Prior to the shoot I received emails outlining everything I needed to know (tanning , shaving , stretches , hydration , outfit ideas , inspiration , etc etc). We also set up a FaceTime so we could connect "face to face" prior to the shoot which calmed a lot of my nerves. The day of the shoot I had a blast. Josh is nothing but professional but also will make your experience fun and empowering. At first I was skeptical about shooting with a male but an interesting take is he was able to offer a point of view and obtain images maybe a female would not. When it came time for my reveal I was blown away. He took the time to put together a slide show with music. And went through each image with me one by one. Two of the images (my boyfriend and I) selected I would have never chosen at first glance. It was his male point of view that was able to capture images my partner was blown away by. Handled the suboptimal conditions (mud everywhere, glaring sun, high winds that knocked things down) at the venue with ease and grace. They took our preferences into account- we got the types of photos that were important to us (and more!) and they were in the style we hoped for- natural, did not look heavily edited (and if they were you'd never know it!). I found this photographer and asked her a couple of questions about the beaches we would shoot on since I'm not local. She was very unresponsive and seemed to be offended I asked her questions about the seaweed in her beach photos. Again little to no response. After a week I asked "Are we on?". Finally she responded with I should find another photographer since the beach she shoots on is "not what I want". What?....I never said I didn't like the location, I just asked some questions about what beaches she shot at and emailed her that I was fine with whatever was the prettiest beach. Her pictures on her website are not even that good to be honest, she's definitely a novice, but I figured for a quick mini shoot it would be okay.
