WARNING do not use this company. Hellas Air Temp Inc came to service a heater for my parents who are 89 and 90 years old and who do not stand up for themselves very well. Hellas got the heater working but said a burner needed to be replaced for reliability. The systems was working at this point. Hellas came to replace the burner and broke it. Then they said more parts needed to be replaced. They kept on doing this until they completely broke the working heating system. They left these two elderly people without heat for two weeks. Then they claimed they could not fix it and charged $1689 for a system that they broke. Upon calling them they refused to drop the charges and instead have been charging finance charges. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. read more

Hellas misrepresented what they could do since they do not service the equipment at my house. They brought the wrong filters and wanted to charge me again for coming back. So, I paid them a very substantial sum, and now have to call a new HVAC company that actually services my equipment. Not good. read more

I've used Hellas Air Temp a few times in the past years. They've serviced my gas boiler. Most recently John came out due to my not having any heat. I was really worried as my furnace is up there in age. I was very impressed by his abilities! He changed a part that was in a very tight spot. He made it look easy! He was timely and very efficient. Was sincerely shocked to see negative reviews. We've been using Hellas for over 30 years for our home and businesses without a single complaint. Perhaps a bad experience is more likely to trigger a review, than a positive one. In any event, I felt the need to share my experience. Very expensive and refuse to adjust for technician service errors. On two separate calls to bleed the Navien combi unit and check the antifreeze level, each technician blew out two separate circulator pumps. It costs me nearly $1000 due to their mistake. They will also push you to add totally unnecessary equipment to your system. You can easily do better. read more

I have used Hellas Air 3 times in the past 10 months to address issues with my multi-zone AC/Heat Pump system installed by different vendor. From front office to techs, Hellas Air staff were extremely knowledgeable, highly skilled, thorough and customer friendly. They immediately identified and resolved issues my previous vendor caused but could not repair. All zones are in great shape now at very fair and reasonable pricing. I would have saved myself a lot of money and distress had I called Hellas Air sooner. read more

I called the company and within 24 hours they came by to figure out what was wrong with everything but after getting paid $150 and saying they were gonna find the part / call whe found they never called back. I had to call them to see what the plan was, they told me they would be out the following morning first thing. Once again I called them that morning and they told me they couldn't find the part. This is not a reliable service and we got another company to come out with the part / fix everything within 5 hours. We will not be recommending this company due to them taking money and never helping get my heat back on / terrible service from follow ups to promises not being kept. read more

Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. It's taken me some time to write this review, but I'm here now. Family owned business not for the better. Serviced my AC wall unit incorrectly. Flooded it with freon, charged an insane amount per pound, and then found out they flooded it when the next company came to fix their mistakes. Freon was expensive too!!! Also, one visited the technician ran out of material needed, had to come back another day and they charged me for that second days visit. They seem money hungry based on their actions. If you have John come to your house you'll do good. He knows what he is doing. The problem is that I've had others who have come to the house who I would call incompetent at best. I have a heat pump (not recommended for this area!) and for three seasons had exorbitant electric bills due to their inability to solve a problem. My electric should typically be $250-$300 in the dead of winter. Inability to solve problem the first time resulted in me having to pay considerably more in electric bill which of course I was stuck paying. I now have a disputed invoice for several visits because a new system shorted out. I was told by one person @ Hellas I did not have to pay the bill and it would be removed. I got billed the following month and they said I had to pay it. Customer service is horrible. I am in the process of getting another company. Hellas has cost me thousands in increased utility bills. read more

My AC went out. Called Hellas. They charged me 150 for diagnostics to tell me the motherboard was fried. I spoke to a supervisor who assured me the technician's diagnosis was precise. Quoted me $600 to change it. I called thermocare who did it for 450. After a week with no AC, and the night before Thermocare came over, my handy man was over for something else. He turned on the AC and it worked great. No control board issue. The system had shut down due to a dirty filter and needed to be reset. He flipped a switch and pushed a button and...cold air. Thermocare came over to change the motherboard the next morning. They ran a diagnostics and said, everything is perfect. They saw the dirty filter sitting to the side and came to the same conclusion as my handy man. I had to pay the 450 at this point. Shame on you Hellas. Dishonest fraudsters. So I paid 600 for nothing. read more

