Although the view and the sound of the ocean was quite nice and the front desk team member very friendly, the walls were paper thin and I had a large gap under the door that connected to another room. Children were putting their hands under the door and playing with the locks. Although it was off season you could hear every little sound from your neighbors. The upside was that I could also hear the roar of the ocean waves crashing on the beach. There are little to no amenities beyond a coffee machine in the lobby and a bowl of oranges. Parking was convenient, although a tight fit. I imagine it would be challenging for any tall or long vehicles but suited my purposes. The light bulbs at the vanity were flashing rapidly whenever I used the light fixture and the rooms had only a light duvet cover so I depended on the small heater for warmth. The bathroom was very small and opening the door made it challenging to access. It was a struggle for my Father, who had an identical room a few doors down. Cleaning is only by request and strangely I received a mystery $100 charge on my credit card a full week after checkout. I appreciated the convenience of being on the boardwalk as the primary reason to choose the Henlopen to stay for the week.

Amazing and friendly staff from the front desk to everyone else. There is a coffee maker, oranges, water, tea and coupons in the lobby. Luggage trolleys are available and brought to you as needed. The room was clean. We were on the second floor which opened out to a patio. An amazing view. The hotel is at an amazing location to the beach. The beach is a few steps away and if you get there early enough it's not too crowded. You're close to rentable umbrellas and chairs as well. The location is on the boardwalk and a walking distance from restaurants, stores and arcades. I would stay here again.

I stayed here for one night for a beach weekend with my friend and I really enjoyed my stay here. I got the hotel a couple hours before check in and they have a bathroom in the lobby for guests to use the bathroom and shower. They also have a water fountain and coffee machine. The girl who checked me in was so SO NICE and so was one of the housekeepers who greeted me after I checked in. The hotel is in a perfect and prime location. It is right on the beach/boardwalk. I was able to park my car in their attached garage and sit on the beach or walk along the boardwalk. The garage parking spots are a little tight. You should be okay considering if you're used to DC and Trader Joes parking. I am really glad they have it so I can leave my car all weekend and enjoy the beach especially considering when rehoboth is super busy it's incredibly difficult to find parking. This hotel is about a 10-15 minutes from the main boardwalk attractions, restaurants etc. I was happy with my experience and I would stay here again.

The Henlopen has a four star location at the north end of the RB Boardwalk, but otherwise earns no more than two stars. The hotel is a shadow of its former self. The building is about 50 years old, and has seen better times., especially in the bathroom. Housekeeping was a noticeable shortcoming. We had to request specific services such as towel changes. In particular, there was sand on the floor which they never cleaned up. The room could use an easy chair and some additional coat hangers. There is no breakfast or pool. If you come here, keep your expectations low and you will not be disappointed.

We recently stayed at Henlopen Hotel! We booked the room through Hotwire and stayed two nights! The front desk staff was really friendly and the free parking was great. Now my only complaint was that this hotel does not have things like breakfast or a swimming pool or restaurant. You are right on the beach and like a five minute walk up the boardwalk from the bars, restaurants and shops! We did go to the beach twice near the hotel and it's more peaceful then at the end of boardwalk. Also our room was nicely accommodated and we enjoyed having two separate sinks from the toilet and shower. Our friends used the in room keurig and liked it. Also the view was nice from the balcony! Overall I would stay here again! Oh also if you have guests with another car simply get a parking pass from the parking department or park in one of the many metered spots.

Ocean view room from our balcony on a rainy Friday morning.

Nice hotel but a bit dated. No pool or free breakfast BUT we were fully aware of that before booking. Great location, right off the beach and boardwalk! Tons of options for dining, shopping, etc. within walking distance. Biggest complaint was parking & our room wasn't available until after check-in time so we lost almost a whole day on the beach.

This is the room we we were given .

It's conveniently located to the shops/restaurant and the beach- within walking distance. The staff is welcoming and helpful. It has street parking, and a parking garage for guests only. The hotel boasts of a beautiful indoor pool and restaurant. The restaurant/bar Sirocco is very elegant and was completely full both nights of our stay. The pool is nice and heated, but still chilly in cold weather - though my kids didn't seem to mind. The doors open out to a nice rooftop patio in nicer weather. There is a small gym, though I didn't get a chance to go look at it. There are some points of improvement: - we left our room at 8 in the morning. When we came back around noon, it had not been visited by the cleaning staff. When we left and came back again around 3, it had been visited but only stocked with fresh towels and the trash was taken out. Our soiled towels and some dishes were still on the floor/sink. When we left for dinner, I mentioned it to the front desk attendant at 530. He was very apologetic and said they would send someone up to address the issue. When we got back at 8, our soiled towels were gone, but that was it. The beds were not made, and there were still old dishes on the sink from the night prior. - I pulled out one of the clean (or so I thought) glasses from the cabinet in the room and noticed it had a bunch of finger prints. So I pulled each and every one out of the cabinet and was surprised and disappointed to see not only fingerprints but LIP prints on all of the glassware, as if they had been put back dirty after multiple uses. I cleaned a glass in the sink with hot water and soap for my own usage, but that's less than optimal for a Hilton affiliate. Other than that, a great family visit at a nice hotel. We talked to the assistant general manager Cyrus and he was great with service recovery for our two small complaints!

