I recently returned to HFT store in New Braufels to buy some specific tools I needed. I love the…read moreextensive tool selection and fair pricing. I had written a complaint directly to corporate headquarters detailing a specific incident that in my opinion completely exposed the blatant discrimination I was subjected to at this particular store and was amazed at the attention my complaint received. I received a call from the store manager and at that point it became clear to me where the negative culture originated. I scratched that store off my shopping list and vowed to never shop there again. Then came a visit to the exact same store years later and the experience of being helped by one of their associates, Arlene. You will see a second review on this young lady. I wish business had 100 of these young ladies. Her people skills were amazing, she was very knowledgeable, courteous, polite, and knew that store like the back of her hand. She knew where every tool was located and walked you right to it. You can tell when a person loves the job they are doing and that reflected on her demeanor. I asked to speak to the store manager and complimented him and her on complete turn around and positive image the created for this store. It is amazing how one outstanding employee can change a negative experience. I want to commend Harbor Freight Tools for their attention to its' customers and wish them continued success. I returned to that store again two days ago and was impressed by their attention to customers. I want to thank my favorite associate, Arlene, once again. The young man who came and asked me if I needed help finding anything, and finally Amber at checkout. What a pleasant and enjoyable TEAM this store has built. KUDDOS!!!!HFT for an EXCEPTIONAL TEAM....

The generator stumbled the entire time almost stalled repeatedly while trying to drive a ground rod. Went to return and was surprised to find out they have a 20% restocking fee. So I have no generator paid 70$ to return it and the job still isn't done.

An hour later (you get caught up in all the eclectic items they offer). During the hour I checked out cat toys, dog toys, cards (fabulous collection of off beat greeting cards), cat litter, yo yos, dominoes, keys (they cut keys), gardening tools, pocket knives and many other items. You can find a nice weird gift for someone here. And yes, I bought a timer for $6.99. Go there and be reminded of back-in-the-day Scrivener's.

The first time he called, my husband spoke to a guy who said they needed to see the key first to see if they could do it. Fair enough, but they could have looked the key up first on Google or something. My husband forgot to ask how much it would cost IF they could do it, so he called back. A woman took his call and was short with him, as if she didn't want to be bothered. She snapped, "Oh no - we can't do that!" My husband told her he just talked to a man who told him to bring it down. So then she said "Oh, okay. $2 or $3." When he arrived and handed them the key, she took one look at it and "No we can't do that!" She was very abrupt. We would have shopped a bit for other things, we got the clear impression that our business wasn't wanted. For anything. They were not busy at all. I can understand that they couldn't make the key, but a little more kindness and perhaps some initiative to find out exactly what kind of key we needed would have gone a long way. Since they make keys, and are no doubt familiar with modern fob type car keys, a little engagement of the gray matter would have saved everyone a big hassle.
