I have been a customer of Helmut's for many years. They are extremely knowledgable, honest, reasonably priced and reliable. Years ago, BMW Northwest told me that I needed expensive repairs. Steve told me I didn't. Steve was correct. Neither Steve nor his parents (now retired) have ever tried to upsell any repairs and have always advised against anything that was not needed. First time bringing my car to the shop, and last, thought I would try someone local, as I live over 3 1/2 hours away, but I'm temporarily up here helping a relative. Dropped off over three weeks ago to have a/c looked over, oil changed, and window motor replaced. Waited 1 1/2 weeks for a call back with any info, and could not get through, so dropped by in person. Was told it had been looked at and he had been planning to call me. He then suggested two things that had just been replaced less than six months ago, by my regular mechanic, without even actually laying eyes on the parts, who does that??? I gave the go-ahead to the repairs actually needed, and emphasized I would appreciate communication, just a voicemail, going forward, letting me know status. Another week goes by and nothing again, so I call, and get through, and he acted like we hadn't even discussed previously about going forward with the repairs, while all this time, I thought he had been working on the car. I'm getting suspicious at this point, and ask "OK, how long is this going to take now that you have the approval"? His reply was, "when do you need it?" Ummm, a week ago would have been great. Today, I get the call that it is finally ready, but says he, "did the gas flap not open before?" I replied that it opened just fine, if it hadn't opened, I would've asked for it to be repaired when letting him know what else I needed worked on when I dropped it off. He's telling me it does not open now, but it's not due to anything he did. I said, "do you think when you were putting in the door window motor, you might have done something?" Of course he denies culpability. I am taking my car to another shop immediately after picking it up, for a second opinion, and we may just be meeting again in court. read more

I take my out-of-warranty Mercedes here. The prices are good, the work is better, and they are as honest as they come. For most repairs, the car is in by 9 and back by 5. I'm a happy customer. Last time my car was there I was told about a minor problem. As it wasn't an emergency situation, it was suggested we address it the next time the car was in. In the meantime, MB issued a recall for my car. They made the recall repair and noted the same issue that Helmut found. Of course MB wanted many times the price to repair it. Helmut has since made the repair. This place doesn't offer the gloss and chic of a MB facility. There aren't any free lattes. But the prices fit my pocket book oh so nicely. read more

I was recommended this place by a buddy of mine who has lived in Bremerton area for the last 2 years. I decided to give it a try and see for myself of how good these guys were. I called in and Rose told me that they could diagnose my brakes and see if it needed changing. I knew the front breaks were worn down and the rotors had some grinding from the previous owner, so I wanted to see if they would be honest with me.They checked it out and they told me the same thing, that the front brakes and rotors needed changing. From there I knew these guys were honest. Steve, the mechanic who worked on the brakes and rotors, did it quick job and the price was around $400 which was considerably affordable compared to a lot of the businesses I checked around area. Took my wife's 1972 Mercedes 350SL in for a tune and diagnosis March 2020. Agreed to items to be repaired April 2020. Was promised work to be complete. Was told parts were finally ordered July 2020. No updates. December 2020 was told car would be ready for Spring weather. Multiple update requests nothing. Gave up June 2021. Sent request to pick up car without response. Hired attorney to send letter. Was told car would be ready to pick up. Picked up car next day and it died 2 blocks from the garage. Had to be towed home. STAY AWAY!!!! this guy is a complete crook....the bill will make your head spin..with a laundry list of what needs to be done and what actually needs to be done is a major problem....he will price gouge you to no end..would be cheaper if you flew to germany to get the part and installed it yourself compared to what he will charge you...and if course he will make it.sound like his mechanic had to work soooo hard to replace that particular part. you sir are a criminal. read more
