Mehndi for Karva Chauth. I've recently moved to NJ from CA (don't ask why) and had to find a new mehndi lady. I actually asked my mom to call up our "usual" mehndi lady in CA to tell her I missed her and she was amazing. She would come for all occasions and also did my wedding henna - incredible. This one..... I'll NEVER go back. The photos are great but the Mehndi came out NOTHING like the photos. I originally went in for both hands front and back and actually asked the lady to only do one hand. I was kicking myself for even being there. Waste of $25 the design is one of the worst I've ever had, I eventually asked the lady to stop. Quietly paid the $25 and left. There were two other people there who actually complained (I think one of them posted her review before me - she created a fuss because she received incorrect prices on the phone and the other lady said "look what you did to my hand". I agree! The lady doing my mehndi couldn't even make dots properly I will NEVER go back again. Avoid like the plague, the ladies Mobina hires for days like Karva Chauth either have NO experience or have practiced only on paper. The Mehndi is hideous. For the first time in life, I'm hoping it doesn't get dark and I went out of my way to not do the usual stuff (heat / vicks / etc) to make it dark. See the images. On the back of my hand - what is that on my middle finger? Even the dots are not proper. On my palm - what a cop out? a small design and then a vine from my ring finger down and random little bubbles with stripes. The whole thing is just a mess. Never again from this place. read more

I called Henna by Mobina for my teenage daughter's birthday party recently. She was professional and friendly and was quick to answer any calls or emails. Her pricing was comparable to other Henna artists in the area of her expertise, and Mobina was clear beforehand that she would be sending her associate to apply henna at our party, which I was in agreement with. Her associate arrived at our party well in advance, was very polite and did a beautiful job on all the girls. They would show the henna artist a picture of what they wanted or just asked her to do a design from her own creativity. My daughters and all their friends loved her work and she finished within the time frame that we had allotted without rushing. I can't even remember how I found Mobina, but I'm so glad I did. I had my bridal henna done with my bridesmaids, sister-in-law, and cousin in her studio the night before my wedding. She had soda and snacks ready for us when we arrived, and the studio was a nice place to hang out -- bright and clean with hardwood floors and white walls. Each of us showed her pictures of what we wanted, and she did a beautiful job drawing it out on us. I had spent months researching stuff on Pinterest, and when I showed her the picture of my favorite design, she was able to do a really great job doing a unique rendition of it. She blew us all away! My mehndi was exquisite...she designed a Jodha and Akbar with beautiful peacock designs (just as I had wanted) and even wrote my fiance's name in Hindi for him to find. Absolutely awful experience. I hired Mobina, or so I thought, 6 months before my Mehndi party. We had agreed on her doing my bridal henna at a fixed rate and then she would work on my guests on a pay per design scenario during a 4 hour party. . I had also sent her several inspiration designs for her to sketch something unique. The first, second, and third round of sketches weren't what I was looking for because she wasn't creating original designs she kept taking other artists work and retracing it. But the trouble began 1 week before my party, when she claimed we had never agreed to any of the conditions stated above, despite signing a contract, and told me she would only attend for 2 hrs and wouldn't accommodate any of my guests. Be careful. Especially if you're a bride looking for a reliable vendor. I wouldn't trust her because signing a contract means nothing to her and she could change her plans on a whim. And I now question the authenticity of her designs on her website as she was not able to provide any viable original sketches. read more

A very talented henna artist! She did my bridal henna in 2016 and it was really beautiful. Make sure you discuss how you will work out the guests henna because it was really confusing. I only had a few girls and it was more expensive to get their hands done than her hourly charge as she did them in much less than an hour! After finding this place on google I called her and asked her for henna prices as karvachauth was a day away. She said 10$ per hand and of course prices go up depending on the price. Once I reach there with my son at tow on a school night. She tells me and has pictures there saying 10$,$25,$50 per hand, which manually has been crossed off to "per side" 10$ per side , 25$ per side per hand and 50$ per side per hand. Lady who was putting on my mom's hand was so bad that when we told her this is horrible she says she is nervous. The same lady applies Mehendi to another girl and after a few minutes the girl Says this is not what I am paying for. I asked her if she was practicing she goes on to say what practice I only apply once a year so don't get enough practice!! For the prices this so called hardworking lady is charging has no idea who she is pulling off the street to rip us off on a festival!! Hopefully you sleep well at night!!! of course we don't work hard for our money she doesn't even cross reference the talent before charging exorbitant money. I told her this is a rip off and ridiculous and you mislead me on the phone she goes on to say I addressed so many calls I must have said something that was obviously not right . If you don't want to don't get it put!! How courteous and professional of her . Jerk!!!' Well as I had driven all the way there I ended up getting Mehendi out and being a festival!! The girl who was putting Mehendi had no idea how much she was getting paid , had been sitting there for hours. Not only Mobina is horrible at customer service and runs her business poorly but she is the worst employer. Basically taking advantage of customers and also people working for her. I read some bad reviews but chose to ignore, without one star I couldn't have written the review so I gave one. It was not only me but many other customers who were unhappy, complained what a rip off it was. Charging 2 folds is alright but charging 10 to 15 folds is ridiculous. AVOID this horrrrible place and hopefully you never have to pay her and get mistreated. Her salon is next to Downtown Yogurt!! In grove street... run as far as you can .... Advice for you MOBINA : plan ahead, do trial with Mehendi artists, depending on their talents charge customers and also let the Mehendi artists know how much they will be getting paid, i could complain to cops for hiring people and slaving them.. taking advantage of them. Most Importantly!!!! Focus don't mislead your customers ..specially 100s of them as you said you made 100 calls.. I am pretty sure you lied to each and everyone of them and then made the same excuse. You are a liar!!! Like the other review said that you promised them something and later denied it completely, you need memory pills and some trainings in how to be professional and being courteous to your customer . read more
