Decided to make the hour long drive through Houston to see Pia, and I'm very glad I did. The piece turned out exactly as I wanted it, and she's very cool and accommodating. The shop itself is SO nice, by far the nicest tattoo studio I've been to thus far. They offer free snacks and beverages while you wait, or if you need a break in the tattoo process. Everyone I spoke to was very sweet, and the other customers seemed to love their experience as well. Adrian Wilder, was recommended to me by a close friend. After looking through his Instagram, I emailed him to schedule an appointment. His assistant was very prompt in her responses and was able to schedule me in within 3 weeks. This shop was about an hour drive for me but totally worth it. The shop was not only super clean and pleasant, but the other artists there were very friendly while i was getting my tattoo. I can't recommend Adrian enough. After hearing plenty of recommendations about Red Dagger, I decided to get a pretty big piece done on my arm. The tattoo shop felt welcoming, comfortable, and the quirky/weird decor (you'll know what I mean when you get there) made me feel like I was in someone's living room, which is awesome. I got an incredible piece done by Ringo Leone, who does some sweet traditional work. He was easy-going, drew up an idea that I had some inspiration for (in no time), and worked extremely efficiently. I gave him total freedom over colors & parts of the design, and he managed to make it EXACTLY how I envisioned it - bold, contrasty, and traditional. One thing I love about this shop is that each artist there has a little different style to meet anyone's tattoo genre/ideas. From traditional, realism, etc, there's a little bit of everything. I kinda laughed when I saw one of the bottom reviews and one that is hidden. Everyone I met or saw was extremely friendly. In the real world when not getting a flash tattoo you wait and you pay more. Period. I am so pleased that a dude from Nutrition Depot sent me to Red Dagger. Shop is clean and very spacious. Cool and collective taxidermy, which I collect myself. Met several of the other artist and saw their work first hand. Amazing. I recommend this shop and everyone in it. Great group of dude's that worked their butts off to get where they are today. I love this place. I had gotten my first tattoo done by Abel Sanchez, and he was absolutely amazing. Very professional, and upfront. As well as completely relaxed. I had felt so comfortable with him, it felt like I was just hanging out with a friend. Anyways, the quality of his work is amazing. He's definitely worth any trip, or price. Red Dagger will be my go-to tattoo studio from now on. Besides the obvious reasons, you choose a tattoo studio for the relationship you can build with your artist. Case in point, I visited a parlor on westheimer when I first moved to Houston. The experience was awkward. I felt like I was bothering the tattoo artist by just walking in and asking if he had time; oh and the place was empty and he was sitting on his phone. Not knowing any better, I went ahead and got a tattoo there and THAT was an awkward experience in itself. Same thing, I tried to chat it up with him, but he wanted no part in that conversation. Too late to walk out, but I'll never go back there. Fast forward a couple of years and I start getting that itch again. So I ask my barber (one of the main men a man can trust), Danny Love from Cutthroat, if he recommended any parlor and he tells me about Red Dagger. I saw all I needed from their Instagram profile. A couple of different artists each with their own unique style. I really liked the way Abel drew flowers, so I contacted him for a session. Heres a hint as to how popular they are: I had to book him almost three months in advance. At least I had time to plan my trip all the way out to Clear Lake. Abel is a real down to earth guy, the type of person you don't mind putting a permanent mark on your body, unlike that other guy from westheimer. He worked on for about 4 hours and always made sure I was comfortable. So yes, it's a little far, but it's worth it. Also, the other staff there are really nice people. Very down to earth. Now i do not expect treatment like this all the time but when i was waiting to get my tattoo i was the only person in the shop. Bobby and Madelyn were in there preparing for their tattoos later in the day and watching tv. They invited me back to hangout until it was time for me to get my tattoo. I had a great experience here with Remo Grilli. It was easy peasy to get an appointment for a consultation, and after that he got me in for my actual tattoo within a couple of weeks. When I got there, the receptionist was super nice and got my paperwork done quickly and efficiently. Remo made sure the experience was as comfortable as possible, and every other artist I spoke to was friendly. I will probably be back to see another artist for some color work. For the reviewers that say this place is unprofessional, my mind is boggled. This is the most professional tattoo shop I have EVER been to, and I have been to quite a few. Yes, they take non-refundable deposits (which they are pretty reasonable about. If you have a real emergency, they understand), and for good reason. All too often, people make an appointment with a tattooer, have them spend lots of time drawing something up, and then never show. Or cancel an hour before an appointment because (and I have heard this one before) "I can't take that much out of the ATM on a Sunday". This is their job, you know. These are people with families to feed. You not showing up causes them to lose a day's pay, they are not salaried employees! Secondly, this is a custom shop made up of world-renowned tattoo artists. There are so many first place trophies in the lobby, it would take hours to look at them all. One of the cool things about becoming known