I got my first box yesterday and was skeptical of the whole thing, not because of bad reviews, it just sounded too good to be true. It turns out that I was both right and wrong. Read my bullet pints and you'll see what I mean.
First the good:
The food was good, at least the one meal that I cooked and ate at random. It was easy to prepare though the vegetables could have been a little fresher. It's convenient, order a dish that you like from a large menu, something like 47 meals to choose from, I took 8. They are easy to prepare and even without much experience cooking I believe that anyone can turn their meals into a good and proper meal.
Now the bad:
I put my account on hold immediately after I got my 1st box so that I could try it, see if it was any good, and go from there. I logged in and placed an order for the next week. Here's where things get sketchy, I went all the way to checkout, clicked the approved button and at the the point where the next box was all set for delivery and checkout was complete there was no screen telling me how much I was spending. I looked all over the place and couldn't find anything. Then I went to the FAQs and found one mention with some instructions, unfortunately the instructions took me to a place where the next step wasn't available. I decided to contact customer service, went with the chat option, and got an automated system, a bot. After griping and complaining for awhile I was handed off to an agent, more on who he was later. The agent was very evasive, he kept referring to past orders when I had clearly stated that I wanted to see what I was spending before I checked out. His answers kept up along this track never actually answering my 1 question and always going back to past orders. He pulled out the sad emoji, seriously, like an emoji tearing up is going to make me forget about what I had originally asked. He costumed along these lines and ventured into "I'll get my supervisor and she can tell you what you need" and "don't go, we will have a solution to your problem in your email", like I'm going to go through this every week just to find out how much I'd just spent.
So you cannot get your order finished without being completely in the dark about how much it costs. You cannot speak to a real human as the "agent" was another bot, the machine hands it off to another machine. Great model guys. The only way that you can find out how much you've just spent is by waiting until it posts to your account and at that point you cannot cancel it or get a refund. It's a catch 22. read more
