I clicked the link on her website and made an appointment (2) days before my trip. The calendar app was easy to use and Lisa continued to communicate with me about the appointment and what to expect when I get to her studio. On the day of I got to her 20 mins before my appointment and Lisa was still very accomodating. It took me 15 mins to find her because she lives in a gem complex. You have to walk to your far left, in between a small parking lot and bingo she's there. You can't miss her arts and craft studio door. Once there she was all business and extremely friendly and professional. We discussed the 2018 elections, bad henna horror stories, my kids including how she got started with henna. I have to say, Lisa is an angel. She gave me a style based on my favorite flowers, she treated me with nothing but tender loving care (TLC). She was finished within 20-25 mins and gave me the instructions including oil for my henna. She even walked me out to ensure I didn't ruin my beautiful design. God gave her an amazing gift and I am happy to say I love it and I will be back. Things to know: 1. be on time! 2. respect her studio 3. pay the deposit of $15.00 on her appointment page 4. pay in full on her website. 5 (1) hand takes about 20-30 mins so book enough time for each body part. You can ALWAYS ask how much time you will need. 6. Communicate if you're running late - you get a 10 min grace before you lose your time. 6. Henna was really intimidating to me -- I was so afraid of smudging the design or not liking the finished look. Like, I bought back-up white gloves just in case. Mangala really helped set my mind at ease through email before the appointment and I gave her some pics of designs I liked. Meeting her at Jivamuktea Cafe, I was 100% confident in her artistry. She freehanded a gorgeous design! And taped it up extra secure for me, especially since it's winter -- which involved many layers of coats, etc. I kept my hands taped up for about 12 hours (overnight) and voila! I had a pretty much perfect stain that deepened to a dark burgundy for my wedding day. Her price was more than fair and her work on my hands got me so many compliments and much respect from my Punjabi husband (who romantically had to feed me dinner while my hands were taped up. Daw.) Also: her henna smells heavenly and I kept sniffing my hands like a weirdo when I got home. But what I really loved about Mangala was our conversation. The appointment was supposed to be 2 hours but took 4! That was exhausting for both of us. I definitely dozed in my chair towards the end. Heh. It's not always easy to make conversation with a stranger, but over the course of the appointment, we chatted about marriage, L.A., death, and goth music. I waited a month for them to grow back and came here, explained what happened, and this woman was able to clean and shape them to exactly what I had expected. We showed her a very simple design of flowers (please see the photos of my niece's hands, she could've done that herself and she's six). She then "gave us a discount" by only charging us $30 for both hands. I didn't want to make a scene because I didn't want to make my niece cry, so we paid it. Never again. Beware of this scam. Edited: While I appreciate your offer we are going to decline. And with all due respect, that design had nothing to do with a 6 year old moving. I suggest moving forward you indicate on your website that you are by appointment only, and perhaps let your coworkers know that as well so they can answer questions appropriately and not wait people's time. Be sure to include the days of the week too, since we came today which is actually a Monday and not Sunday. Finally, please tell that lady to just say no to henna requests, no one else needs to suffer.

I wasn't sure if all of this was possible because from the work I've seen on her site, most are basically typical henna design, no lettering work. But hey, it turns out that she can do it. When she said she'll do ANY designs, it's ANYTHING. I preferred to go to her place to get the henna done. When you get to meet her, she is this extremely nice and very accommodating person! Easy to talk to, very comfortable to be with and informative. There is nothing to complain about this chick. As for the henna, it's not yet a week but my henna is holding up pretty damn well. For rates, it is way reasonable. I'm glad I talked to her and got it done instead of going to those odd shops that are henna/eyebrow threading/waxing/blahblah places. At the appt I was very comfortable and we talked a bit about how she started doing henna when she was younger as it is part of her culture. I picked a photo from off her profile and asked to have it recreated. I decided to use jagua (which is till all natural plant but a different substance altogether than henna- jagua is NOT black henna) because I am darker and prefer the jagua stain on my skin color.
