First diamond on left is now the one missing also scratches my finger so I never wear it.
Elizabeth L.

After buying a 2 carat diamond ring that was a gift from my husband for having our baby two stones fell out of my ring within 4 months. The first they were willing to fix because it was right after purchase. The second - despite having the stone in my possession - they would not put back in. Clearly there was an issue with the setting that they were not interested in taking care of once they had our money. They cited the fact I did not purchase their several hundred dollar warranty. I have never needed a warranty for fine jewelry before because a reputable store would fix this, especially after such a short time. This is just a money making chain of stores. The warranty is void they push like crazy is voided and nonrefundable if you do not come in EVERY 6 MONTHS and have the ring checked. Who with children or working full-time can every six months of their life come in and have the ring checked? No one does that and it is a commission-based scam to get more money from you. Because they are lab-grown diamonds they are not worth anything if you try to resell them either. I was shocked and appalled that they were okay with me walking around with a broken diamond ring after 4 months. The products are clearly low quality and the customer service a farce. Very sad and disappointed.

Thank you Helzberg Diamonds!!!! Photography by my Amazing Fiance! I love my engagement ring

My watch stopped working, and replacing the battery had been sitting on my to-do list. I normally…read moretrek out to SouthPark Mall, but I wasn't looking forward to making that drive just for a watch battery. I searched Yelp for watch repair and discovered Bailey's Fine Jewelry on Providence Road, just a few miles from Uptown. What a wonderful discovery. From the moment I walked in, this felt different from your typical jewelry store. Bailey's is a beautiful, spacious, family-owned jeweler, but what impressed me most was how welcoming and comfortable the experience felt. Bailey's has been locally owned in North Carolina since 1948, and the Charlotte location carries on the legacy of longtime Charlotte jeweler Morrison Smith. I was greeted immediately and escorted to the watch counter. The associate taking care of me offered coffee, tea, a soft drink or sparkling water while I waited. I chose sparkling water and was handed a glass bottle of Perrier tucked into a black Bailey's koozie. Now that is a nice touch. While they worked on my watch, I wandered around. The store is gorgeous and much larger than I expected, with fine jewelry alongside beautiful gifts, frames, crystal, jewelry boxes and other pieces. I also appreciated being able to browse without feeling followed or pressured. The clientele was equally welcoming and refreshingly diverse--different ages, backgrounds and styles. Nobody needed to look a certain way to belong there. For a high-end jewelry store, I found that especially refreshing. You can also see into the watchmaking/work area through glass, which I loved. Everything looked immaculate and organized, and being able to see the professionals at work added a sense of transparency. Eventually I settled into one of the big club chairs by the windows with my Perrier and a jewelry magazine. A gentleman brought my finished watch directly to me on a little velvet tray. Such an elegant touch for something as simple as replacing a battery. Then came the biggest surprise. I walked over to pay, and the associate told me there was no charge for the battery replacement. Instead, Bailey's asks customers to make a donation to a local charity. How fantastic is that? I later looked it up because I wanted to understand the program. Bailey's calls it "A Time to Give." Rather than charging customers for watch-battery replacement, Bailey's absorbs most of the cost and asks for a charitable donation instead. Each store selects organizations to support, and Bailey's says the program has now donated more than $1 million to the communities it serves. I happily donated $20. As I was leaving, I tried to return the Bailey's koozie and just take my Perrier. Nope. She told me to keep the koozie, too. From a customer-service and branding perspective, somebody at Bailey's understands hospitality. That little black Bailey's koozie is coming home with me, and every time I use it, I'll remember this experience. That's how you create a customer--and perhaps an accidental brand ambassador. My only caution is parking. The Charlotte store is directly on Providence Road, and the front parking area is tight. Pulling back into fast-moving traffic requires patience, so take your time. I'm going to investigate whether there's another parking option for my next visit. And there will be a next visit. I went to Bailey's Fine Jewelry because I needed a watch battery. I left wanting to come back and explore the store. That says a lot. So if your watch has stopped ticking, don't automatically head to the mall. Bailey's offers watch-battery replacement, and that simple errand supports something much bigger in the community. Life is too short not to sleep well, eat well, travel well--and now I'm adding shop well. Bailey's Fine Jewelry, you've officially made the list.

I recently brought in a small custom design order and was assisted by Ed (customer service…read moreextraordinaire). In the process of completing the order, an unfortunate miscommunication occurred which Ed handily addressed and resolved with real finesse, reflecting his years of experience performing effective customer interface in the jewelry business. Thank you for everything, Ed (and thank you Bailey's for recognizing Ed's talent and ability handling the inevitable glitches which can arise when serving the public). I remain a satisfied Bailey's Fine Jewelry customer---thanks to Ed's swift response and expertise.

Terrible Customer Service Experience at Zales…read more They need to be rated a ZERO. I'm extremely disappointed with the service my husband and I received today at Zales. Last year, before I underwent brain surgery, my husband's wedding ring--which we purchased from Zales--broke within the first year. While I was in the hospital, my husband went to the store and spoke with an associate, who documented the issue and gave him a receipt for the replacement process. Today, we returned to the store to complete the transaction. Upon entering, no one acknowledged us--not even a simple "hello" or "we'll be right with you." We waited patiently for 15-20 minutes, which was understandable since they were helping other customers. However, the overall attitude in the store was cold and unwelcoming. When one of the sales associates, Vinny, became available, he didn't greet us or ask who was next. He just walked over with an unpleasant demeanor. I first asked about my ring, which we discussed briefly, then we moved on to my husband's ring. We found a replacement, but when he started the transaction, something didn't seem right. We were suddenly being charged over $200, despite having a warranty on the original ring. When I asked for clarification--simply wanting him to break down the charges--Vinny became defensive and began raising his voice at me. My husband had to step in and ask him not to yell at me, but instead of de-escalating, Vinny became even more disrespectful. It was shocking and completely unacceptable behavior from someone in customer service. This isn't just about one rude employee. The entire atmosphere of the store was unpleasant. No warmth, no professionalism, and no sense that customers are valued. Vinny's attitude was especially appalling--disrespectful, condescending, and aggressive. After everything, he just said "we're done," and walked off. Zales needs to seriously reevaluate the staff at this location. Customer service should never make people feel disrespected or like they're an inconvenience. What was supposed to be a simple transaction turned into a stressful and disheartening experience. Something needs to change. I also wanted to share the photos below to show what I went through last May when my husband's ring fell apart. Around the same time, I had to undergo over five hours of surgery to remove a tumor nearly the size of a softball that was pressing on my brain. After enduring such a traumatic experience, being treated so disrespectfully by your salesperson was especially upsetting and completely unacceptable.

The team there is fantastic as to find out on your first visit they are very knowledgeable about the gems and accessories. I already bought 3 accessories from this location and is consistent every time! So I definitely recommend this to anyone who is new to jewelry and wants good benefits and care for when you did make your first purchase as you can come in anytime and get a free cleaning on them! Also might I add in, it was very late when I made my purchase but Vincent was very patient with me. He even stayed after closing to help wrap up my jewelry in wrapping paper and put it into a gift bag. Truly amazing service, definitely deserves five stars!!!!
