This is perhaps the worst doctor I have ever seen. This is a doctor that focuses on "wellness" -- if you actually have health problems and need real medical care, this is not the place to go. She is looking to do the bare minimum at all times. I guess everyone wants to be paid to do nothing, and she is no different. At best, she is a "weight watchers coach" and she doesn't even have the interpersonal skills to do that. She has no idea how the healthcare system actually works and I'm guessing that's because she has never actually provided healthcare.
I couldn't agree more with Keith U. I also couldn't get a referral out of the PAMF system. I had a catastrophic life altering incident and needed to be closer to family and she was not capable of providing a referral. I had to have 3 seperate appointments just to get the referral and then her office didn't even make one correctly. The receiving office never got the referral. She also was not capable of even providing referrals to Stanford for an issue that was *urgent* and time-sensitive. I went back and forth with here multiple times to get the Stanford referral and she was unable to do it. I never got into Stanford. I was in tears. She herself treats absolutely nothing, so everything has to be a referral with her...and she is incapable of referring outside of PAMF. She has no idea how referrals work, and doesn't even know that you need to send recent medical notes and a rationale for the referral, i.e. you have to actually write something to facilitate care.
Honestly, my experience with this woman has been awful. At a time when I just had a catastrophic life-altering injury, she had me in tears. Not an ounce of empathy or caring. At that time, I needed my general practicioner to "have my back" and orchestrate care -- and she did nothing, was extraordinarily cold and purposely made it difficult for me to receive the proper care and referrals I needed and in the urgent timely manner in which I needed them.
And I not only had problems getting healthcare for serious issues, I also had problems for minor things as well. At one point, I had constipation from medications I was taking and instead of writing a script or providing guidance on what I should get OTC at the pharmacy -- she told me I needed to go to the emergency room. It was absolutely ridiculous. I called another doctor and his nurse gave some advice and sent a script (in case the OTC didn't work) and 3 days later, my bowels were moving just fine. So from very serious health issues to even minor issues -- Dr. Schmidt was incapable of providing any actual health care.
In sum, my entire experience with her was a nightmare. read more
