Can I point out that my inner Beavis would be proud that I used the word gash. Anyhow - back to the review. Jim did an amazing job of communicating expectations and being completely honest about what I could expect, and then went out of his way to schedule a visit out my way to check it out. Well, he showed up exactly when he said he would, and was super polite even though I'm a knucklehead and had him wait in his car for 15 minutes while I wrapped up a call. He was super friendly, got right down to business, and then gave me a very straightforward answer that made sense as to why he thought it was a bad idea to repair this particular gash. (that's three) What he told me made sense, and I appreciated his honesty. He could have easily gotten upset and then done something and charged me for it so as not to waste his time and energy, and I would have understood. Instead, he was direct and honest, and his reasoning was solid. I asked him what I could do for him, and he said nothing, shook my hand, and sped off to his next job. I know a lot of folks get on Yelp to whine about some bad experience they had. This is the second time in as many weeks that I have had an incredible experience with a small local business, I figured it deserved some sort of recognition. So Jim nailed it - set real expectations up front, was direct and correct about any changes, and was as friendly as a person could be. I was unable to find anything I went to one car Upholstery shop as I was going to do the entire two seats and carpet because I could not find anything that matched and was quoted $2500. I then searched the Internet for Car upholstery shops that could repair my seat and came across P & M Upholstery in Indio. I took my truck in and asked if they had a material that could match and to my surprise, they came out with the material it was almost exactly a match. I asked them how much it would cost to repair the seat and was quoted $180. I must say at that point I was ecstatic. I also asked if they could match the stitching and they said no problem. I asked when they could do the job and they said tomorrow and asked how long it would take. They said it would take one day. That same day I returned and dropped the truck off. I came back to pick it up the next day. When I picked it up, I was astonished at the quality and the perfect workmanship of matching the passenger seat. I cannot say enough about how professional and how wonderful a job they did on my truck. He was yelling at his daughter on the phone, who was trying to interpret for me. I also found him inconsiderate of my time, with him wanting me to come to his shop to explain (for the third time) what I wanted, which was actually a simple job, only for him to tell me to come back again tomorrow because he was too busy for me to explain the job to him (again). I'll never be back.
