Before it was shipped, I went to their site and cancelled all orders, but despite receiving an e-mailed confirmation that this was done, the order still arrived. Their billing feels very dishonest and deceitful. I'm extremely dissatisfied and feel like I've been ripped off. My wife and me had both seen ads popping up saying that you would get 16 free meals with a subscription, and thought that sounded interesting and like something worth trying. Well, I created an account there, and it generated a list of 4 meals it was going to ship to us. However, my wife has some food allergies, and we looked through the list and found that we would need to substitute most of the meals they picked out for ones that would be safe for her. You can't even see their menus until you put in a card to pay with, and the moment you put in a card, they bill it for that first box. You're buying food blind, and unless you have no dietary restrictions or allergies (and are willing to eat whatever they provide or suggest) you can be very disappointed with whatever they provide. We found that only maybe a quarter of the meals met her dietary needs. Well, if we could ONLY order those things, then maybe it might be worth it, but there was a problem. Apparently there's a LARGE surcharge for a "gourmet" meal if you make any substitutions in their pre-set menu. Basically substituting any of the pre-selected meals doubles the cost of that meal on your bill. Also, the "16 free meals" basically means discounts equal to the normal cost of 16 meals through their program, spread out over your first 8 deliveries. So, I went to cancel my subscription. However, it says that my charge for the first box has already been made and cannot be cancelled. I hadn't even picked out my menu yet, but they insist on sending that box to me and billing me for food we can't eat. I usually would not give information at this point, but I thought HelloFresh was a legitimate, well known, and trustworthy company. My information is the used to automatically sign you me for a subscription where I did not get to choose my meals, and most importantly, I did not get any email notifications that I would start being billed for this an automated subscription plan. It was not until a delivery company texted me that my meals would arrive the next day, that I was aware an automatic order was placed and charged to my card. I immediately called Hello Fresh, and they would not let me cancel the order or get a refund. They made many excuses about their profess, which I considered deceptive and unethical. So I get email saying it was delivered I look out and nothing (I work from Home) so I went up to leasing office to see if its been left up there, but no it has not been. One thing that has been consistent is that if we have an issue and use the chat feature on their website, we get a great response and are often credited for whatever our concerns have been. Lately I feel like there are less meals that we would choose from-I eat gluten free and more and more meals are heavy on the gluten. This is my first Yelp review ever. Please do yourselves a favor and do not subscribe to this company! They are so unprofessional. Their delivery service is absolutely the worst- the drivers will just throw your box anywhere in the property even if you have explicit directions to bring to your apartment door. They left my box out in the summer at extreme temperatures and also put it inside a mailbox locker despite a paper with building instructions stating that it is against building policies. They made me change delivery every day of the week with the promise that the delivery would be more reliable. I recently sent me two boxes without proper ice and proper insulation. My wife ordered 3 meals per week to make cooking for her easier. It is expensive and for the most part good. There were several times when the shipment was damaged and we got credit. The real problem was when we received our last order there was a lot of blood in the box. I don't know where it came from because all the packages were sealed tight. The paper bags were soaked and there was about 6 oz of blood in the bottom. We have been calling for 2 weeks now and can't get anyone in the United States to respond. All I get is the call center in the Philippines and was told we would get a call back in 24 hours which never happened.
