Twenty years after purchasing a three stone diamond ring from Diamonds Direct I returned to upsize it. If you didn't know, they are owned by Signet, whoa also owns Kay, Zales, and Jared. When Diamonds Direct sold me the three stone ring they couldn't stop talking about their lifetime trade in guarantee. When I presented the current ring suddenly the pitch changed to "only the center stone" and despite twenty years of inflation I was offered about 2/3rds of the value I paid in 2005, and for the center diamond only, they just wanted to steal the gold and the other two stones. I bought a $10k ring because my wife found one she liked, but we kept hers, and I'm severely disappointed in their bullshit. This is an update to my previous poor review. I spoke with Mark Czarnecki on the phone after my review. He was apologetic and said he wanted to meet me when I picked my ring up. He said he wanted to give me some sort of monetary apology and I told him I did not want that, I didn't intend on spending more money after that experience. He said he wanted to fix that. Well today I called on my way in, was told he was there I got my ring, a man came out and shook my hand. Watched me put on my ring and I said I was happy with it. Then he walked away and that was the end of the visit. Not any sort of acknowledgement of our previous conversation. Went into diamonds direct to shop for engagement rings and find my style. We went on a Saturday morning during a sale and it was packed but we were able to get one on one attention right away. They have the process of ring shopping down to a science. Beatriz was so helpful answering all my questions and helping me find exactly what I wanted. We did not feel rushed and I was able to try on anything I wanted. I found a few options that I loved and she did a great job narrowing my choices down, but not making me choose one favorite, and not discussing prices. She answered any questions I had and I learned a lot about diamonds and rings. We did not get offered any champagne like I heard they do on Saturdays so I'm not sure how that comes in. My husband and I have shopped with Diamond's Direct for over a decade and have never had any issues up until recent. The last two times I have taken our rings to be cleaned has been a disaster. I've had to wait extended periods of time and have had to send the rings back to be cleaned a second time. This place came extremely highly recommended so my BF and I decided to give it a try when we looked for an engagement ring. Few days before we went, I chatted online with a diamond expert through their website, explaining what I would like and she was very accommodating, worked with me on the design and made suggestions. Great. We made an appt and went to the store. It was a Saturday, so it makes sense that the store was busy, but it was so loud, my BF and I could not hear ourselves when talking to each other. That store was a complete zoo, people leaning on every display, nobody was wearing a mask even though their website was pretty clear about COVID-19 protocols and at the time my BF and I were not vaccinated, so that did not make me feel particularly safe. Maybe everyone else was vaccinated? Alright, fine. The saleslady, to her credit, did read the notes that the diamond expert left from the few days ago when I chatted with her, so she knew what we wanted, and pointed out some alright-looking settings. It was an ok experience, until we decided to look at diamonds. My BF showed the specs for one he picked out online and she made it sound like it was literally trash (she even said he picked out "the cheapest diamond on the website", FAR from the truth at $10K) and that the diamond she wanted to sell was so much better (it...wasn't...). The setting for the ring, the more we looked at it, the more shoddy it started to look, as if somebody who was in a hurry made it. But somehow we made it through the meeting, and she said she will do research on more diamonds and call us. This was few weeks ago and still waiting! :) When we got in a car after leaving, we looked at each other and burst out laughing. Nope, not doing business with snooty, entitled people who don't care about the beginning of our special journey. Ring shopping was supposed to be fun and we both felt as if we just went to DMV. I am going to take a guess and say that it REALLY depends on a salesperson you'd get, so I am not saying that you should not give this place a try. Although diamonds direct has a wide variety of rings to choose from, I would not recommend buying a ring from here. After having my engagement ring for only 1.5 months, the center Diamond fell out due to faulty prongs. That shouldn't be happening after only 1.5 months of having the ring. We took it back to get it fixed and when we picked it up, the diamond is still very loose within the prongs. In my review I am writing about my experience and the experience my fiancee received at two different times. So take that for what it's worth. My fiancee went with her girlfriends the first time just to see what she even wanted in an engagement ring. Her and her friends