It is obvious the hospital is budgeting sometimes due to the detriment of the patients. They helped me save my legs as I had infections, yet I dismissed several doctors because they did not handle my blood sugar well. I could barely walk--I was so weak and had to use a commode instead of the bathroom the full time I was there. The hospital policy is 140-200 blood sugar is considered under control when I get serious complications if my blood sugar is more than 120. I finally received good doctors that set me also up with the Ophthalmology where I went during my stay at the hospital. The pain killers were mostly a joke, and i called the police twice about it--not receiving all of my pain killers, had to hear moaning in pain from other patients--called the police about that too, as one 80 + year-old with hip surgery was complaining about the pain and the nurses (not the Filipino nurses) just left her and did not return. They do not have diabetic food but the regular food was decent. the diabetic marginalization was not because of the chef or cooking staff but hospital policy, and people are not allowed to order food or anything else from outside for delivery to the hospital room due to security. How weird is that, supposedly Cooperstown Hospital has security issues. The nursing staff is discouraged from wearing face masks when they care for wounded people. The first time I was discharged, I had not my pain meds, a visiting homecare nurse had to help me get the prescription to my pharmacy. Anyway--part of the stay felt great like a five-star health spa--had a great huge window view of scenery, cable TV, and felt pampered--the other part was a horror of pain and having to find better doctors. For a day or two, I even had a troll in my shared room mumbling. i was able to work online from the hospital with my laptop but the hospital does not give out laptops for people to use, one must bring one's own laptop. I am still healing at home and have visiting nurses three times a week. My health insurance is not that great, but with prayers it worked out. However, I still have to fully recover and I have serious eye problems they are trying to take care of. Praying for the good health of everyone ad myself.

When I called and said I was planning on paying out of pocket they told me I wasn't allowed to pay bc of the type of insurance I have . What in the world does that mean . Anyways I won't be trying to come to Bassett again . Terrible way to handle people who have been waiting to see a doctor for months . Don't waste your time here , go somewhere else .

Their knowledge, skill and attentiveness are absolutely the best. Dana and the other therapists genuinely care that their patients get the relief and gain the physical strength necessary for their recovery. The therapist works with only you for your entire session, which I know from personal experience is not how all facilities schedule their patients. IMO this is an awesome benefit. The environment is professional but relaxed and friendly. Lisa, the friendly face behind the desk is helpful and efficient when checking you in or handling any billing/scheduling issues etc. The only reason I did not give a five star rating is due to the physical facility itself requiring some much needed attention and sprucing up.
