I moved to Salisbury in April, 2014. I am handicapped and my only means of transportation is my mobility scooter. I searched the neighborhood and discovered 11 restaurants within four blocks of my house and within the range of my scooter. Three of these serve breakfast. I have tried all three at least twice. My usual is either omelet, pancake or biscuit and gravy. Hendrix's menu was a simple and interesting selection. I have tried many selections and found all to be great. However, in the past three weeks, everything has been a disappointment. Three weeks ago, I ordered a pancake, It was not the usual half inch thick, dark golden brown, fluffy treat I was accustomed to. It was just a little over one eighth inch thick and was slick and slimy in my mouth. I left it on my plate after one bite. The next morning, I ordered my usual sausage and cheese omelet and it was half cooked with runny egg all through. I sent it back and instead of nuking it in the microwave as I asked, they made another one. Which, by the way, appeared to have been folded as usual but left on the grill too long and the bottom was overly browned and the top was extreme under cooked. I forked out the sausage and cheese from the bottom and ate the hash browns, which, BTW, were excellent. The next week I ordered the pancakes again and they, too, were under cooked. I sent them back and left to eat at another restaurant. Today, I tried to order my usual omelet with hash browns but as the lady was asking me what I wanted, another wait person came by and said there was a delay of half an hour for hash browns. So, like an idiot, I ordered pancakes instead. The first serving was as thin as a pregnant crepe and gooey inside. I sent them back and waited a long time for the second order to arrive and they also were under cooked. Again, I waited for the food. (Many people came in, ate, paid and left before the food came.) The third order of pancakes came and S & D asked if they were OK. I took the knife and made a slice in the center and the knife stuck to the dough that was supposed to be pancake. I told the lady to take it back and bring me a sausage biscuit instead. There was a long wait for the sausage biscuit and it too was a disappointment. Whatever it cost, was too much. I must say that this was one of the top ten most horrific experiences I have had in restaurants in my 75 years. An hour and forty minutes to eat a one ounce sausage patty in a cool biscuit was not my to my liking. I will be eating breakfast at the two other nearby restaurants in the future. I will, however, miss the fantastic service the Hendrix crew provides. I would rate the service as five stars but the food preparation, on this trip, deserves less than one star. read more

With a large group (9) visiting from out of state and Hendrix was recommended. We were a little hesitant at first, but had a great experience. Waitstaff very attentive and made good recommendations. I had never had hush puppies, but definitely a fan now! Same for the sweet tea. Great value for the money too. read more

Enjoyed breakfast here Saturday morning. Best breakfast I believe I've enjoyed in Salisbury ever. I had their two pancakes (sorry, I don't do eggs) and sausage breakfast. 2 Large, completely-filling-the- plate-up, nice thick pancakes. When I was ordering, I was very hungry and began to order 3 but changed my mind and only got two. I'm glad, 3 would have been too much. Very tasty, with two 3oz. sausage patties also very good. Despite the room being very crowded, the service was fine. Waitress was attentive, got our orders submitted and food before us in a very short period of time, especially considering how busy the restaurant was. Excellent breakfast and value in Salisbury is here at Hendrix. read more

Breakfast is great, service is good. Only problem I have is seating. Small place and booths are to small, large people can't get in them.

My sister works for this place and after hearing from her how good the food was I decided to order lunch for the family on the way home. NEVER AGAIN! My sister was in the car with me as we went through the drive thu. We ordered one Big Hendrix burger with lettuce, pickles, onions, mustard, mayo, cheese, and bacon... two cheeseburgers all the way, and a fry. At 1:20pm we had placed our order and was pulling around for the food. At 1:30 we had to send the server back because they had forgotten the Big Hendrix burger. At 1:40 we received the wrong order again (was told it was a cheeseburger with lettuce, pickles, onions, mustard, mayo, cheese, and bacon, a bacon cheeseburger all the way, and two cheeseburgers all the way. OK, that wasn't what we ordered but the it was at least close enough that my family would eat it so we paid and drove off. At 1:45 I was turning around because what was in the bag wasn't even what the server said it was! SERIOUSLY? I went inside and asked for a manager. Everyone in the restaurant acted like they had no clue what was going on, what they were doing, let alone where they were. The manager comes up to me and I explain that we did pay for it even though it was wrong but it still wasn't even what we were told it was and my family won't eat it. She completely tried to blow me off as a customer and immediately asked for me to walk all the way back outside to get her so SHE could explain the situation like I didn't know what we ordered for MY family. I immediately told her that I was the one that paid for the food and was eating it that I know what we ordered. Finally by 2:00pm (almost an hour) I was walking out with the correct food. I received no offer for money back (the order we paid for was more expensive than what we ordered). I was not the only one that was dissatisfied today either. While I was waiting inside there were two other customers that had called in their orders and the restaurant either didn't have record of it or they had only part of it correct. I admit, my sister was right... the food was good. I loved the fries... but the hassle in getting what you actually order and dealing with air headed servers is completely NOT worth it in my book. read more

Just got tossed out for calling the "clears a table full of nasty dirty dishes, wipes hands on apron, handles bread and toast then plates of food without washing her hands" waitress a pig after she gets bitched at cause I complained to the manager and she tries to apologize by laying her hands on me and snuggling up to my ear, like I would be interested in her old ass self. NASTY NASTY NASTY, dont believe me, sit at the table by the bathrooms/kitchen and watch for yourself! I kid you not... Next call, health inspector!!!! read more

Well not the place if you want customer service. I called in an order and drove across town to pick it up. When I get back with my food the order was wrong I drive back across town and they have now closed so I have to knock on the door and windows and get some help. When I ask what about their mistake they said they are sorry but make no effort to right the wrong. They say I can have my money back but I have to give them their food. Really what they going to do save it for tomorrow. WOW. Definitely not a place that like to treat their customers nice. Last time I'll be eating there. The one in Spencer has always been nice go there if you want Hendrix. read more

We usually go through the drive thru since I am 85 and don't walk good but yesterday we went in side. I got a hamburger and my wife got brunswick stew, which wasn't good and my hamburger was soggy and taste like it had been warmed over. I had asked the waitress--who was very good. how much is the stew without pups or grilled cheese and she said $3.00. My burger was 2.99. Went to pay and cashier said $10.06, I told her the price and she said it's l0.06 and she was rude. I paid it anyway and left--don't plan to go back. Bad experience! read more

Ordered breakfast from here this morning as we normally do a couple of times a week because we are working 12!hour shifts. We called ahead and asked if an omelet can be made with egg whites. We were told yes. We decided on our order and called back to place our order. When we tried to order the omelet with egg whites, they said they could not do that. I asked why and told her that we were just told that they could do that. I was told they could not do it because their normal cook was not there and the cook on duty refused to fix the omelet with egg whites as we had asked. I asked her what was so hard about cracking some eggs, separating the yolks and whites, beating the whites with the ham and cheese in them and cooking that on the grill. Again, we were told the cook would not do this. OK, so what about people who have allergies to egg yolks?? What about customer service? What happened to good or exceptional customer service?? You are in a customer oriented business whose business depends on your customers to make money, but yet you refuse to do something so simple to please a customer or to make them come back to your restaurant. Your cook should prepare food the way the customer requests it to be prepared or the next time they may take their business to another restaurant who will fix food the way they want it prepared!!! If I refused to assist the public in my job, I would be fired. Oh and by the way, when our order arrived, they left the toast out of one order and did not send extra syrup as we requested.