had a hard time getting the attention of a sales persons. Eventually a gentleman attended them but did not make them feel important enough to want their business. He sized them up right away, that they weren't buying today, so why bother. Reluctantly, we went back a week later, together. This time we received a much better experience. A sales lady, Morgan, assisted us and we had a much better experience. She was very patient and understanding. We shopped around for a while to narrow down our choices. We still didn't buy that day but we didn't feel pressure or disappointment from Morgan. A couple of days later we emailed Morgan back saying we wanted to come back in a make a selection. She was very helpful in educating us with all that goes into buying an engagement ring. They had a great financing deal at the time, that made it an easy choice. So we finally came back and made the purchase. The ring came in about a month later and was exactly what we wanted. Forgive the length of this review but I think it's owed because of our wonderful experience at Diamonds Direct. My husband and I will celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary this month and he wanted to upgrade my center stone to mark the occasion. He has not shopped for a diamond for quite some time but we've always heard great things about Diamonds Direct. We went during the week so it wasn't so busy and we were greeted by Lana Hale. She listened to what I had in mind and started pulling a few items so we could take a look. Because I didn't want to change my ring, I had a little difficulty in looking at stones that were already set in other rings. Lana suggested that we move to the "diamond room" so we can look at loose stones properly. She brought out a few stones and explained the details of each of the stones, which gave us a lot of options. It's very apparent that Lana is extremely knowledgeable in diamonds. But none of the stones didn't feel exactly right. They also didn't have a lot in-house of my preferred fancy cut, the radiant cut, so she did search to see what stones they had company wide and offered to get them shipped overnight so we could look at them. She identified 2 stones that fit what we were looking for and said we can come back the next day to look at them. I truly appreciated this because this isn't a small purchase for us (and certainly not their largest) but we felt Lana and Diamonds Direct really wanted us to be happy and didn't try to rush us. Lana called us the next day and said that only 1 of the 2 stones came in because the one store had a customer looking at the same diamond. She did say that it's still worth taking a look because it's still really beautiful. We arrived later that day and went back to the "diamond room" with Lana to look at the new stone. She was right, it was definitely more in line of what we were looking for. It was certainly exciting to find something you only envisioned. The level of service exceeded our expectations but it didn't stop there. Lana asked the jeweler to remove my original diamond and just lay the new diamond on my ring so I can get an idea of what it's going to look like... I went from a princess cut to a radiant cut so I knew it was going to look different. She also offered to place my original princess cut in a pendant. To top it all off, everything was going to be ready in 1 week! And when I saw my new ring, I was truly floored. Their workmanship is incredible. I'm super happy. They do have a great selection and are very helpful. Pricing is just ok--I expected deeper discounts for a company that touts 'cutting out the middle man.' None of the rings fit my size 9 and 10 fingers. Some barely fit my pinky. I'm not that big really. That was frustrating. Anything is want would have to be ordered, and that takes 6 weeks. No fun. Everything began to look the same after an initial peruse. And the lighting is designed to make everything sparkle. A high quality stone does not require fancy lighting to look amazing. You can tell their designs are mass produced. You'll find no unique pieces there. And they carry nothing better than an "I" in color and SI1 or SI2 clarity--these inclusions can be seen with the naked eye. Anything better, and it must be ordered. Believe it or not, I found similar quality pieces for a quarter of the price at Sam's Club. I wanted something unique, however, and spent just a little more at an estate jeweler shop nearby for a one-of-a-kind estate piece that is of amazing quality. I couldn't be happier. read more

