Chicken bowl
Bianca P.

I went to Hemingway today it's about 20-25 mins from my house. I got the bowl, with chicken, cilantro rice and plantains and the tres leches cake. The bowl was good but it was smallllll amount of rice . I just feel like the price you pay for the bowl more should be added . The tres leches left me very disappointed like I wish I could have gotten a refund for it that's how much it's supposed to be a dulche de leche tres leches and their was none of that on it or in it . I would get the bowl again bc I loved the flavoring but I def would not get the dessert again.

Cuban Salchipapa - sweet plantains instead of chicharrones
Rachel M.

We get the same thing here every single time. Cuban Salchipapas add Sweet plantains subtract chicharrones. For all the times we have ordered it, it never lets us down. It's filled to the rim with Cuban shredded pork, fried yucca, sauces, greens, and sweet plantain really makes it a great sweet and savory combo. This last time we came, it was even busier than usual at Armature Works because of the Chinese New Year fest going on at Water Works Park. I was going to get a sushi burrito at Zukku and they said it would take an hour after waiting a half hour just to order. My husband came here and he got our food right away. It is big enough to share and definitely filling. They are always friendly and welcoming here and without a doubt this is definitely our go to order.

Armature is pretty pricey when it comes to food. One of the restaurants that almost hits its value is Hemingway's Cuban kitchen. A fantastic Cuban sandwich and I loved the rice and beans. The atmosphere around armature works is where it's at. Very good.

Service was friendly and took fair amount of time to be served but place was busy. I was not "wowed" at all by the black bean burger. It was pretty dry and bland to be honest. But the tostado fries were good as well as the shrimp tostones. 4/5 stars.

Breakfast Cuban

Hey hey hey so far so good. Had to grab some breakfast before heading back home. Got here at 0930hrs and sat down quickly. I ordered the west Tampa breakfast. So far so good. Definitely and great spot to start your Sunday morning off the rip. My dish was very tasty and to me plenty of food for breakfast. I like small meals instead of large meal. Coffee is great. Just how I like it. A definite for locals and visitors.

This was my favorite stop at the food hall! I was interested in a bunch of their appetizers, but since we were trying lots of spots, we only got one thing. We decided to get the Cuban Salchipapa. They were loaded Yuca fries. The chicharrónes on them were so good. The combination of flavors was great. I'd definitely come back to try more!

El Ultimo

Pros: *cute pop up location inside armature works *quick service *food was pretty good Cons: *sandwich was a bit too messy due to too much sauce *el ultimo steak sandwich was more of an onion sandwich with a little bit of steak *a little pricy

Worst customer service Tampa.. by far. After making my order. We sat right by the counter. The guy on the front counter Left our food for over 30 mins on top of the counter without letting us know the food was ready. Poor customer service and by that point the food was cold and soggy. Won't return. Don't waist your time going.

Chicharróns

Hemingway's at Armature Works! This is one of my top favorite places to eat at Armature Works. Their Chicharróns are da bomb! If you are on a keto diet....this is the dish for you! If aren't on a keto diet, you may want to share this appetizer with a friend. Regardless...give this a try. It comes with a slice sauce, creamy cilantro sauce, and a lime wedge. I suggest squeezing the lime over the the Chicharróns. Then trying the sauces. I like them both so now I drizzle both on top. On this particular visit my party and I were sharing a table with strangers and I insisted they try one (they never had them before). They were very hesitant to try them. But dang I love introducing new foods to people. I get overly excited. LOL It made me smile when I saw their face light up and then ask me where the could find these. :) Hemingway's !!!!

Happy hour sangria
Tina L.

My happy hour peach samgria was good & the price was only $7. I ordered a side of beans & rice. The rice was hard & undercooked & the beans were good. I watched the cook prepare a customers cuban sandwich next to some kitchen rags. I was disgusted!

Cilantro Rice

We came to Armature Wrirks for Noon Years Eve kids party. We decided try a Cuban sandwich from Hemmingways. Overall the sandwich was just okay, lacked flavor and was bland. Ordered a side of the cilantro rice, also very bland. Service is really the only thing I liked, the gentlemen taking our order was polite and efficient with the crowds. We waited about 20 minutes for the sandwich and rice. Probably won't eat a Cuban here again, may try something else.

Connie N.

Amazing Sangria and reasonable prices. I would recommend the original red! The price was $10 per drink. Ordered the Hemingway Cuban sandwich for $18. I would have posted the picture, but it was so amazing that I ate it before I realized what I did! The portions were enough for 2 individuals if you are looking for a quick snack or bite to eat.

**Quick, solid Cuban food right by the mall**…read more Heading to the mall and wanted something better than food court fare -- La Teresita was right down the street, so we popped in. Skipped the sit-down cafeteria side and grabbed the counter seating instead, which had a fun bar-style setup. Service was fast -- they got our water order in immediately, and we followed up with a large café con leche. Plenty of coffee for the price, though the red plastic cup was a letdown compared to a proper mug. Food came out in under five minutes, which is impressive for how good it was. I got the Milanesa -- a breaded steak in red sauce -- with yellow rice and black beans on the side, and it was excellent for the price. My wife had the Ropa Vieja with yucca and Moros rice, and it didn't disappoint: tender, soft beef with rich tomato sauce and just a hint of olive coming through. We also added a side of tostones with their garlic sauce, which were absolutely delicious. For a quick stop before the mall, this exceeded expectations -- great flavor, fast service, and solid prices. Would go back even without the mall as an excuse.

Ordered ropa vieja which isn't available on weekends but they checked with the kitchen and got it for me. Yucca and rice and beans to complement it. Cafe con leche is a must! It was a bustling weekend so we sat at countertop. Still plenty of seats. Good came out very quickly and servers were very accommodating even wi tv my broken Spanish lol

Drinks only review. Stopped here after Riverwalking over to History Museum, and decided that a…read moreproper mojito would make the museum visit even better. Sat at the outdoor bar, and received prompt service. My mojito was tall, well muddled (if Columbia Cafe can't get a mojito right, who can?) and had all the right components, just a bit too much ice. Offspring's strawberry daiquiri was also quite refreshing. We didn't realize there's an entire other bar and seating area (air conditioned!) up on the second floor museum level - the bar up there looks quite ornate and fits in with the museum-oriented atmosphere.

My wife ordered the empanadas and the half 1905 salad and I ordered the half and half......half Cuban and half 1905 salad. My wife should have added 'bring them together' but she didn't and the server didn't bother to ask so the empanadas came out and everything else came out 15 minutes later. My wife had a cocktail and the bill was $60.20. Issues to fix: 1)I ordered a Coca Cola, $4.00 and in 92 degree weather it melts in 5 minutes. We were there for an hour and not one time did she ask if I'd like a refill. 2)When she made the 1905 table side she literally 'dropped' a handful of salad ON THE FLOOR between my wife's and my seat......she kind of chuckled, gave us our salads and walked away. She literally left the SALAD ON THE FLOOR THE ENTIRE MEAL! During the course of our meal probably 20 employees walked by and never bothered to pick it up. That in itself was the epitome of laziness and complete lack of respect to the customer. Our bill was $60.20 and I tipped $12 which normally I'm a 30% tipper and I could kick myself for giving her 20%. She deserved zero. I know I will never get a response from management but do you think I will ever come back? Nyet.

This dish was uniquely tasty with its fusion of Cuban and Italian flavors. The owner of this place was great as he talked about the history of his food and the place itself so it gave the experience a personal touch.
