(My previous review was removed for addressing some non-restaurant-specific things - that's fair enough. I'll stick to the food). In short: undercooked onion rings, an overcooked burger, and no distinguishing characteristics to elevate it even to the level of the basic chain restaurants in town. I went to Heinz Burger soon after they opened, and ordered a hamburger with a side of onion rings. The price was in line with similar places in town, like Barrie Burger or South St, and while the staff seemed a bit hesitant, I chalked it up to them being new to the job. Heinz Burger offers a fairly standard variety of toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, a few sauces. It's about on par with the burger dressing options at Harvey's, and a couple of steps below the selections available at a premium burger place like Five Guys. The burger itself was sub-par. It was overcooked, and was a uniform grey colour on the inside with a mealy texture. The bun tasted like a standard store-bought kaiser, and the onion rings were thickly battered and undercooked, resulting in a doughy interior. The portions were very generous, but half of my onion rings and a big chunk of my burger ended up in the garbage. The $10 I spent on my meal wasn't worth arguing over a refund for, but I won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone when Barrie has such a glut of burger places already. read more

Hadn't heard anything about this place, but the prices seemed reasonable. Decided to order a burger combo. They had all the normal toppings you'd expect to be offered, and what I asked for seemed fresh and well portioned. The burger itself tasted good; I do enjoy a thicker patty, but thats a personal preference. The fries were very good, and came in a larger portion than I had expected. The fries remind me of the style you'd get from a fry truck, but in a good way. Overall I am very satisfied with the food I received, and I intend on visiting again. read more

I swear I am the great grand daughter to Wimpy from Popeye and let me tell you I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a great hamburg. I went into Heinz' burgers expecting to be underwhelmed thinking this is just going to be just another run of the mill burger joint. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The food is made fresh for you while you wait and the Onion Rings and homemade Fries are just to die for. I have returned several times and have always been met with nothing but kindness and politeness by both the staff and Owners, Jack & Renee! My friends and I tried Heinze Burgers yesterday. We were impressed with the girl at the cash, who greeted us with a big smile. Good thing she did, because the guy that was doing the cooking sure didn't crack a smile, even when we commented on it, still no smile. Decided to try this place out après Ski with the family. We understood that new ownership had taken over, and that they served quality food (As of Dec 2016). Low and behold, just a short detour off the 400 (off at Dunlop, it's located on Anne St, then back on at Essa), we were very impressed with the quality, speed and service. My wife and I ordered the Burger Combo's (I had cheddar and Bacon), the son had hotdog & onion rings, and daughter had chicken finger and fries. I have to say, overall, it did not disappoint. Coming from Toronto, one always rates burger joints as a comparison of the two-longstanding best; Burger Shack and Golden Star (yes, I know that there are some newcomers in Toronto, but those are the best longstanding ones), I would say that Heinz would be the equivalent in both quality and service. The burgers were char-broiled, with fresh soft buns, the topping choice was plentiful and fresh. The fries were fresh cut and reminiscent of the type of fries you get at the chip truck on the way to the cottage. The onion rings were hand-battered, and one of the best I've had (my son had to keep slapping my hand away from stealing his). The chicken fingers were juicy and fresh. Very tasty overall. They also have milkshakes... excellent tasting. Looking forward to returning, and my French-Canadian wife is eagerly awaiting the highly-recommended poutine. The service was very friendly and accommodating (we had young kids who kept changing their minds on what they wanted), and the speed to get the food was very quick. The general manager heard this was our first time, so came over to ensure that we were satisfied and everything was to our liking. Great service. This may become a regular stop après ski. Contrary to this site Heinz Burger is still open for business. I dropped in this evening and got the Bacon burger and fries with the works on it. The staff was super friendly, the burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were great! I'm a big fan of five guys but this place tops them. Support local businesses and try them out, you won't be sorry. read more