for being a master at your craft is that you can take on only the projects that interest you. For instance, Mick Jagger doesn't have to write a hip hop record just because John Smith down the street would like him to. For every artist that isn't interested in your tattoo idea, there may be five really good ones that would be excited to do it. I know it probably hurts your feelings, but it doesn't mean you have a stupid idea, just that you probably have different interests. THIS IS OKAY. Find someone you mesh with, and smile. This is a fantastic tattoo shop. I live about an hour away from the shop itself, but it was worth the drive. I heard about this place through some friends of mine so I decided to get some work done here. The place is super clean and honestly it's just the right size for a tattoo shop. It isn't too crowded. I'll admit I got a little lost at first when I was looking for the shop because it's mixed in with other small businesses. But I'm telling you, it's worth the drive (if you live far) and wait (because I know they book really fast with their artists). I was lucky enough to make an appointment with one of the artists who had some time available. My artist, Ringo, was very accommodating and gave me exactly what I wanted. I definitely would love to return and get tattooed by the other artists because I know their style varies and each and every one of them are extremely talented. If I could rate zero stars I would, I scheduled an appointment with Ringo at 6 and I didn't get sat down to be tattooed until 8. When I came in for my appointment he was still tattooing his previous client. He didn't introduce himself to me and didn't even talk to me about my tattoo until an hour after I arrived. He then proceeded to tell me that he was going to redesign my tattoo while he ate his lunch. I understand needing to redraw the tattoo but there was no respect for the appointment or the customer. He only apologized for making me wait 2 hours in passing while he was putting on the stencil. The only reason I didn't leave is because I didn't want to lose my deposit. I had a friend that was tattooed by him as well and the same thing happened to her, meaning this is not a one time occurrence. Even once is too many. The tattoo itself is great but I would not want to give any more money or publicity to an artist who has no respect for his clients or the appointments he sets up for them. I've walked into studios with no appointment and was tattooed within a lesser wait time than this. read more

After texting him with a few ideas, we set up an appointment about a month out. When the day finally arrived, not only was Adrian's design everything we dreamed of and more, he was also professional and made us feel really comfortable. I've been here more than I've been anywhere else and my go-to artist goes by the name Ringo Leone. When my prior artist disappaeared off the face of the earth (with my deposit) and left me with a half-finished tattoo, Steven Compton was gracious enough to step in and finish what was started. He did a fantastic job and was always professional, which is why I went back for another tattoo just by him alone (it's an ongoing project). They are soooo unprofessional !!! I had an appointment set for sep 20th! And I even deposited 50$ for the appointment alone! The artist named Aaron never even gave me his number in case I needed to call him, if someone already deposited 50$ shouldn't he atleast give me his number to contact him in case of emergency?! No! I even tried calling up the parlor 5+ times to let them know that my phone was stolen! What's the point of having your number posted online if you can't even reach the parlor!? Ugh I'm so done with this place . I suggest going to another place to get your tattoos, it may be good, but 50$ just to make an appointment and not being able to reach the artist is RIDICULOUS!!!!!! After reading two of the reviews here I'm glad I never gotten as far as setting a deposit for a scheduled appointment. Since this tattoo studio is far from me I decided to email Aaron Springs with my idea for a tattoo per his websites instructions. He turned down the idea which I thought was a little strange. Judging by the other reviews had I gone in he probably would have scheduled an accepted the deposit only to cancel/reschedule and drawn up something I wouldn't be happy with getting tattooed on me. It's sad because the quality of artwork posted is rather amazing. If you aren't getting what you want tattooed on you then it isn't worth it no matter the cost. He was late to the scheduled time - about an hour or so due to having to drive two hours to get to the shop - but he definitely made it up with his work. I don't get the bad reviews because this is honestly one of the best (if not the best) group of artists Houston has to offer. And this is coming from a collector who has dealt with nearly every other kind of shop out there. They are very professional and the quality is superb. Just check out their portfolios on Facebook or Instagram and if you know tattoos, you will see that theirs are definitely top of the line. DO NOT GO HERE. -the shop is about the size of a shoebox, you're practically getting tattooed on top of someone else. -that is if your willing to make an appointment and then wait the 4 months for availability. -I have had 2 pieces done by Shawn Will here. He does decent work but when I needed a touch up for spots he missed he put me on a 5 month waiting list BUT I would constantly see him post his personal drawings on FB and say "I'd really like to tattoo this on someone tomorrow" so he obviously has time to do his "own work". Take your money somewhere with a more personal, down to earth staff that will be much more welcoming. When you go to this studio you just kinda stand around in this small shop and hopefully someone MIGHT come ask you what you want. read more