Unfortunately my experience has brought down the rating rather than the product. I had purchase an Engagement ring from Diamonds Direct unknown to my now Fiancé. The initial picking process was pretty good, my jeweler was able to find and show me the ring I had been imagining. I was told they would contact me when the ring was ready so I made sure to save all the numbers on the card they gave me in case my finance was with me when they called. Fast Forward a few weeks later and I am driving with my Fiancé around 6:30 PM. I get a call from an unsaved number and I answer it through my cars Bluetooth. When I answer, the jeweler immediately says " Hello, this is BLANK, from Diamonds Direct. Your Ring is ready to be picked up". I quickly interrupted and said I would call back later but the damage had been done. I told my Fiancé that it was a gift for her birthday but it was obvious the True intention. My frustration comes not from the ring, because she loves it, but because they called me from a number that wasn't listed on their card. They also didn't ask if I was alone and immediately said my ring was ready. I am disheartened because this is a once in a lifetime experience and an aspect of it was tarnished because of this. Diamonds Direct, please come up with a better way of communicating to customers when it is something this sensitive. Can even be something as simple as a code word or emailing rather than calling. Have been there twice to shop. Poor customer service both times. The first time, my fiancé was told to come back without me when he was ready to buy. They didn't seem at all interested in showing us rings or diamonds unless we were ready to purchase on the spot. I couldn't tell you if their diamond prices are as great as they say they are, because they wouldn't discuss them with us unless we were buying that day. Further, they told us that the setting we were looking at was price controlled, and that the price would be the same no matter where we bought it. For that reason, and because of how we were treated, we ended up buying the engagement ring at a local family owned jewelry store, where the owners spent hours with us going over the ins and outs of diamonds and the whole buying process. We decided to give diamonds direct a second chance when we went to look for wedding bands, only because my friends raved about how great their prices were. When we told the sales associate that our wedding wasn't for a year, she immediately lost interest and exited the conversation and told us to come back at another time. Literally. We told her at the beginning of the conversation that we were there to look for men's and women's wedding bands, and she walked away from us before even showing us the men's bands. I had to call her back over as she was walking away and ask her to show us some men's bands. She spent maybe a minute with us, and kept insisting that my fiancé should "look online, figure out what he wants, and come back later." Again, the message we got was: unless you're buying today, stop wasting my time. We will not be back. read more

I have mixed feelings but if I focus solely on the positive, this place is more a winner than not. I took my engagement ring to be resized. It didn't come from here and I honestly had no idea where to take it; a friend recommended Diamonds Direct so off I went. The guy who helped get me size was the coolest. He was friendly, very personable, super accommodating -- just generally great customer service, especially considering I wasn't a previous customer. My ring was ready a day sooner than promised. I stopped in to get it and... it was too small! I was pretty confused because he had sized me and I had no reason to think he didn't size me correctly (after all, it was me who decided on the final size). I was so unnerved that I actually took it to another jeweler for a second opinion. I think I probably need to get used to having a more fitted ring, so I'm going to leave it as is. All this is to say that the sizing tools they used on me felt a lot different than my ring, which I suppose makes sense in hindsight. Just mentioning this for anyone who, like me, has never gone through the process and might find themselves in a similar dilemma. So, overall, that was a very positive experience. The day we picked up my ring we decided to look at wedding bands and that's where things went downhill. First, a guy OFFERED to help us and said he would "be with us in just a minute" We stood around aimlessly for about 10 minutes before a woman approached and asked if we'd been helped. We explained to her why we were waiting but that we'd be willing to talk to anyone at that point. She helped us, which I'll get to in a minute, but during all this, which took about another 15 minutes, the guy who offered to help us initially was still just sitting at a desk -- he never followed up which is perplexing to say the least. It's like he changed his mind about helping us but didn't have the nerve to tell us. As for the woman who did help us, I can't say she was rude but she wasn't exactly friendly. By the time we left, any desire I'd had to give them my business was gone. It just didn't feel right, if that makes any sense. She didn't seem to share in on our excitement, which meant a lot. It could just be a personality difference; she mentioned she'd been there for 20 years so clearly she's doing something right. I guess it just wasn't right for us. All that in mind, I'd still give 3 stars. The guy who helped with the resizing really was their saving grace in my case, otherwise it'd be more like 2 stars. I'd say stop in if you're interested -- and don't be afraid to walk right out if it doesn't feel "like you".
