I…read moream a patient in the El Paso office and I'm in the process of changing my referral to another dermatologist because of how awful Epiphany's customer service is. Not only do they not know how to fill out paperwork/work with your insurance, they also are unwilling to escalate your issues to help ensure your care is taken seriously and in a timely manner. I have now sunk 3 months of faith in Epiphany, and I deeply regret it. I was excited to be under PA Meraz's care, but not at the expense of working with this underperforming office team. I require a prior authorization in order for a prescription to be dispersed for my condition - Epiphany has not been able to process this one simple form for almost 8 weeks now despite me calling them nearly every week. They have two biologics coordinators for all of their dermatology locations under the Epiphany umbrella, and only one of them, Angie, has a phone number to call... but she NEVER responds. I have left her 3+ messages and have never received a response. I even worked with my insurance provider to find out what documentation they required and found the singular form Epiphany needed to provide in order to get the pharmacy to release my prescription. I have called the El Paso Epiphany office over 10 times, and they only give me Angie's number as a solution without the willingness to escalate the issue further. It took me finding the Epiphany HQ number and calling to get ahold of the office manager before there was any traction on my case - after 7 weeks! He assured me I would get a call back from Angie that day, and guess what, I still have not heard from her. So my prescription has been put on a hold status until she finally decides to submit the one form necessary. At this rate, I'll be empaneled with another provider before she takes the time of day to fill out the form.

I called to get an appointment, and was stonewalled. He's booked solid for over a month, she said. I can put you on a cancellation list, she said. But my Dr had made it clear I needed a biopsy this week. I hung up in distress. There was no empathy at all, not an ounce of compassion, and no willingness to help me in any way. When I called back to speak to the manager, I don't know what she had told her, but the manager too refused to help me, and instead started in on a lecture about hanging up the first time! She was more interested in yelling at me over a perceived slight than getting my cancer biopsied. Along the way she did mention that the Dr would be there in the morning and to be sure that the faxed referral from my Dr was sent. My Dr. told me that the office had refused the referral even before I called the first time. I never heard back from them. I had thought I could trust that they would be there for me in such a situation. Turned out to be cancer! Dr Ondo himself has always been very pleasant, but what good is that if you can't get past the gatekeepers?
