Do not book here unless you're ok with rat poop everywhere, as in on your silverware, plates and in…read morethe "breakfast" they leave in a mini fridge. The explanation from the owner was, "when it rains the rats come inside." That aside, the mattresses and bedding are horribly old and uncomfortable. How one of the reviews for this place(which is from four years ago) could possibly say that the bedding is lush and comfortable is INSANE. The a/c was also not on when we arrived so it took well over an hour for the cottage to become comfortable. I was also very afraid to use the jacuzzi tub as it was dirty with yes, more rat poop but the nozzles also looked dirty and who knows how old that tub really is so a bath was forgone. They don't send a confirmation email of your booking even though I was told twice I would receive one and beware of substantial additional charges that are not disclosed up front. Our stay ended up costing over $100 more than expected because of those extra fees. The cost of staying here is an absolute joke for the accommodations which are dirty and highly uncomfortable. Another guest who stayed when we did reported a similar experience. I don't know how they are staying in business because anyone that has the experience we did will certainly never come back and I hope that the people who read this find any other housing option, this place is not worth your money. I'm sure it was a beautiful location when it was built but the lack of attention to landscape and upkeep are obvious. It is grown up with lots of vines and brush, some even rub on the sides of your vehicle. The food that was left was quite tasty. Once inside the cabin, it had a rustic vibe without an updated feel. The 13 inch tv and spotty internet was a disappointment. It was clean, but very overpriced.

I stayed one night at the Regency Inn in Gatesville, Texas…read more This motel was previously called Regency Inn Mobile Motels. I confirmed this with the desk staff, he said they changed the name when it came under new ownership. My first impression from the street was that it reminded me a lot of old motels, even a little like the Bates motel due to its dated look, side of the road layout and exterior decor. I was hesitant and skeptical when I pulled in and parked. Many of the old Motel 6 locations looked similar. The price I would consider very reasonable, especially for what you will actual get here. Due to the layout, the rooms are more like suites next to each other. You can park directly in front of your room which is a big bonus. All of the rooms are single story so no messing with stairs or elevators or luggage carts. That puts the Regency Inn in Gatesville, Texas on the top of my list for ease of access and entry. I like having my car near my room. Entering the room I saw the same amenities that all of the motels and hotels have, a TV, King Sized Bed, some drawers for clothing, a mini refrigerator, sink, private shower and toilet. It also had a decent sized table with chair to work at, a sofa chair, microwave and coffee maker. THE GOOD: This is the cleanest smelling room I have ever come across. It smelled fresh, not stale. In fact its the only motel or hotel I have stayed in that hasn't smelled stale. That's really impressive. The air conditioner worked brilliantly, not to cold, the air not pointed directly onto the bed, the quality of air coming from it was fresh. The over all decor is nice, its not as glamourous looking as some of the motels and hotels I have stayed at. But it's quiet, private, secure, and the air is fresh. Those are always the most important features. Walking distance to McDonald's, Taco Bell and 711. THE BAD: No backup door jam lock. The free internet kept dropping and was pretty slow compared to modern expectations for motels and hotels. I had to use my mobile phone wifi hotspot to upload this review. You will need to bring a USB to AC Power plug, since the rooms do not have USB Power Sockets at the time of this review. Black Locusts or Crickets! I moved the sofa chair and found two dead black locusts of crickets. They were to small and shaped wrong to be grasshoppers. Later into the evening I went in to use the restroom, and looked down at the tile on the restroom floor and there was another black locust or cricket wiggling. Obviously, they had been poisoned because there isn't any reason for them to be dead or dying. While I don't like finding bugs of any kind in a motel or hotel room, I used to get crickets frequently and I prefer a dead one to a live noisy one. Final Thoughts: Bring your own coffee or tea, there was only one coffee bag in the room. Bring your own hair conditioner, there was only a unscented generic shampoo, but it lathered up well. I'll keep this motel on my list to revisit if I come through Gatesville, Texas area again.

To all those planning on going on a pre-cana retreat or as they call it' "Together in God's love"…read moreretreat. This is the advice I give you. $350 is what you will likely spend if you have no idea how to work the system because they will work you over. If you're like my fiancé and I you want to work the system in your favor along with your wallet. If you think sleeping at this retreat for $350 means you will be sleeping on comfortable beds and dine on good food, throw that idea right out the door. The beds are hard, it's like you're sleeping on a box spring. The food they claim is good but a frat boy can make better food. So to avoid this and have a happy retreat, First, call the Austin Arch Diocese and tell them "I want to commute to the retreat." they'll try to sell you on the idea of sleeping in separate rooms on hard beds as a good way to get to know each other. You will be sharing a room with a total stranger, and you will have no idea what type of person he or she might be or what their sleeping habits are, be prepared for a night of hell. Now the linen is disgusting, the top sheet and the blankets are clean and but the fitted sheet have been left on from who knows how many retreats prior they are dirty and nasty, my fiancé found old toe nails in his bed which is gross, plus shows that they do not change the sheets. So repeat to them. "No I rather commute for $200." Then you now have skipped out on the horrible sleeping condition and saved yourself $150 to spend on gas and or food or a retreat with your fiancé so you can forget this retreat. As a chef I pride myself on knowing food cost along with knowing what's good. The food was cheap and preprocessed. I'm not looking for a Chef Ramsey or a Bobby Flae, I'm just looking for good food. Instead this food was egg substitute of some nature, fruit chopped, bread pre toasted and no butter, and jams and one jelly oh and horrible tasting sausage links that don't look or taste fully cooked. So bring either something from home or eat at home and come back right before the classes start. For lunch they are many places in Belton which is near the retreat location. There are several very good Mexican restaurants that serve great food but charge you an additional 50 cents for extra basket of chips. A Chinese restaurant that taste amazing, or you could go with the standby of finding Whataburger or Sonic or Taco bell. These are much better options in the long run compared to what you will likely be eating at this retreat. Or you could bring a subway sandwich for lunch so you can avoid they're lunch time meal of sandwich and salads. When they say bring snacks bring two items a drink and or some type of ate able item. Don't bring a lot because people won't eat a lot of it and they will try to take extra drinks back home. One disappointed married couple that has decided to educate the masses and save you some money. Here the number (512) 476-4888 so you can call and ask about who do I need to speak with about the retreat and how to be put on the commute. They will tell you they like to fill up the rooms first as well, again state you don't want to sleep there.
