Excellent customer service both over the phone and in store. Was missing parts for my ergo chair and the nice gentleman on the phone helped me out with seeing if they had the parts in stock (they did) and came on down and the wonderfully nice lady helped me out with the parts and doubled check to make sure it was the correct pieces. Struck a nice conversation as she seemed very knowledgeable and passionate about her job. I got my parts and was out in a jiffy. 10/10 I will be returning for more hardware needs. read more

Meehh. Thats my first response. I come in about once a month and its the same old thing. They help you out when and if they feel like it. Unless your a certified hardware expert like they are with 100 years of experience your not in their league. So when you walk in asking for help, you better know what your talking about. That is if anyone is around to help you. Cause your going to barked at, talked down to and snubbed. Store is clean and well organized and they carry a lot of hardware for old homes. Buy there is hope and you don't have to drive 10p miles. Cedar Center Hardware is on Warrensville Center road and they'll treat you right. Close second would be Dunn Hardware. Further out by Richmond Mall. Dunn is well organized and for the most part staff is very helpful. They both have more inventory than Heights too. Don't torture yourself. read more

I never thought I'd have much to say one way or another about a hardware store, but I love this place! It's a little neigborhood store, but has everything you need. I go here often for paint/painting supplies, regular household needs like light bulbs and extension cords, and...okay, I'll admit it: there is a very sweet and mellow older dog that wanders around the store most of the time named Bella that I am especially fond of. Luckily this is my local hardware store! Home Depot ain't got nothin on Ace. I mean sure, they don't have EVERYTHING that Home Depot has. But they sure as hell come close. I mean seriously, I rarely need to go elsewhere when it comes to home fixes. ALSO the owner is usually there and between him and the other employees you will be sure to get tons of help. They ALWAYS ask. Also they know what they are talking about. They have answers for everything. Great vibe, super friendly, very efficient. I stopped in ACE Hardware on a Saturday whilst killing time waiting for MOCA to open. I have been carrying around a travel mug lid in my purse missing an O-ring for weeks. I lost the original months ago & never bothered to see about replacing it. There was a older gentleman who quickly took me and my lid to the O-ring section of the store. We deduced the two options that might work and settled on a 79 cent option. It worked, it fit, I paid, and left. I love that there are still old-fashioned Hardware stores where they actually have people who know what you need and have it in stock. read more

Location: for anyone who lives near Coventry road this is pretty much a no brainer. I'm really glad to have a hardware store within walking distance. This makes for super easy trips to get things like planting soil, nails, or picture hanging supplies. Staff: always friendly. Always helpful! Today one guy opened a product in the store after I told him I'd buy it just to show me how it works. I was really thankful for this because I was not fully aware of how to use it. Thanks for that!! Selection: has your basic items. It is a small store,however, so you can't expect them to carry everything. Some tools, some hardware, those 2-to-3 prong electrical outlet adapters that everyone needs, de-icer, and gardening equipment are just a few of the things I have looked at while I was here. Prices: everything has been pretty fair I'd say. I don't pay too much attention to prices at this type of store because what's most important in this case is how close it is. If you're the type of person who complains over 50 cents then you're probably going to order it online and you're wiling to wait for it to be shipped. read more

If you are working in the performing arts and came to this town to look for ideas for a scene, let's say, for a certain movie, where this guy for example inherits a house from his old aunt he has never met in this weird city far away, but it's something he got so he will drive there to inspect it, see what to do with it. He arrives at the house and it is one of these housies you know, like you get them on Hampshire, covered in lead paint, dog poop around, porch sinking in, basement a dungeon, anyways, so he says to himself, well, what can I do, let's fix the thing and sell it and never come here anymore after that. So he goes up to High Street, the street is drizzling with students, dog walkers and a few schizophrenics, that wait that the library up the hill opens, where they hang out during the day. There are cafes on the street, some boutiques, a Chinese, no, let's make it a Jewish laundry, anyways, and then there is the little hardware store. The man goes in, greets the guy behind the counter and explains the tools he needs. From then on things go weird, weirder and the weirdest. Stephen King can do it very well, that is why he is rich and famous. If you happen to be a script writer like that, and you too want to become rich and famous, this shop is gold. (If you just want to buy materials to build or repair something, this shop is not so ideal, no stars, not even one, because they are rude, highly aggressive, threatening and they do not have a good selection, that is if you know your shit in the business. Do not reason with them. Leave fast and backwards, and go to Home Depot.) But for the movie/theatre script writer, really a treasure. Five Stars. So it depends who you are and what you are looking for, which makes an average of 3 stars. Once again: Cleveland, where the love dies. read more

This is a great hardware store, something like what I imagine most were in the old days before big box hardware stores overwhelmed the market with giant lower prices and little customer service. The fact is, such places are a giant time suck, whereas here, the friendly helpful staff always know exactly what you need for any project and where it is located. I needed some hardware and they were very helpful in helping me friend the best and least expensive way to get broken items fixed.

I purchased a few screws and bolts for a project to help my brother while I was in town for a few days. I had to tell the guy three times that I need a bolt that threads into metal, but he insisted the wood bolt is what I wanted. Other than that he was fairly nice, just a not-so-friendly know-it-all, but at least I finally got what I wanted, or so I thought... One of the other screw bins I took two screws from had the wrong size, which I didn't notice until two days later. By that time it was too late to get the project done, so I went back to return all that I bought. First I was greeted with a dirty look since I had a bag in my hand (guess they're not to keen on returns). But I thought maybe I misjudged so I explained what happened. His response was a long SIIIIIGH! He said he's not supposed to take returns for those products as he pointed to the sign, but he would do it "just this one time." I responded saying the store should really take most of the responsibility because the screw was in the wrong bin. I guess they really must stick together because his colleague came to his defense and said "he said he was going to take it back!" To which I responded "forget it!," And I grabbed the screws and receipt and stormed out. His colleague again chimed in "are you kidding me?" If the refund would have been much more than $3 it would have been worth swallowing my pride and accepting their very kind and generous offer. I thought I would give their Ace store a try since it was close to where I was at the time. But those people need to learn that Home Depot and the like have major advantages, and they should be a bit more flexible with their return policy, not to mention take a few courses on customer service. They are a dying breed and thIs place is certainly not doing much to prevent that. Not to mention that those screws were completely unused and Home Depot would have taken them back even if they were mangled., And with a smile (usually). My humble advice: Wake up or continue validating that you really have no value compared to the big guys. read more

Guy who "helped" me was rude. I mentioned how yelp offers a 10% off coupon and he immediately and rudely rejected it. Then he acted like they have never offered that. Not a friendly individual at all. Seems like he hate his job and it shows. I tried to be polite at the end and said "thanks!" And he responded with a blank state. These guys are fantastic. I went in for a new hose for a toilet and one of the guys noticed, after I had purchased the item, that, due to a new vendor for the item, the length had changed, and it probably wouldn't work for us. So he got us the next size up and didn't charge us. Another man took the time to ask what our project was and suggested the correct brackets and screws. Once again Heights Hardware took care of my needs in 2 minutes. I called them to see if they had what I was looking for and 10 minutes later I drove there and my merchandise was sitting by the front door at the cash register. I love this store.
