The young lady working the front --Janai--was so helpful and kind. An amazing asset to their organization. We discovered Alexander's has the best bread pudding that my friend and I had ever had. The clawed tub is very charming that will whisk you away back in time. You'll definitely get a great night's sleep on the bed because it is very comfortable. The sheets are made of unmatched quality are fit for a king and queen. We liked the sheets so much we actually bought a set for our king sized bed at home. We've had the pleasure of meeting Jason, Katie, and Neil the owner and they've made us feel like family while here. When you stay here you definitely have to check out the Shed restaurant and Alexander's. The food at the Shed is exceptional we did the sampler plate, burgers, and cheese curds. They were great. You'll also want to eat at Alexander's on the property at the Inn as the food is phenomenal. We did the beef tenderloin and it was cooked to perfection along with the crab cakes and autumn bread pudding! If you're not staying at the Inn on the Creek you're missing out. Breakfast in the morning was stellar as well the atmosphere and people have been great. We definitely tip our hats off to all of the staff we've seen, and those working behind the scenes. You're taste buds will thank you once you eat at The Shed and Alexander's as their food is to die for! If you've haven't booked a stay here you will be disappointed if you go anywhere else. It was around 9 PM who does this?! Talk about going above and beyond she really did it!! We slept well and rocked on front porch the next morning listened to the birds, morning breakfast was absolutely fantastic - there were four of us and everything was just beautiful and delicious -- the entire property is amazing and very comfortable we stayed inside the main house on our first visit to the Rose Mansion which was only last Thursday and we loved it so much we stayed again last night - this time we stayed in the Garrison cabin and it was so quaint and peaceful Kay is the best host and can tell you many interesting facts about the property nevertheless the beds were comfortable the accommodations were wonderful The feel of the property is very peaceful and relaxing and the town of Salado is absolutely charming! The gal who delivered our breakfast was so sweet but the breakfast could be better. Even just investing in some nice trays and actual plates vs foam would make it so much more special. It's like someone tried to slap lipstick on a goat and call it a getaway. Everything felt sorta clean... like "good enough if no one looks too close" clean. The house was barely ready, and don't get me started on the random weeds and junk out back. Then there was a full-on wedding using the amenities, and the Tubbs didn't warn us at all. Add in some snippy parking attendant and... PeeeeYew the whole visit stunk And the hosts? At first they apologized for screwing up... then ghosted like moody teenagers when I followed up. Total lack of effort, zero pride, and no clue how to run a proper guest stay. My money is on all their stars are... Incentivized, but that's just what I think; who knows? I've stayed in barns with more hospitality. Literally.

We live locally and this allowed us to achieve our goal even with the extreme schedule we have with kids at home and my wife in school. My husband and I were part of the kitchen/meal crew and stayed in the Gathering House. The kitchen was quite well-stocked and the extra fridge around the corner + extra storage space was much needed. We did have to bring some of our own equipment but we were thoroughly prepared to do so because Gathering Oaks provided all the information about what was available at the retreat center ahead of time. The sound proofing isn't the greatest in the main house for those staying in the ground floor rooms, but that didn't really end up mattering too much since I'm a pretty deep sleeper. Those who wake up more easily from loud noises may not have as easy a time staying in one of the bedrooms in the Gathering House. The facilities are all very well kept and the kids had a great time with the outdoor activities and the fire pit at night. Would definitely consider Gathering Oaks in the future for smaller retreats (about 40-60 people max).

However, on the listing it mentions there are no hidden fees. This is the first place with a hot tub that had it replaced with a cold tub. As it turns out, they want an add-on cost of $100.00 to turn the heat on the hot tub. I am sure there is an excuse, but it is probably ridiculous since this is not an industry standard.
