Local organic fruit costs us high prices at the Oly farmer's market, but with the fruit share we are getting a great deal.

Wonderful place to get out and pick large flavorful blueberries! This is our favorite blueberry…read morefarm! Set nestled in fir trees surrounded by small mountains you find a river flowing past vast fields of sweet blue berries. The farm house, surrounding berry processing buildings, U-pick stands and gift/U-pick pay shop are a delight to the senses. There are many small touches that bring this farm past just getting your berries in a bucket. The buckets themselves are a good size for any adult to carry. I filled mine just over 1/2 full and had five pounds of berries. They also have cut baby buckets for kids to use. The row that are open are well marked with colored tapes and the father you into the rows the larger and more plentiful the berries! Here is a hint, go around 2/3 pm and walk all the way down to the West end of the row, this is where I found bushes heaped with large ripe in the "SHADE"! I could have sat in the grass and filled my bucket with out moving! This is a great place to bring your friends and family. The gift/U-pick pay shop has fresh berries for sale buy the pint/flat, honey, drinks, and other things for sale. There are some cute wooden "put your head through" cut-outs where you can take fun photos. All in all, it's a pleasant drive, in beautiful valley to pick delicious berries, and you can make blueberry pancakes the next morning!

Ok, Let me Start by saying I would have never gone here by myself. The girls decided that this is…read morewhere my buddy and I would be having lunch and that, as they say, was that. When you walk in you may be shocked at the lack of organization. There Is usually just one old hippie, (The owner) working, and he like's to chat! That said, It does take a bit to get a group thru the line. No matter tho, the line is where the fun is. Because of how the menu is setup I'll have to break it down into categories It start's with your "fruitbowl" behind the subway like counter they have a variety of fruits: pineapple, Cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon oranges, grapefruit, blackberries, strawberries, kiwi's, cherries, mangoes, green/red grapes, carrots, celery. You pick what YOU want, CUSTOM STYLE! I should state, This is the juiciest, freshest, most Delicious, fruit i have ever had, Anywhere. I have literally picked a fresh melon and it wasn't as good. I don't know what It is,but leave it to a old hippie to have amazing fruit! I highly recommend the oranges, I usually get those with grapefruit strawberries and cantaloupe. maybe a Kiwi or if they have a special fruit that day. He throws in some Cheese/meat/ crackers free! The Side Depending on which meal you get, or if you want to add a little sumthin sumthin", sides are the way to go for fat kids like me! you can pick from things like: fruit pie (made every morning) trail mix (he again custom makes it with what YOU want) chocolate bananas, frozen fruit/juice cups, and fresh made mango/ strawberry lemonade, and the best Scones you will ever put in your mouth!(covered in strawberries OR pineapple upon request!) The Freebies As if all that wasn't enough, you can have some cottage cheese, yogurt, or a banana FREE! CRAZY Right?!?!?! The four of us have turned this into a Sunday ritual and possibly, for me, 2 or 3 other times this week :-) Need one last reason to go? bring your own container, you get like a doller off! I'm telling you try it once, If nothing else then to keep this healthy alternative around!

I love being able to make my own fruit platter for BBQ;s too. Seems like there is always the same boring fruit trays. The other day I had one made with Blackberries, Blueberries, Kiwi, Strawberries, Apricots, Mangoes & Pineapple. It was a huge hit!

Boistfort Valley Farm operates both summer and winter CSA drop-offs in the Puget Sound region…read moreChehalis to Seattle). So far, I have only used the winter program, but it the pricing is competitive, the produce excellent and the quantities more than generous. With Mosby's changing their business model, I plan to move my summer CSA to Boistfort, as well. What triggered me to post a review today was an issue that I had moving my CSA drop-off. After some technical difficulties and confusing confirmations on the website, I discovered that my drop-off had not been moved at all. Flustered, I spent a Tuesday trying to get a hold of a human being to confirm the change in my schedule. This morning, well after the 11th hour and after I had resigned to forfeiting my box, I received a call from Rachel at the farm, confirming that she would have the driver add a box to my preferred drop site (replete with cheese), and confirming some additional information with me for my future service and any issues that might arise. It has been a long time since I've had a truly reassuring experience with customer service; the digital age seems to have dehumanized everything, and having more options has somehow made everything more difficult. I really am pleased to know that there are decent people growing the food that feeds my family, and hope to make the drive out to see the farm myself next summer.

One thing I like is the whole operation is very straightforward and transparent. The produce is incredible and includes some heirloom varieties that just can't be had at a store
