The staff are always super pleasant and offer help whenever you need it. If you are looking for something specific, you can always ask and they will help you find it, and in some cases if they don't have a product, they say they are ordering it and that it will be in later. The grocery items they offer lean more towards Eastern Asia. They have lots of different kinds of Asian snacks and canned goods, dried noodles, and sauces. A large selection of frozen goods, two refrigerator units with vegetables and different Asian ingredients (they have kimchi!), tofu and herbs. And a bunch of sodas and bottled teas.

if you're an expat from the US or UK in stavanger, ultra has a few things you might miss from your…read moregrocery store at home. as soon as you walk into the supermarket, the first aisle on your right is stocked with a variety of canned soups, heintz ketchup, the infamous blue box of mac n cheese, as well as other non-perishables. apart from the import aisle, there's a great selection in the more norwegian grocery selections. fresh produce, fish & meat dish and a pretty good selection of fresh organic breads. the other grocery aisles carry a better variety of foods than the average obs or other large low-priced supermarkets. so far, i think ultra and the helgø markets are on the top of my grocery store lists in stavanger.

The one in Oslo is rather big, lots of interesting vendors, and a relatively good selection of food stuffs. This one is over-hyped, over-priced and boring. Not worth your time visiting. The out-door market in Stavanger at the church is great, a variety of food stuffs, and cheap.