We have been using Hellas for 5 years and each year they take care of us. In 2009 I got a quote from another company, I called Hellas for a second opinion. They came and gave me their honest opinion and a very fair price. I decided to go with they company because they seem very knowledgable. They install well seamlessly and their work was nothing less of professional. Each year we participate in their maintenance program and our system still runs as great at the day it was installed. I spent over #200 hundred for an emergency call during a call snap and got nothing! They couldn't fix my furnace. I spent the next 3 days in the cold with no heat. Then they charged me an emergency fee to come out again after several days with no heat! When they were her 3 weeks earlier and said everything was OK. What a racket! What a scam! Dishonest. Had to take them to small claims and they blatantly lied to the judge in court to help their case. I have the proof in writing from the manufacturer that they lied. $8000+ and 10 months later no heat and no resolution. And for the record, as long as you keep writing them checks to pay for their visits, they'll be there with bells on. Just hope you don't have a reoccurring problem that you refuse to pay for over and over again. That's when the you see what this company is really like. Stay clear plus most of the other HVAC companies are cheaper. read more

I scheduled an HVAC service two weeks ago and the technician did not show up in the allotted time frame they gave me. I rescheduled the service and the customer service person told me they would call me to give me an update on his timing. I did not receive such call and the service person showed up one hour later than my allotted time frame. I had to leave the house and could not receive the person. If Hellas prides themselves on customer service, they failed to show it in my two appointments with them. If you plan to use them, don't expect them to show up when they are supposed to and give yourself a few extra hours. I will be switching service providers immediately. read more

NIGHTMARE IN NORWALK Working with Hellas feels like a horror movie except you never wake up from the nightmare. Horrible communication. Lack of followup. incompetent techs especially with high tech tankless combo hot water / boiler systems. THE NIGHTMARE BEGINS Bought a house with a high tech tankless combo hot water and boiler from Navien. Had an issue with the circulator pump and called Hellas to fix it. Asked them to go ahead and do the routine maintenance as well when the came. The tech showed up did the routine maintenance in about an hour and billed me around $340 for it. Never fixed the circulator pump that initiated the call because the tech didn't come with the appropriate parts. This is an easy fix and yet they botched the job because they came on site knowing they had a problem with a circulator pump with not having a spare pump with them in case they had to replace it. THE NIGHTMARE CONTINUES Shortly after, I had a "valve failure" in the Navien. I place this in quote since that is what the tech diagnosed. It resulted in getting heat from the Navien but no hot water. Hellas determined they had to order the part from Navien. I discussed with the tech that the unit was recently installed and still under warranty. They said they would get back to us and ask Navien to cover under warranty but would go ahead and order the part. Well no communication. I called the office and their gal Friday "i use the term pejoratively because she is incompetent) said that she would order the part. Meanwhile, it's been a week without hot water. She calls back and said that the part was now ordered and gave me a quote of around $400 for parts and labor. Never asked Navien to cover under warranty. When I asked the "gal Friday" about the warranty, she said she would call Navien about it. Needless to say, Navien very quickly agreed that they would cover the cost of the repair. DESCENT INTO THE INFERNO Two techs show up to fix the valve. At the end of multiple hours, they have replaced the valve but screwed up the Navien unit. It now no longer functions and is leaking on the floor. End of day, the guys are leaving and they plan on having Dimitri the owner and their Navien tech schedule an appointment with us. (Why not send the Navien tech in the first place). They are leaving with the water turned off. So not only do we not have hot water, we now have no water at all. I quickly stop them and the tech said, but it's only the heating system. The idiot didn't even know that he was working on a combo unit. The valve being replaced switched between hot water and heating system. In any case, once he realizes that this is actually important to us, he tried to get Dimitri to come that day. Since that failed, Dimitri and the Navien tech are supposed to come the next morning at 8 am. ENTERING PURGATORY The next day, no one shows. Eventually I call the office and Gal Friday tells me that she will try and schedule Dimitri and the Navien tech to come over sometime. Essentially calls me a liar when I tell her the tech said they were coming in the morning. Her response, the tech doesn't know what's on the schedule so he wouldn't have made a commitment. She's now checking with Dimitri if he can come. She'll call right back to let me know. Hours later, there is still no contact. ESCAPE INTO PARADISE I have realized that this will never turn out well. I now choose to pay out of pocket for competent assistance. I called up another company and they will be here late afternoon. I have escaped Hellas and entered Paradise. read more

Called to have someone come out to give us an estimate, and they scheduled a 2 hour window for someone to come. On the day they were supposed to come, noone showed up. I called them to find out if someone was coming, and they had no record of my appointment, and noone could come out that day.
