Since moving to New York almost five years ago, I've had other tattoos done by artists around the city but never felt an actual connection with any of them like I have with Red. At first when I met him, I wasn't sure if I wanted to go back to my hometown to get what I wanted done but so glad I went to him. I loved my first piece so much that I went the next day to get another and also another the day after that! I now have 8 beautiful pieces of art (and counting) by him. I think what makes him a great artist is his versatility in what he can do. I don't think there is anything that he couldn't do. I look forward every time I get new ideas so they can be brought to life. Got a pretty shitty tattoo that is just simple script. Then when I went to get it touched up they made me wait over an hour until I finally just left. It needs a lot more than touched up too. And I thought it was on the pricey side too. They were nice enough just overall not a great tattoo. read more

But I had to do this one, walking into this tattoo saloon was one of the worst experiences I've ever encountered and I was literally only in there for a hot minute. The guys here were great. Easy to work with and they have super great prices. $50-$60 min. Couldn't do super small detailed tattoos (2 in. bundle of flowers) and they only have one person there that tattoos fingers but if you're not looking for either of those then that's not a problem! read more

I was a walk in the first time that I went to this shop and saw Vincent. I left very happy with my experience, the price was fair for what I wanted, and Vincent was easy to communicate with. I came back for a second, more involved, piece a few months back and, once again, left happy. He even saw something on my first tattoo - something that I hadn't noticed - that he thought could be better, and he touched it up on the house before I left. I did my due diligence in the area getting my first ink (family crest on back left shoulder see picture posted) and wanted it done perfectly. It's more than a fair price for the area and such an outstanding value for Red's talent/expertise. He has completely outdone my expectations! She didn't try to work with me at all, she just looked at me with a rude blank stare. Nick's awesome! We spend 7 hours together completing 3 roses that stretches from my hip and up my right side. I sat through it in one session, which I do not recommend. I was looking for a walk in and I had called the day before to check and make sure they did so. The man on the phone sounded nice about how they do walk ins so the following day I took some friends in who also wanted small tattoos. Not only when I walked in the building was I given a dirty look by an older man behind the counter, I was also informed all of his artists were gone and he wasn't able to do any tattoos that day (even tho the day before when I called he said they could). This man during the whole time he was talking to us he made no eye contact and watched the tv the whole time. Literally made it feel like he didn't care and wanted nothing to do with us. Stopped in here with a friend who was looking to get text on her rib cage. We walked in and she was getting tattooed within 30 minutes. She got the phrase 'I belong deeply to myself' tattooed on her side and it was $80 total. We were tipsy, but I'd say the whole experience took about an hour. Honestly not really sure how this place has even four stars. If you want a quick cheap tattoo while in NY then I guess this place will do the job. The floors are shaky so you can feel the place move as people walk around the shop which is NOT ideal when someone has a needle in your skin. Everything is clean but not very professional. Went to get a quote for a tattoo and the staff is unfriendly and rude. Didn't even look up from the phone to greet us. Gave me a ridiculous price for a tattoo - a 5-letter word an inch long and said $120. I wouldn't recommend as there as many other places that are friendly and priced better. read more

Ok first of all I don't know how this place gets good reviews. I wish I didn't even have to give any stars. I went in to find out about a neck & back piece. The first thing that I didn't like was that they don't have private rooms. There was someone getting a rib cage piece right in the center of the shop. You had to walk around the table that was only a small amount of room. When the owner who is so nasty & acts like he's the best tattoo artist around walked by the table he almost knocked it over. How do you even conduct business like that. Getting a tattoo like that, you should have privacy. So I spoke to Nick & he seamed nice but he told me to text him BUT he never gets back to you. Been texting him for a month now. Finally gave up. Going some place else. Horrible way to run a business. read more

Went in late one evening for a piercing and walked in on two men. One behind the counter on his phone, and another older man on his phone as well, who did not care to look at us as we walked in. The older man who pierced us (not behind the counter) was very rude and unprofessional, as I guess our late night walk in and disruption from his Giants game was too much to handle. DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE!!! So I came here to get a Labret piercing. The one that goes right under your lip. It was a big mistake. First I was told to clean it with rubbing alcohol with dried it out and made it extremely sore during the healing process. I then learned from another piercer that you should never clean it with alcohol. They once it was finally healed and I put the right size jewelry in, I found out to my horror that it was very off center. So bad I had to take it out and get it re-pierced somewhere else. They're tattoos look great, but they need to stop piercing people if they don't know what they are doing. Not only to mention that the guy who pierced me was very rude when I walked in and acted like I was a burden to his day. read more

escaped into this place to wait for a party around 9pm because my surroundings were shady..ended up getting a piercing!! ill be honest--i was a bit intoxicated, but despite the alcohol, i was still sober enough to be slightly elated by the whole experience--albeit also buzzed enough to make a blundering fool of myself to red, the tattoo lord. red was really cool though. he asked me what kind of piercing id like. and when my drunk brain couldn't understand the question, he blurted out different types of piercings like a foreign language. this confused me more (which is funny because his staff must think im missing a chromosome at this point). chuckling, he showed me the differences before i blurted out that i wanted just a simple ear piercing: a "lobe" piercing, or so i learned last night. DUH? then, i made him relay back and forth to grab not one but two earrings because i didn't get it the first time he asked me if i wanted 1 or 2 piercings (soooo embarrassing) because (i'm not sure why) i assumed each "piercing" would be a pair. the pricing was amazing! $20 for a pair, $10 per piercing. he used a standard piercing gun and the entire thing was literally a pinch. felt more like a stapler was crunched close to my ear. not a bad idea for a clumsy drunken night out, right? at least i didn't walk out with a tramp stamp. but for those who are interested, a small tattoo minimum is $50. i may be back again! i hope they didn't judge me too hard. read more

Red is the primary tattoo artist at this shop. I can't really find the words to describe how good this guy is. Damn amazing. His line work and detail and color and shading are simply the best. I only had two smaller tattoos so I was quite nervous about jumping to a half sleeve, but I came in with a photo I found online and told him it was the idea I had in mind but after looking at all his work, I trusted him to run with it and use his creative talent from start to finish. I could tell he was real good. I split this up into two sessions. When I came in for the outline session, he showed me what he drew up by hand. I was blown away. His koi fish and inner arm work was beautiful. I knew I was in probably the best hands I could possibly be in. Red is a damn cool dude too.
