I paid $250 total -- $75 to Jennifer in advance and $175 directly to the entertainer on the day of the party. I did not pay $175 as stated in her response. I also was never told that I was booking a trainee or that a trainee would arrive without the attire, table/chair setup, or level of service the owner had described. Had that been communicated before I booked, I would have chosen another company. The owner initially acknowledged to me in writing that she had missed my requests and failed to communicate the level of service I was booking. I stand by my original review and unfortunately would not recommend this company based on my experience. Original Post: Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our experience. We paid $250 for two hours of face painting and balloon twisting for my son's birthday party. On the company's intake form, I specifically selected that we wanted the entertainer to arrive in costume and that she would need to bring her own table. Neither happened. The entertainer arrived in jeans and a gray college sweatshirt with no company attire or costume, and without a table or even a chair for herself. She had only a small tray for her supplies, so I had to find a bench and figure out where to set her up. She was pleasant and the face painting and balloons themselves were fine, but there was very little engagement or presence as a party entertainer. Several guests didn't realize she was the entertainer, and I spent time directing parents and children over to her instead of enjoying my son's party. When I contacted the owner afterward, she initially apologized and acknowledged that she had missed my requests on the intake form and that the communication failure was on her end. She also explained that their artists normally arrive in company attire. I was then told that the person sent to our party was actually a trainee and that trainees do not bring tables, chairs, specific attire, or costumes. This was never disclosed to me before booking. Had I known I was paying $250 for a trainee with a substantially different level of service, I would have chosen one of the other entertainment companies we were considering. I understand that mistakes happen, and the entertainer herself was perfectly nice. My disappointment is with paying for one experience, receiving something very different, and only learning afterward that we had been assigned a trainee. Unfortunately, I would not book with this company again.

Her funeral service will be held next Friday, April 5, 2024 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 2245 - 82nd Avenue, Oakland. A Yelp search of the closest florist to the church is Marietta's Florist & Gifts. Location: 7219 International Blvd. aka E. 14th Street. Nearest cross street is 73rd Avenue. After perusing several of the 5 star reviews, and this floral business is about 12 blocks away, I decided with the help of my dear friend to select a funeral floral arrangement from Marietta's. The owner, Marietta, was the consummate profession, showing the various beautiful floral arrangement on her tablet. I knew what I wanted and in the colors that represent our school and the Class of 1970. I also showed Marietta a few of the floral arrangements from Oakland Florist (Oakland Chinatown). She was familiar with that business. Thus, the flowers would be in purple, lavender, yellow and white. (Purple and lavender roses, white stargazer lilies and carnations, yellow carnations and gradiolus.) The sash is white with gold trim. Letterings: Oakland Tech Class of 1970. Cost of the arrangement was $221.50 (tax included). My friend and I did get a few business cards for any of our classmates and friends who might be interested in patronizing Marietta's Florist and Gifts for any special occasion.
