Bought an electric car and needed a 50A 240V circuit ran to the garage to install an EVSE to charge the car. Haven't needed much electrical work in the past so didn't have one on speed dial. Heckman was well reviewed on Yelp so I contacted him. He came by the same day and spent over 30 minutes scoping out the situation, even going into the attic and making sure he could put a plan together. His estimate seemed reasonable based on what I had heard it would cost. He arrived on time the morning of the job, did the work, cleaned up, and was out of there. Invoice came through right on budget. He also was willing to communicate with the solar installer I was going to use to make sure the main panel was prepared for the solar installation. He was easy to contact via text which I appreciate because some contractors can be tough to communicate with. He and his staff were professional, friendly, and did an amazing job installing a complicated outdoor and indoor lighting setup at my home. They basically rewired my entire house with chandelier, recess lighting, installed extra outlets, track lighting, etc, etc. It all was very reasonably priced compared to some other electricians in town (I won't name names, but you might already know! ;). We've hired Paul for several different jobs on our 1923 house. The first time he came out, he ran 40 amp wire from the panel to our new electric oven. We also had him do the electrical for our bathroom addition (which was inspected and permitted by the city), which included tapping into the panel. We had him install recessed lighting in our living room and have called him for multiple smaller jobs. Every time we've used Paul, he has done excellent work. Our home's electrical system is old and a little funky, and he has been great about figuring out how to solve every issue that we've had come up. I had Paul come and give an estimate for the installation of a NEMA 14-50 outlet for an EV charger. His prices were reasonable and he was able to think of different solutions that would allow the charger to work with the existing breaker box. He came the next day and quickly ran the wiring and installed the outlet. He was also able to order and replace an older style breaker that was not working correctly. After he was done, I had him run some wiring for the installation of a sconce in my hallway. He was extremely professional and he was very efficient. You really have to wonder about the validity of the invariably glowing reviews of this business when you attempt to make contact and it goes like this: I left a detailed phone message, heard no response for five days, called back and heard "This is Paul," (hardly professional), identified myself and asked if he received my message, got the implausible excuse that he had "phone troubles" and some voice mails were erased and maybe mine was one of them. And furthermore, he was just so busy with everything he had "going on" that he couldn't possibly "help me out" for weeks. So "good luck to ya" was all he had to offer. And that was it.
