Hendrix is a beautiful place indoors and on the rooftop. I love the industrial vibe and the atmosphere is great. There is valet and a large staircase to climb to get to the restaurant. I started with the chicken pot pie empanadas which were small with big flavor. I had the pleasure of trying to be shrimp and grits with arugula and red peppers. I was also able to try the pork chop which was delicious as well. The Hendrix team is exceptionally nice and considerate. The chef, the general manager, and another member stopped by our table. We came to Hendrix for a graduation dinner and were absolutely blown away with the food, drinks, and service. Kelsey was our server and was so sweet, calm, and prompt. Food was timed perfectly, everything came out correctly, and there was not a single complaint out of our 12 person party. And don't forget to at least check out the rooftop! Had dinner at Hendrix this evening 6:45pm. We was initially sat at a table where water leaked from the ceiling on my dress shirt. After a couple drops I kindly us asked Hostess if we could move to another table. The hostess moved us to a different table with some hesitation. Our service waiter was short and curt ; this particular waiter really needs to work on his waiter serving etiquette. We ordered drinks and appetizer's which were serve in a fairly reasonable amount of time. We also ordered an entre' our main course was the Ribeye Steak. Again, the steak was served in a reason amount of time. However. we ordered the steak medium and it was served medium well. The steak had a lot of interior fat and the steak was very chewy, kind of like it was a frozen steak which was very quickly thawed or it was a low grade cut of meat. Hendrix's has nice drinks but the food was less than to be desired. Okay, we were here in November for dinner and it was excellent, gave it 5 stars. So when I saw they were having an event on New Year's Eve, it was a no-brainer right? Well I guess I should have used my brain. Worst New Year's Eve event I've ever been to. If that was my only experience there, and I could, I would have given it zero stars. First, not cheap. Second, did not have their valet parking that night. Third, they removed all the tables, except for 3 to the side. I had the expresso manhattan made with Lovelace coffee. It was AMAZING. I also had a Weller on the rocks and it was good as usual. Wife had a ​light beer. We had the fruit and cheese plate and the mussels​. Themussels​s were yummy. Would have like more bread, but didn't need it. The rooftop is great. I am leaving the review below and adding an update. The GM Wade reached out to us about our previous visit. Do not want to go into all the details but let me tell you he is the best choice for GM. As he made sure our next visit was spectacular. Everything we had previously heard about for Hendrix turned out to be accurate. The second time around the food was amazing. My wife who does not eat oysters tried them and loved them. Had Wade not reached out this place would have never been on our to go list again. But now it will be on our date night list. Everything we ate that evening was delicious, and the service was a complete 180 from the first go around. Very thankful we gave it a second go, and we will be back!!! PREVIOUS REVIEW We ordered five things. Three out of five were unavailable. With such a limited menu it was a bit odd to be out of things when your open so late. Our server was more like bummer tough crap. The bar upstairs had some of the most unfriendly bartenders we have ever encountered. Which was a bummer as the rooftop bar was cool. Should have just walked away than, but heard amazing things. So wanted to try. Can honestly say was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we have ever had, especially considering the cost. Great tapas style menu. This is my go to spot for a "girl's night". It's got a great vibe that's fancy without being stuffy. The cheese plate is fantastic and they have a nice drinks menu. Don't skip out on desert, which changes seasonally. The rooftop bar is a great spot to take pictures and overlook the Main Street District in downtown Columbia. Went here with some friends on a Thursday evening after seeing a movie at the Nickelodeon Theatre. Showed up at 9:30 in the evening we were promptly seated by a very friendly hostess and servers. Our server Cameron was very attentive to our needs and very helpful when it came to selecting menu items and drinks. We tried a variety of the small tapas, everything that we had was a very good quality especially the fried oysters they were extremely tasty and perfectly seasoned. The gnocchi was to die for very rich and buttery. After dinner we went up to the rooftop and relaxed on the couches for a very pleasant evening, even though it was somewhat warm they had fans out and there was a breeze. it was nice to overlook the beautiful city of Columbia with friends. read more

Heaters keep you warm while sipping delicious cocktails made by fun bartenders. We had the pleasure of checking out Hendrix tonight while celebrating a birthday. We loved the vibe, the decor, the view from the top, and of course-- the food. Our server was helpful and kind without being imposing. And actually, she had such a calm demeanor that I actually liked when she came to our table to check on us. As the vegetarian of the couple, I was shocked and SO pleasantly surprised to find TWO veggie entrees on the menu. So many restaurants offer one vegetarian option-- maybe-- and too often it's a salad topped with meat, forcing the vegetarian to order a stripped salad (read: lettuce with some cucumbers and a a few pale tomatoes... yuck). I was over the moon to have a choice between two dishes! I had the vegan paella, and it was delicious (I love hearty, colorful vegetables). Bf had the beef entree, which he said was better the the filet mignon he had elsewhere the night before. The bill: 1 beer, 1 cocktail, 1 small plate, 1 dessert, 2 entrees= $122 (including tip). It wasn't inexpensive, but I'm happy to support the local economy and someone's entrepreneurial dream while satisfying my tastebuds. We'll be back! read more

I came here for dinner for a company social and the food was great! I enjoyed the appetizers, especially the focaccia with cheese. I liked the dinners however I felt that the portion sizes were small for the price. For dinner I had keylime cheesecake which was good except the foam could have been sweeter. What an amazing and refreshing meal! Columbia has been awaiting a farm to table restaurant that really showcases amazing ingredients and treats those ingredients with so much respect. I would suggest that when dining, go with a group of four and everyone order a different dish. Enjoy each other's company and share the plates, you will not be disappointed. I was really surprised with their bloody mary; it is not overloaded like one might get elsewhere. It was clean and delightful. I can't wait to dine on the rooftop. Wow huge disappointment. In my opinion this place is way overrated. Beautiful establishment but the menu and food is ridiculous. First of all you damn near need to Google half the words on the menu to know what it is and the food was hilarious. I couldn't help but laugh when my friend ordered the fish n chips and the fish looked like a small can of tuna and the chips looked half burnt. My other friend ordered the pot belly that came with a side of Ritz crackers. Wthelll kind of Foo Foo ish ish is that. It was so bad we didn't even bother to order entrees. What I can say is that the rooftop bar is cute. Other than that this is a hell no in my book. Smh read more

I'd say the best part about this restaurant is the rooftop area. It really is a nice place to grab drinks and hang out. I will say though, make sure you really like the sun because there are no umbrellas/shaded areas. We went here for brunch and the menu is a bit limited. We all ended up trying the huevos rancheros which was underwhelming. The tostada on the bottom seemed house made but was soggy (rather than crispy) and difficult to cut. My eggs were cooked through and not sunny side up like is traditionally served on huevos rancheros. I wouldn't go back for brunch but maybe the dinner menu is better! read more

This is definitely one of my favorite spots in all of Columbia. It's one of the only rooftop bars in the city. The atmosphere is awesome, and the bartenders are very knowledgeable on drinks and how to make them strong. They have very cute patio furniture for people to sit on and plenty of space at the bar on the roof. They also have a little area with a grassy backdrop for those who are in a brew of a new picture. This is a great place to hang out with friends, go on a date, or even come to by yourself. The music they have playing varies but all great stuff. I usually get the watermelon smash on their menu as well as the fried oysters and I've been satisfied each and every time.