We stayed here for a short family trip with our toddler and enjoyed that proximity. The hotel has on site parking which is convenient and included in the room cost. It also has a few spots reserved right near the lobby entrance for check in we didn't know about in advance but you do now. Due to the proximity to the beach, we were able to get on the beach very early sans crowds, see the sunrise, go get breakfast in the hotel's restaurant, walk part of the Boardwalk, then go right back to the our room to clean up and take a nap. The convenience where your money is going if you opt to stay here. I would say that the front desk service is just ok, esp when you're paying pretty handsomely to stay here. For instance, the hotel advertises that you can reserve umbrella/chairs with a 10% voucher so I called from our room, spoke to the same male receptionist twice then the next day made our way to the receptionists in the lobby. The lady I spoke with proceeded to ask me if who I spoke with. I normally try to remember names but this particular one had not identified himself and I had made the last minute judgement call not to ask. When I asked why that mattered, she said we were supposed to pick up vouchers in the morning. Nowhere does it say that nor did the male receptionist mention this the two times I called. Nor did I understand why that mattered since we only wanted to use the umbrella/chair for less than two hours late in the day. Finally, she proceeded to look for the umbrella and chair vouchers. Even the box labeled "chairs" only contained umbrella vouchers. So basically what was supposed to be a 2 minute endeavor turned into a much longer one. To top it all off, no one was manning the umbrella/chair stand at either of the two kiosks we tried so after we spent a short time on the beach we asked for a refund with the lobby receptionist on our way back in. That employee we spoke with offered zero apology for our inconvenience or anything like that. He gave us an absolutely deadpan look then said he'd refund the charge. I'm glad he did but again, for the price you're paying for these rooms, you'd expect a bit more customer service. There's a vending machine in the lobby for which you can use your credit card to buy stuff like bottled water, wipes, sunscreen but we found a nearby convenience store (RB convenience on Rehobeth Beach) within pretty easy walking distance where the water was in larger quantities and cheaper. The restaurant and pool on site are convenient although the pool was out of towels a few hours before they closed and those were not restocked although I did see an employee bringing over towel disposal bin for used towels. Overall, the price you're paying here is for proximity and convenience, not for the customer service. The interior is a bit dated (hallway carpets could use some freshening, etc). Our room did have a microwave and mini fridge although the website only advertised it having a mini fridge. I recommend staying here if proximity and convenience are what you prioritize.

It is a huge selling point (which is why I selected this hotel for a short visit to the Rehoboth Beach Beach), but the hotel and its facilities look and feel like more like a rundown, two-star motel. I also felt mislead by their name "Sands", which I mistook as being one of the Sands Resorts.

The house contains rooms with private bathrooms and rooms on a floor with shared bathrooms. I was very hesitant to book at first when I read that I would have to "share" a bathroom. We just returned home after a 4 night stay here and we were more than satisfied! Tom, the house owner, is super kind, personable and hospitable. His other workers (Rayvn and Chris) are also so helpful and always get you what you need. You can request to have breakfast in the morning from a menu selection and they bring you your food out at the time you request to have it ready for you . Tom always came and checked up on us wherever we were sitting during breakfast to chat about random things, show us his puppy and ask us if we wanted more food or needed anything. The room we stayed in had a shared bathroom in the hallway (we stayed on the 2nd floor and other rooms shared 2 full baths and a half bath with us) and it was actually very clean. The staff did a good job replenishing towels each day and cleaning the shower/toilet/sink. Felt very comfortable here. We would love to try a room with a private bathroom (it was so booked up when we tried to get one initially so book way in advance!) I love that the beach was only a 4 minute walk and access to the main streets was only an alley walk away from the house. No complaints at all after this stay. When we sat out on the porch each morning and night, many people would walk by making comments about how pretty and interesting the establishment was.
