Be prepared to stumble over TORN carpet into a dark room with NO light switches ! 2 sets or towels for a 4 person suite??!! What?! Place had a power outage when we checked in in Sept 2023 and had to wait an extra hour and 15 minutes... without any apology or anything from front desk!! and no internet and weird things going on with elevator! Btw- here we are 2.5 he after piwer outage and still no internet! How am I to work?!! How do I explain this to my manager?! Forget about using the WiFi! There really is no WiFi and front desk will yell at you that internet is working if you call and ask for internet password! Tells me there is no internet password! Btw look in bath tub and look in sink and look in towel rack.... Why should there be HAIR THERE?!! Yuck! Hair on the towel rack! And shall we talk about the a/c ???! Ac is set by the unit at the window and does NOT cool room despite being set at 60! Nothing about this room is up to date! There are barely any plugs ! Not enough room to plug in 2 cell phones and 2 laptops! Well I guess we could unplug the A/c and use that plug to charge laptop! Btw it's 99 degrees outside in autumn in Texas Hull Country! No one unplugs A/C! Don't bother calling front desk- they will lie to you and they don't care that you don't have internet or TV reception or A/C ! Staff is very rude and incompetent- takes 45 minutes to CB rack in! I will never stay here again and will certainly avoid all Bear Western places in the future! I would have done better staying in my vehicle in Walmart parking lot! Don't stay at the Best Western on Cunningham Rd in Killeen Texas 76542 ! It's a rotten place! WARNING do not stay here!! Well I do like this cute bit of art work!

You can check in at 3 PM with no surcharge. I am a rewards member and never had an issue checking in early. It should not matter if I am a rewards member or not. Got my room keys then went to my room after checking in there was a mist in the air, a maid shows up an said this room was out of service. Needless to say back to the front desk, where we were assigned another room, I requested to have the manager come speak to me about the early check-in procedure. Needless to say the manager never showed up and eventually I found out he was never informed. You must request service for you room at the front desk hopefully they write it down, came back at 4 PM and the room was not cleaned at around 6 PM the manager showed up and apologized for the screw ups of his front desk staff. We shall see how this goes the rest of our stay here. We are staying 8 days and only half way thru the stay. Breakfast was not great mediocre at best, if you like watery egg hits and grits you are in like Flynn. Just not a large selection of choices for breakfast. Checked out with no issue, Manager did me a solid and did not share me a pet fee for my stay so I can assume it was because of the mess up with the room cleaning. Liked the place and conveniently located for the base and many options for eating.

The animals are so well taken care of and loved. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience, and we are so glad to have stayed there. Special shout out to Allen the Chef who made some of the most delicious meals I have had and Anne and Jackie who were so knowledgeable about otters and kangaroos. We also loved Dundee (their baby kangaroo.)

The place was clean and just the right size for my wife and I. Being city folks you forget how dark it is out in the country at nights. It was nice. We signed up for these adventures to make the weekend even more fun: 1. Feed baby kangaroo(Bodhi). This was about a 30 minute session where we got to feed him a bottle and kibble. It really was an amazing experience. 2. Bucket of food and self guided feeding of animals. We walked the property and hid to feed so many animals. All of the animals were friendly toward people. They were all very good motivated. We encountered a giraffe, donkeys, zebras, horses, cows, pigs, dwarf steers, camels, emu, deer, buffalo and more. The animals were often trying to bully their way to the front of the line. The cow Oreo who has not skipped a meal was always front of the line. 3. Afternoon safari ride in ATV. This was a fun ride around the property. Did not see any new animals but had a great time. The cows out at pasture were thrilled to be fed. 4. Giraffe encounter and meal. This was a little expensive but I would spend it again. The giraffes were super friendly and personable. We wanted to take them home because they were so much fun. The guide, experience and never felt rushed made this worth it. Our guide was top notch. I think her name was Jackie but could be wrong.
