I have been going to Helen's nails for years. From my very first time there till now have I ever walked out of there unsatisfied. Jackie has been doing my nails since everything opened up after covid, she is amazing. I get so many compliments on my nails after she's had a go at them. With the exception of the newer nails techs, I have had all of them do my mani and pedi at least once. I have screwed up my nails more than once and always get it fixed no problem. They are courteous, friendly and it truly is a family environment. read more

I've never gotten my nails done at home before due to my school cafeteria job. I would always get them done on vacation, but my mom decided to treat me right before vacation as a treat for housesitting. I decided to go to this one since it was closest to home, but I ended up making the best choice. Who knew the salon that was voted best in the city SIX YEARS IN A ROW would be only a 5 minute drive (minimum) away from my house!?! The staff were super friendly. The salon's environment and vibe was enjoyable and relaxing. What I found really cool was a deluxe spa treatment included a scoop of ice cream, which was something I have NEVER seen before in the salons I've been to in the past! Talk about spoiling yourself! What was also really cool was there were two smaller pedicure chairs for children, which was also something I've never seen before at the salons I've been to in the past. The couch to sit on while waiting for your turn or whatever is so super comfortable you practically sink into it. I can't praise this place enough. If I ever happen to get my nails done at home again (fat chance of that though due to my kitchen job) I'll definitely be coming back here again, and not just because it's the closest. Sophia is awesome! Ive been seeing her for almost a year and every time I come in with a fun Inspo picture she gets it done! This last time I decided it was time that I take off my current set and get new ones put on. With my previous experiences with acrylic elsewhere, I was thinking I would have to get them taken off and wait a few weeks for my nails to get stronger before putting them on again but I didn't have to. When she took them off it was a much gentler process than what I have had done in the past and my natural nail was still in tact and healthy underneath! read more

I've actually been going here for my nail needs since 2013, and I haven't been disappointed. The color selection is great, and they're usually up on trend, so if you've seen it online, you can probably get it done here. I've gone through three different nail techs here, only because they kept leaving but now Paul does my nails & I'm always pleased with the results. Every one here is nice, and pretty sociable so if there's something you don't like about your nails or toes, be an adult and politely tell them, I guarantee you they'll fix it. read more

It upsets me to leave this review, but I don't feel I have much choice. I was a customer of Helen's nails since 2014, and though I moved across town in 2016, I continued to return knowing that they always do the best job. On top of the quality work, the "family-like" atmosphere always kept me going back. Unfortunately all of this changed as of January 2021. I received a gift certificate (from my mom) for Christmas in the amount of $50. Sadly in the excitement of opening presents, the gift certificate went out with the wrapping paper trash. When I discovered this a few days after the trash was picked up, I remember my mom saying "oh I bet they will still honor it; they know who you are, they wrote your name on it, logged it in a record book, and I still have the receipt!" I was certain she was right. It's not like it's my first time at Helen's, they know me! They even advised my mom as to the type of manicure I typically get so that she could purchase the gift certificate for the correct amount. Well sadly we were wrong. I explained the situation and even brought in the receipt. But they did not care. They said "it's just like Target, you can't just report it as lost and get your money back." Wow- here I am supporting a small business in a time that is ROUGH ON ALL OF US, and they're comparing themselves to a major corporation! $50 was more important to Helen's Nails than a loyal client's plea. On top of that, I will note that my most recent gel manicure was not up to par. Their attention to detail and quality of work has gone downhill, and my nails started chipping within days after service. I thought maybe it was a fluke, but my friends' nails (who I convinced to go with me) started chipping days later too. She went back to get hers redone after spending $85 the first time around, and here were are two days later and they have chipped again. I will no longer be returning to Helen's Nails, as their integrity and quality of work prove they don't value nor care to keep regular clients. read more

Went in for a gel manicure. The edges were sloppy and the polish wasn't taken all the way to the ends of my nails. I didn't notice the mistakes till I went to the Safeway down the street and some nails were already lifting. I immediately went back and asked for it to be fixed. The lady was nice enough, but her "solution" was to file my nail edges down to meet the edges of where the polish had stopped it should have been taken off and redone completely. Terrible work and from what Ive seen on the other photo reviews, this is pretty common. It's unacceptable that a nail tech believed this level of work was okay. It's honestly laughable. The polish looks awful! I had to point this out to her after she had finished and she huffed about it before making me slide across the salon in my street shoes (I couldn't put my shoes on fully). She used a brush and acetone to try and clean it up, but it was so poorly done that the brush didn't make much of a difference. I asked the woman at the front desk if I could receive a discount for the poorly done pedi. She said I could get my nails redone, but at this point I couldn't stay any longer. They should have offered for me to come back or something else to make up for this. They've lost me as a customer and once I told my friend she was so embarrassed that she recommended this place to me. They've lost her regular business as well. read more

