I'm a skeptic. When Sara first approached me about helping with the arthritis in my hands, I was doubtful. Being the child of Western medicine, both my parents were educate at SF med Center, I am cautious about alternative approaches to health care. Dr. Sara Mizner L.Ac., changed my mind, though, with the very first visit. Feeling like Edward Scissor Hands, needles poking out everywhere, I kept trying to justify the Western reason why this should work. An hour after I left her office, I couldn't care less what the reason was. It worked. My hands were relatively pain free. Better than they have been in years. She also gave me magnesium gel to rub in whenever I get a flair up. From there she moved on to my neck, back and legs. Her education and experience told her that I was losing muscle mass in my legs and with some off hours research, she deduced I was having a reaction to one of my medicines. My primary care provider confirmed and 6 months later the muscle has returned. I trust Sara with my health and my life. She is professional, kind, caring, and talented. Each pointy needle jab, I know, will make me feel better. I am addicted to acupuncture now, and can't wait for my next regular appointment with Sara. I give her two, pain free, thumbs up. read more

It was a pleasure working with Hilary. She's very knowledgable, genuine and a great listener. I always looked forward to my acupuncture sessions that ended with gua sha and cupping. I've been working with Sara Mizner for the last couple of years. I started going to help rejeuvenate myself after one knee replacement and prepare for the second. We've also worked on blood flow, stress, stomach/healthy gut issues. I cannot recommend Sara enough. I've been to four different acupuncturists over the years, all with good results, but I like the calmess of the office from the moment I walk in. I appreciate how carefully Sara listens and responds to my questions. And she never makes me feel bad about myself. I think it's easy to do when you're delaing with someone who has lots of things happening with their bodies that they don't always understand or know how to explain. She uses herbs from another source (the other acupunturists I've seen create their own blends) which doesn't bother me, and the blends have been spot on for what I need at the time. read more

I did not have a good an experience with Sara from Heaven and Earth. Our appointment began 15 minutes late. Early in the appointment she made a point of saying that she was a white body, I was a black body, and there was a power dynamic. The implication being that we didn't need to have that. It made me uncomfortable because it felt performative and unconcerned with how saying that might land for me. I didn't come here to talk about racism with a stranger. After the appointment I emailed her to say that it made me uncomfortable and to also ask questions about herbs she sent me home with (we were so rushed when she gave me herbs that she told me to google how to use one of them.) Long story short after two weeks, a few emails, and what felt like increasingly passive aggressive behavior, I spent $100 on herbs I won't use and I'm moving on from this practice feeling demoralized, disrespected, and exhausted. Ultimately as a Black Woman this isn't an environment that I can do healing work in. I won't be back and it felt important to me to share why. read more

Hilary at Heaven and Earth is a kind, compassionate knowledgeable acupuncturist. I've been struggling with walking without pain for over a year and my symptoms are not consistent. Hillary asks questions and listens to my "complaints of the week" and adjusts my treatment accordingly. I've had about 7 acupuncture treatments thus far and am already walking better than I have been for the past 12 months. In addition as she says "I am not in this to make money." I cannot recommend Heaven and Earth highly enough! Hilary is incredible and I've recommended her to several friends. After years being super active (yoga, running, biking) I injured my back. I went to Physical Therapy but saw little improvement 6 months after doing all the exercises prescribed. I had always been a little wary of acupuncture, but since I was desperate I decided to branch out. I'm so lucky that when I decided to try it for the first time I met Hilary! She totally set me at ease, explaining everything we could do to treat my back and making it clear we would only do what I was comfortable with. We talk before every session, and she always makes sure to get a thorough understanding of how I'm doing and what my body needs on that given day. Wow! What a great experience. I'm recovering from knee replacement surgery and was looking for some help reducing inflammation in my knee. Sara has been straightforward, knowledgeable and really helpful/comforting. With each treatment I'm noticing significant improvement in my knee. The immediate pain reduction is great, but the continuing reduction in swelling is aiding in improving my range of motion. Plus I just leave feeling better. Notably, Sara was very thorough reviewing my health history and tailored my treatment to a couple of other chronic issues I struggle with (digestion related). I'd had a flare-up before visiting her, but things have been great since. The knee treatment is more noticeable, but any help in my gut is welcome. I'll be back soon. read more

Going to Hilary for acupuncture is my favorite part of the week. This was my first experience with acupuncture and she made me feel completely comfortable and explained everything she was doing. She genuinely cares. I came to her with sciatic pain and after a few months it was gone. It was also a huge bonus for me that she takes insurance. A lot of acupuncturists don't. Been coming here a out a year, on and off. recently decided to come weekly because I'm so pleased with the efficacy of the treatment. Sara is my acupuncturist and she's by far the best one I've had. I saw Sara when I was 10 days past my due date and three hours later I was in labor. Three hours after that, there was a baby in my arms! And I'm really think it was the acupuncture that finally told my body it could relax and let labor kick in. The treatment Sara gave me was both calming and stimulating and she made me feel very at ease in an otherwise anxiety-filled time. OK, so I have seen different acupuncturists in the East Bay for 12 years now. I have had really good and decent acupuncturists in that time. Recently a friend told me about Sara at Heaven & Earth, and let me know that the experience with her was truly a highlight of her life. Seeing a so-so acupuncturist at this time, I took her word and made an appt. I had several random things ailing me and sat down with Sara and she patiently listened and asked me question after question about each item. The questions seemed random, but I trust she knows what she is doing/asking. She then got to work and after a truly magical session, I left feeling physically and mentally shining. Really. I saw her again a week and a half later, and same thing...one of the things that is ailing me is much better, and I attribute this to Sara. (Is it weird that I don't want to put it here because I don't want the rest of the world to know my ailments?? I know...usually not a private person, but just seems weird to share all this, and prob irrelevant) Sara is down to earth, an A++ listener, and you can feel her empathy in speaking to her. Sara Mizner is excellent at what she does! She is incredibly genuine with her work, is exceptionally well informed, and is always looking to find the next new angle to treat whatever condition you may have. Her approach runs the gamut of possibilities. I started seeing Sara for some older scar tissue that I wanted to assist in healing. We alternate between 4 or so different techniques which have all shown to work excellently. I recently strained my foot, and her acupuncture techniques have worked tremendously to reduce the inflammation. I recommend Sara to everyone I know that suffers from almost any condition. Hilary has helped me with a serious of different chronic pain conditions caused by work-related repetitive strain. She was recommended to me by a close friend, and it was one of the best recommendations I have received. She is not only an intuitive and empathetic healer, you can also tell that she is very passionate about what she does.
