Unethical business! My father passed away and I needed a service to help during this time. I opened up HelloFresh and was surprised they force you to pick a delivery date, then your credit card before showing you the food options. Not thinking I did. Looked at all the food and they do not have options for celiac/gluten free. I immediately stopped the order process, I never clicked confirm my order, removed my credit card and clicked the cancel my subscription. I received a email 1 min later confirmed they had canceled the subscription. 1 week later they charged my card for food I could not eat. I called and was told there was nothing they could do. The food arrived and that is when they changed the cancelation date from 7/18 to 7/28 on my account. That is highly unethical on so many different levels. I loved Hello Fresh for the first 12 boxes I got. Then they switched carriers to something called Fareye Connect and they are suddenly unable to get the box from the truck to my door. If you live in the Cleveland area I would hesitate to use this service, as they told me this is the only carrier they use in my area. I'm giving them one more chance to deliver my box next week before I cancel the service. Customer service has been very disappointing, saying it's "out of their hands". They have refunds for the boxes I didn't get but they are completely unmotivated to investigate or resolve this issue for me. Terrible! read more

I was a Hello Fresh customer last year and after seeing no real variety in their meals I canceled. I got a promotion in the mail and went on line to see if any more meal variety was available. I'm now a vegetarian. I went on line and it MAKES YOU sign in. Once I signed in and saw I didn't find their meal options something I'd enjoy, I logged out and made sure the account stayed canceled. A box showed up today and I was surprised. Not only by the shipment but all the meat. I called 2x assuming it was a simple fix but NO. Both agents told me that by logging in, even just looking, it immediately reactivated my account and shipped, EVEN THOUGH within 10 minutes I deactivated my account again. Hello Fresh is horrible. Their food options, their customer service, their devious sales antics are deblorable. I now have to go to Amex to have this charged removed! ABSOLUTELY A SCAM. I received a "free" box from a friend and ordered the food. I was charged for shipping and received the food on a Thursday. That same Thursday I was already charged for my next shipment due to arrive on Monday. NOWHERE on the site did I see confirmation that I was now subscribed to a weekly plan and NOWHERE did it ask me to select food for subsequent weeks. I had not even tried the food from the "free" shipment and was already charged for a box I did not order. I called customer support asking for a cancellation of subscription AND a credit for this unauthorized charge without any luck. Customer Support told me they could not credit my account. Avoid at all costs, unless you enjoy paying for a product then not receiving it. My first box was delivered to an unknown address. Instead of them applying the 50% off on the first box on my next order, they tell me that all they can do is give me a credit for the future after the current offer has expired. Fast forward to box # 6 and guess what? Also missing. My deliveries are due on Mondays. I get an email stating that this week's delivery would be delayed due to the holiday and that it would arrive on Tuesday Jan. 3. Well, the box did not arrive and when I try to get a refund, some customer service representative in Columbia (the country) tells me that they cannot process a refund. I'm stuck waiting for the box even though they cannot tell me if and when it will arrive. Hands down, worst customer service experience. Sad really because the meals were good. I have the chat transcript to prove the nonsense. Update - On Wednesday Jan. 4, at 5:08 p.m., I get a text message that my delivery has finally arrived. This is SUCH A RIPOFF. The recipes aren't bad but it's a crapshoot if you'll get your box or not, and if you don't, the agents are never able to help find it. Then you'll be out the meals you planned for. On top of this, if you don't buy their maximum package, you're charged, with shipping, about $17/meal. I would not give even 1 star. This company hides information as to how much you are going to be charged. When they mess up they give you credit but you can't use that credit until your free boxes or promotional period is done which I have never reached because I cancel before that. So they steal your money. Customer service is a nightmare. One of the many reasons I have now canceled my account twice. They say it is canceled yet they still keep trying to charge you. They send marketing material nonstop making it seem like you got something for free to open it up and find out no they want you to do work for them by sending information to your friends and family to sign up. They should be paying their customers for doing their work for them. Like I stated at the beginning they hide the amount you are going to pay every week. They make you try to figure out what your box is costing, because sometimes you add extras on, what the shipping is, what your promotional amount is instead of just giving you the grand total. I am trying a different service and so far their customer support has been amazing, I can see exactly what I will be billed for the week. I haven't even received a shipment yet and am so much happier. Crossing my fingers. It is meal delivery kits to make life simpler and HelloFresh is all about jerking around their customers and just trying to make a buck. Also the customer service is outsourced to a different country. Both people I spoke to with HomeChef were here in the USA and their first language was English. Makes things so much simpler.
