They try to sell you on being flexible with scheduling and work/life balance, then won't pay you for having work hours outside of set schedule even with advance notice. I kindly suggest seeking work under a different service provider to reduce issues.

Any staff member in error refuses to take any personal responsibility for their own errors, and instead blames you for any of their own stupidity. CEO is petty and vindictive, if she doesn't get her way or if you don't "obey" her foolish demands. This business is family-run, so they all cover for each other, if there's any wrong doing on their part. If you value integrity, professionalism, and your own well being-- then go elsewhere. Avoid this clown-show disguised as a home care agency.

My mom, who is not, cares for him and needed assistance with tasks of daily living. This aide was constantly on her phone, and refused to do any lifting because she had had a c-section (Why they would send her in the first place is beyond me). Though my dad needs help getting up, and lifting him is occasionally necessary, my mom said nothing. But once this home aide got comfortable and saw my mom was not going to challenge her she became more brazen and rude. After my parents had lunch together, the home aide screamed at my mom for leaving dishes in the sink, saying she was not going to clean up after her. While it's true she is not responsible for my mom's one dish, that is no way to speak to her or anyone you work for. When I called the company to complain, the people who worked there were just as rude as the home aide, especially Stephanie, who is supposedly a care coordinator. Apart from many more episodes like this, just getting anyone to answer the phone at Preferred is a feat. In the case of an emergency, like when the home aide was screaming at my mom and would not leave, I waited for 20 minutes on the line. Once you hit 20 minutes on hold they hang up on you! If you must use Preferred, DO NOT work with the home aide named Frangy. She is clearly unhinged.

I called a couple of home care agencies but they were expensive and was not sure what we were getting for $25 to $27 an hour. When i looked online there were many different ways to go and I was a bit overwhelmed. So I went on Yelp which i periodically due for restaurants and such. I was surprised that LeanOnWe jumped at me. The reviews were strong and they were varied. At first I didn't realize that they were any different than the home care agencies. Then i realized that they weren't an agency but just a way for me to connect with someone that my uncle would end up hiring. Very clever. Since my uncle would be hiring the caregivers, it was meaningfully less expensive but would give us everything we were looking for. So I called up and told LeanOnWe what my uncle was dealing with, where he lives, and what he was looking for. They sent bios of 5 people who fit the bill, my uncle and i spoke to two of them on the phone and decided to hire one of them. It worked out great. What a creative way for us to manage this process. We would have been stuck otherwise. So far the woman we chose has been working for about three weeks and all is working well. The caregiver constantly manipulates the family against each other in order to get his way. Every time I try to replace him the agency interferes and ignores my requests even though I am the one hired them and I am the one who pays the caregiver who I dislike immensely. I should not have to be a situation where I am forced to keep a caregiver that I dislike. They don't return my phone calls and they ignore my requests to get a different caregiver. Instead of working with me to replace this caregiver who has created an extremely toxic environment, the agency will go behind my back and reach out to another family member who has very little to do with the caregiving, is easily manipulated and it results in arguments about replacing the caregiver. I don't want a caregiver who is only in it for the money and who does not have patients wellbeing in mind. I constantly have to step in and make sure the patient is being cared for. I should be allowed to replace a caregiver that I have no trust in. The caregiver should not be in charge and the agency should not be in charge. Thay have made a difficult situation even more difficult by pitting family members against each other. I dislike them immensely. Be careful
