Hello, my name is Chris and I am a danceaholic. More specifically, am addicted to classes at…read moreDecidedly Jazz Danceworks. I signed up for an introduction to Bollywood class in the spring on a whim, and found myself looking forward to each session as the highlight of my week. I enjoyed it so much that this term I signed up for more classes and am dancing there four days a week. I feel terrific and energized, and I am having SO MUCH FUN. The teachers that I've had have been great- patient, good at explaning things, enthusiastic, and great dancers and choreographers. The classes I've taken have been low pressure and unintimidating, geared towards adult hobby dancers, rather than professionals. And even so, I've been learning a ton and the teachers are really experts. The school offers lots of different classes with an emphasis on jazz and jazz-inspired classes, including funk, hip hop, breaking, and house. But they also offer other classes like ballet, tap, and capoeira. The intro classes are truly intro classes for people with no experience in that style of dance, or with no dance experience at all. And the non-intro classes come in a range of skill levels for people who already know what they're doing. I find the classes to be very reasonably priced, the studios are large and in good condition, and all of the staff is great. I'll take off .00001 of a star because I think "Decidedly Jazz" has got to be one of the worst names for a dance school I've ever heard :) But it still rounds up to five stars because this place is tops!

A great atmosphere for all ages and backgrounds! We are very happy to be part of this studio.read more

I am beyond grateful for all the guidance and opportunities I've received at Hattori Williamson!

They are the most dedicated, caring, supportive, understanding and encouraging teachers in my history of training. They have expected the highest of standard from me and upheld me to this level on a daily basis. The teachers have individualistic expectations for each student, varying on the personal level, needs and growth of the student. The staff has high expectations for us as a class and will accept nothing else but the absolute best from each individual. Not only has the staff pushed me on an artistic level but as well as on a personal level. The teachers are always there to assist me with any personal issues I may be having, even if it unrelated to the ballet studio. I see them not only as my teacher but also as my mentors, guiding me through my journey. These teaches have been my biggest assets for the past two years and have had such an incredible influence on me. They have taught me about work ethic, self motivation, expectations and self-improvement. They have never put any limits on any student and see the potential in each and every individual. The environment created is very friendly, and low stress where all students from all classes interact positively with one another. The class sizes are very small ranging from about three to ten individuals per a class. The staff puts their best foot forward daily and expects the same from us as their students. I couldn't be any happier with my experience at the H/W School of Ballet and recommend this ballet school for dancers of all ages and levels.

I took my daughter the the Royal Oak Premier Dance location. Some (not all) of the staff are…read moreextremely rude, and this location definitely encompasses the stereotypical nasty dance culture that I thought only existed on reality shows. The owner of the studio is unfriendly, and the culture stems from her. The email communications... all I can say is... wow!! Extremely rude, inconsiderate, nasty... I don't know who writes those emails, but they definitely need a lesson in how to communicate effectively and respectfully. I won't be bringing my daughter back here... I'll take my business elsewhere.

I found this studio an awful, unprofessional place. They will never see me again!…read moreThe owner is as rude as it gets, she ignores the junior students as if they are not satisfying or exceptional enough, and only approaches the senior dancers. There is no equality nor fairness in her attitude. My lyrical teacher always ate large amounts of unhealthy foods(chocolate, candy, cookies)that usually left crumbs on the floor(and we had to dance on it).The first half of the class she obnoxiously talked about herself and what she did on the weekend, after we would begin the class-that usually involved the same simple exercise because she was "tired" or "nothing came to her head".In jazz the instructor felt that it was appropriate to swear and make rude comments at the students, we didn't get much done there either. The only class that has taught me a lot was ballet "Ms.Black" she was professional, and made useful corrections. However in every class you registered there was an obligation to do recital(performance at the end of the years)or if you chose not to do it, there was nothing for you to do in class after Christmas, but that's not the worst part-You must sign up and pay for the whole year, not just until winter break or after. I suggest you save your time(and money)and please avoid this somewhat the call a "dance studio" because trust me , it won't do you any good!