I've been coming to Helens for a couple years now. Every time I've come I'm seated right away. The longest I've ever waited was 10 minutes. They've always done a good job on my nails. I always pay the same price for my manicures unlike other salons where the nail just comes up with a figure out of thin air. I learned through conversation that the owner was inspired by her mother, who owned several nail salons, to venture into the same business. Gwen, the owner/nail tech, is just trying to live out her nail salon dream. She gave me a lot of great advice on how to prolong the health of my newly-polished paws, including some caveats on what NOT to do. The facility was clean and relaxing, and I am not even exaggerating when I write that my pedicure lasted for a solid four weeks. I even brought in a few skeptical friends in need of some foot love including a gentleman. My gentleman friend, unlike most men, continues to visit Gwen's' shop twice monthly he loves the place and has persuaded a couple of his male co-workers to go as well. I'm writing this review due to a recent review I read on Yelp that indicated that Helen Nails were using and I quote "This place uses TOXIC MMA acrylics, which are BANNED by the FDA and ILLEGAL in the U.S", which floored me. The review I felt did an injustice to Helen Nails. I called back to my friends in Colorado Springs to inquire about the services they received and requested that they read the same review; they too were surprise about the contents of the article and had not experienced any problems as a matter of interest they both are ecstatic with the services and are now regulars. Wanted me to pay $25 for a manicure where the lady did not do a full manicure she literally washed my hands and painted my nails. She gave me $10 off. 12 hours later the Polish is peeling off. I called and Helen wants me to payback the $10 to have it fixed, not happening. What a poor business decision on her part. I'm a very loyal customer until you are flat wrong. The staff are nice people, and the salon is beautiful, which is why I gave it two stars. My nail tech was very aggressive in his service. He scrubbed my leg until it burned so badly that I had to pull away. He dug at my cuticles, which were almost non-existent in the first place. He said, "Oh, you need it gentle", and I acquiesced because he's a really nice man. But the burn when he applied the alcohol was really significant, and took a long time to subside. I got a pedicure, and as far as the quality of the job goes, it was awesome! 5 stars. The customer service, however, wasn't very good. My friend and I were together and they did my friend's entire pedicure first, and then started on me, which has never happened before. Usually, they will do some of one person's pedicure, then start on the other, and go back and forth. Since they didn't do that, I waited nearly forty minutes from the time I got there until she started on me. They also got my friend's design wrong, which she was pretty angry about. As I said before though, the actual pedicure was great. But the employees brought it down two stars. They knew how to do their job, but not how to interact with their customers. Called ahead to make sure I could get in promptly. Usually my pedis are about an hour- and I needed to be sure id be out in time for kid pick up. I was seated immediately upon arriving, bonus! Classic pedi is $30, I upgraded to deluxe at $43. Friendly technician but was shocked - 25 mins and done. I upgraded bc I usually enjoy the extra pampering and usually better foot massage--that's why we get pedis, right? Massage was brief during the mud mask but really was surprised at the lack of a real upgrade. I do like the feel of the salon but for that price, and not really an upgrade I'll stick to my usual salons or if I do return I'll stick to a classic pedi without much of an expectation of anything more than a foot rinse, trim and paint. However unless I'm in a big rush, I want to sit and really enjoy a nice pedi. I don't live on this side of town but I might as well--always on this end for kids sport practices, so I really wanted to find a place on this side where I can enjoy a little pampering while waiting for practice to end. He did do a nice job on painting, etc. Not a single complaint about technician himself. Friendly, and did a professional job. Just seems to me their pedi packages are skimpy, not in price but in service. On the bright side, clean, friendly, prompt and professional. Not sure whether I'll return for a pedi. read more

Terrible customer service and juvenile polish job. I originally went in requesting a mani and pedi, but left with only a pedi. I asked the nail tech if she could do a design for me and her response was, "Only if it is something easy." Since she couldn't do a cheetah print, and didn't have the necessary colors in their gross collection of ancient polishes, I asked for a basic French tip, but shortly found out she couldn't even do that nicely. The white lines are uneven, inconsistent, and she didn't even use a pink base. I'm giving two stars because she did a decent job on my pedicure, however, the polish job and customer service were bad enough to keep me from ever wanting to go back. read more

Since the first day I started going to this nail salon I loved it. The nail techs I've had have always been friendly. Except for today; Helen (the owner) worked on my nails and her customer service skills are lacking A LOT. I have been going to this salon for a while and always always come out feeling just like a girl should when getting there nails done! I have two stylists I like who I know will take care of me and always try and get of them before their schedules fill up! They know me and so I feel great when they have a great idea for my nails a push me to try something new. This place uses TOXIC MMA acrylics, which are BANNED by the FDA and ILLEGAL in the U.S. I went to a different salon to get them removed, and she was horrified. The tell-tale sign, she said, was when they come off gummy. Normally, if someone is using CHEAP, ILLEGAL MMA acrylics they're $20 a set, but I paid $55 for mine. RIP OFF and TOXIC. No, thank you. She said the length she gave me is what looks best for my nail bed, and I'd still be able to type. Not so. Plus, I don't know if it's normal, but she used a drill on my cuticle bed, and it HURT. Maybe I'm just sensitive. Also, she had me put my nails in a little machine to make them dry fast, and it STUNG SO BAD when I first put in my hand. She said that was normal. I asked my new nail tech, and she said no. So, instead of going back, I went to a salon that is certified by CND. They removed my acrylics (thank God), let me know about the MMA deal, and will be able to re-do my shellac in 2 weeks while keeping my nails healthy.
