Our first dinner in Munich couldn't have been better. The restaurant was just a 3-5 minute walk from our hotel, which made it the obvious choice on a freezing 27°F night. We didn't have a reservation, so we waited about 10-15 minutes while the place buzzed with people. We ordered right away: veal schnitzel burger, pork schnitzel, and Munich schnitzel -- all in meal size, plus a side of potato salad and a glass of beer. The potato salad was surprisingly light and refreshing, served cold with a nice crunch from the shallots and cucumber. The Munich schnitzel was my favorite: thin, crispy breading, not greasy at all, and the mustard flavor paired perfectly with the pork. Overall, a perfect welcome meal to kick off our Munich stay. Prices were reasonable by European standards, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. read more

We visited Munich in December. To help shrugs off the cold weather ordered coffee. To eat we ordered a snack sized Munich schnitzel with fries. The schnitzel was wonderful! Prices were just as high as the rest of the area. read more

I was in Munich for a scientific meeting and was in the historical district after dark and wanted a reasonably priced traditional meal and I found this nice chain of restaurants with outdoor seating and an ability to modify what I ate and the portion sizes. Solid selection and fairly priced and really delicious. Had a Weiner schnitzel and a side of spatzle and a large beer and even a comped dessert and everything was yummy. Way too much food and very well priced. Highly recommended!! read more

When I tasted my wild berry mojito, I knew it was off. My traveling companion agreed. I summoned the waiter over to explain that this mojito had no fruit flavor and no sugar, and asked instead for a rum and Coke. First, he suggested that I needed to stir the cocktail - in other words, that it had not come ready to drink! I did it anyway, told him it was still not sweet, and he absconded. Then the manager came upstairs with my original mojito and the rum and Coke. He offered me a choice: allow him to add more sugar to the mojito, or pay for the unsatisfactory mojito AND the rum and Coke. He argued that the drink was properly made while repeatedly pointing to the undissolved (!) sugar crystals in my original drink. Why not offer to add more sugar before making a rum and Coke? I don't know. I opted for option 1 and he took away the other drink, presumably to pour it down the drain. Heimwerk provided a baffling experience on my last night in Munich. Came after a long train ride from Frankfurt. Waitstaff helped us quickly with drinks and seemed annoyed when we mentioned we might only get the drinks as we looked through the menu. We did end up ordering fries and a snack sized wienerschnitzel kalb. I've had much better before so we didn't get more after that. We wanted another round of drinks but the waitstaff never really came back around to take the next drink order. The kids were falling asleep at the table so we just paid over the QR code on the table and left. read more

Great place to get delicious schnitzel and beer! Located within walking distance of city center, but still nicely far enough from the crowds, so it's a relaxing atmosphere. The menu is full of different flavors and variations of schnitzel. From burger form, to traditional, to chicken, or even veal. They have a snack size and meal size options as well. I ordered the lemon ginger chicken schnitzel in the larger meal size. This means it comes with 2 large schnitzel pieces. No side is included, so that needs to be ordered separately, which I did order potato salad. The schnitzel was very tender and had great flavor. Although I couldn't strongly taste the lemon or ginger, they gave me a lime to squeeze on top that gave the acidity I hoped for. The breading was nicely crispy and flavorful as well. I really enjoyed the potato salad. It wasn't too overwhelming in vinegar flavor and had red onion and chives mixed throughout. Our waitress was nice and attentive to us, giving us space to enjoy our meal but checking in when our beer glasses got low. Biggest negative is it is pretty expensive. 15 euros for just the schnitzel with no side, where many other restaurants include a side in the meal cost. read more

This review is actually for the HeimWerk at 15 Tal in Munich but I can't find that location on yelp. (I figure that since it's a chain, the food served should be the same.). We wanted to have German food and sit outside to enjoy the atmosphere of old town Munich. Had the pretzel with obatza a delicious dip. It was a great starter with beer, of course. For the main, we had pork schnitzel and spatzle. They were both delicious! Servers were friendly and helpful with the ordering and there was plenty of seats available outside. read more

Great find! I made it a point to try all the different types of schnitzel they offered, and each one was cooked to perfection; crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. While the schnitzels were excellent, the true star of the meal was the German caramel pancake. It was warm, fluffy, and topped with just the right amount of caramel to make it indulgent without being overly sweet. The combination of traditional flavors and cozy ambiance made this a meal to remember. I'd absolutely recommend HeimWerk for anyone craving authentic German comfort food with a twist! TRY TO STAY AWAY! We came to this place not realizing it was a chain restaurant. We started out with drinks and a pretzel. We then ordered 2 entrees. 1 entree came out before the pretzel so when we asked about our pretzel she said it's made fresh that's why it's taking so long. About 20 minutes later we asked about the second entree and she acted confused and asked if we hadn't gotten it. Then she realized she hadn't put the order in. To top it off the food we did get wasn't even good. So unless you want to have a bad experience and ruin your day don't go here. read more

If you like schnitzel, you're in for a treat! I had two "snacks" - one Munich style and the other covered with cereal. They were each very flavorful, though very different, and cooked to perfection. The portion was very generous, and I couldn't finish both. I also had french fries -- and the friendly proprietor took my request for the fries to be extra crispy in stride (yes, yes... such an American thing to ask, I know...). If schnitzel is your drug of choice you are in the right place. The portions may be the smallest I've seen in MUC but the price is aligned with the size and the taste is super worthy of every cent. There were six of us and we were all English speakers, and despite how easily we could have been scammed by the staff our server (whose name we unfortunately didn't get) was honest, transparent, and fast. We felt welcomed and all agreed that we got we paid for in terms of quality of food and speed. I definitely recommend this restaurant for any type of occasion, whether it be a group outing or one or two people. The layout is that of a modern bar and the food is German served in a Spanish tapas style. If I return to Munich I will come back to this establishment, hands down! read more
