I was introduced yesterday by my sibling. I told her that it reminded me of Arthur Storey park, but it's almost like a miniature Buffalo Bayou with the plenty of watering holes that you can go fishing, but it's catch and release. The walking trails are a bit of a labyrinth with it's different directions. I'm sure you can burn off all the calories your heart desires. There aren't any physical benches, but use your imagination; sit on a rock along the water bank and watch the ducks, but don't allow your children to taunt the innocent creatures. I like how the trails aren't linear slope, but some of the paths are a bit steep, but not too much. Easy level of walking across the board. The parking situation is a bit awkward with two lots that near the curve, but there's a full parking lot that can hold a few vehicles. There aren't many shaded areas so bring plenty of water and wear sun blocking clothing if you have sensitive skin in this Texas heat bath!

It basically takes up a neighborhood block with a nice fenced in perimeter all around. The 10 photos included prove what a worthy asset this park is to the local community.

Mostly #3, but quite a few good times at #2. #1 usually had too many shoebies. We stayed at the Holiday Inn, which was terrible. The Tipsy Turtle is adjacent and was closed. Nice walkover wooden bridge. Showers and restrooms. We had a good time here. Try it. Have fun. Be prepared.

Tiki Island is a waterfront community of uniquely distinct beach houses situated on streets with…read morePolynesian names such as Lanai, Bora Bora, Lotus and Papeete to name a few. Growing up, I always wanted to visit this island when driving by on my way to the beach in Galveston. I finally did and was not disappointed when I recently vacationed here. You will find it directly off the first exit on I-45 on the way to Galveston (Exit 4). The beach houses are situated on Galveston Bay and only a stones-throw away from the beach. Hop on your golf cart and explore every inch of the island, as there's so much to view. There's a ton of hidden charm; check out the artistically crafted mailboxes! Our beach house was on a canal and had its own boat launch and dock which we fished off of late night and into the early morning. The village has a volunteer fire department, city hall, park and Tiki Island Chapel, an inter-denominational church, which serves the island as a religious center with services every Sunday. I cannot wait to return to Tiki Island, as I consider it Texas best kept secret!

The other time I've been here was when my dad wanted to put his kayak in the lake to "test". I like that there's a trail that covers the perimeter of the lake. Despite being a small park, it doesn't get as packed because there's three other parks in the area: Stevenson, Lynn Gripon, Challenger 7. There's not much shade unfortunately so walking in the summer can be a heat bath of sweat. Watch out for the dog poop splatter on the boardwalk since we have careless dog owners who won't pick up their dog feces. Overall, a decent park to walk off 4 miles easily.

If had been any hotter, it would not have been good for the walk because the trail was not very shady. The lake itself is NOT accessible for swimming or for the dogs. It looks like fishing and kayaking was allowed which is accessed from the docks. It also looked great for gatherings as there was a huge gazebo type shelter for a party.

Unlike the noisy, scalding, and car-dominated pavement on Seawall that most of Galveston beaches border, access 1C only touches grass, sand, and water. Hitting the popular main beaches has its own time and place. But if you're looking for a more peaceful experience and plenty of personal space, look no further.

Westview Parkway Park is a public park located along 16th St and surrounded by residential homes…read more This park actually runs several blocks along 16th St. with a paved sidewalk complete with wooden memorial benches. Most of the blocks are just patches of green space but towards the center of those green squares you'll find a small children's play area complete with swings and play scape. There are three other blocks that feature tennis courts that are also lined for Pickleball that are semi-fenced. It's a good place to get your steps in, knock the ball around or ride a bike, but not worth seeking out. 3*
