The furniture/fireplaces and hot tubs purchased at this store are not all made in the USA as their owner Don claims them to be. He just takes the manufacturers stickers off them so you are none the wiser. Everything that you purchase from this store you can buy the exact same thing at a cheaper price elsewhere. I studied up on what I wanted from several sources. I decided to call this establishment. I followed up on a phone call made the day before regarding electric wall hanging fireplaces. They (she) priced what I was interested in on hand in store. While they advertised a small scale sale price, they advised they'd be willing to negotiate further price reduction as they had to make room for newer/other models. However, after driving out the next day and asking her about negotiating in person, she politely refused. Seems to me a bait and switch. We didn't see the product we previously asked about on the phone as in store. She reneged on negotiating any of their models she did show. I'm sure they're a capable, higher end store. Just be warned to pay top sticker price even with their so called sales (Still to high), and don't fall for any negotiating promises made pre-arrival. read more

I love this shop! I no longer live in Michigan but I always stop by when I am in the area. I have always received a friendly greeting when i walk in to Heat 'N Sweep. There seems to be little staff turnover because I normally see the same people even though I shop there infrequently. I am usually "just browsing" and after a brief conversation with the person/persons who approached me, I am left alone to browse for as long as I like. I purchased a Homecrest patio set with swivel/sling style chairs at Heat 'N Sweep several years ago. This set has moved from Michigan, to my deck in Missouri and is now on my porch in Maine. Even with the moves, it has not required any type of adjustment. The chairs are the most comfortable patio chairs I have ever sat in. I clean them in the spring with soap and water and they still look like new. They were more expensive than the brands carried at other stores but the price was very reasonable for the quality of the product. I have been very pleased with my purchase. On one of my return trips to the area, I purchased a mosaic table and two chairs. I had always admired the sets when i browsed at the store and I wanted one for my front porch in Missouri. After determining that the purchase would fit into my vehicle, it was carefully wrapped and loaded by the friendly warehouse staff and made the trip to my front porch without a scratch. I was given a "thank you for your purchase" gift bag that contained a nice bottle of wine and some other items. Since then, I have added a bench and the plant stand and as always, have been very pleased with the quality. One time during a power outage shortly after I moved to Missouri, I called the store with questions about manually starting the gas insert in my fireplace that was normally controlled by an electrical switch. I was given step-by-step instructions over the phone and the staff member stayed on the phone with me until I had successfully started the fire. The unit obviously was not purchased from them but they still provided me with friendly, knowledgeable service. Because I live out of state, I'm unable to purchase several of the items that I admire when i stop in or peruse their web site. I'd love to own one of the Arctic spas and some of the Lloyd Flanders furniture that is on display. On one of my visits, there happened to be a cooking demonstration on one of the outdoor kitchens. The food was excellent and I added the unit to my "if i ever move back to Michigan, I want to buy that" list. If you do have the advantage of living in the area, I highly recommend checking out this store. read more

My husband and I did a lot of research on hot tubs and decided to check out Arctic Spas which is only sold by Heat N Sweep in our area. Kathy our salesperson was fantastic and very helpful. As the previous reviewer noted, Don (the owner) is into the high pressure sale and is "smarmy". We were supposed to get the hot tub by Christmas. When we hadn't heard anything by the second week in January, I called and was told they would check on it. They did call back and we scheduled a delivery date. Upon delivery the set-up guys were friendly and helpful, but they left before the tub was full, so didn't test it. When it was full, we turned it on and it didn't work! My husband called Heat N Sweep and they were very rude and said our electrician must have done something wrong. By the way, we hired a certified Master electrician who was very qualified and expensive. My husband called the electrician who had to come all the way back (more expense for us). He double checked everything and found everything to be wired correctly, so he called Heat N Sweep. They were rude to him as well and actually questioned his qualifications! Before he left he decided to check the fuses and found one to be burned out. My husband ran to the store and bought fuses. With the fuse replaced, the pumps circulated, but the hot tub still didn't run. My husband called Heat N Sweep back and the soonest they could schedule someone to come out for service was 5 days later. So, no enjoying our new tub. Very disappointing. When the service guy came out he found the circuit board to be bad as well as several other things. He actually said he had 4 other circuit boards to repair or replace and thought it might be an Arctic Spa problem. The lights and wi-fi also didn't work. He didn't have all of the parts needed so he called Heat N Sweep and they had to send a guy out with the additional parts. They finally got everything working and we were able to finally use our hot tub the next evening. Today my husband received a strange call from Don (the owner) at Heat N Sweep. He said they were sending the circuit board in to Arctic Spa but that if they couldn't find anything wrong with it we would essentially be responsible for paying for the new circuit board ( $600)! Absolutely ridiculous after all we've already been through with this. My husband was furious. You would think that paying over $10k for a high quality spa that everything would be covered by warranty until they actually got it set up and running. Very disappointing quality and service. Kathy has been their one saving grace. Hoping we don't continue to have problems as we have to use them for service. read more

This was our first experience with Heat and Sweep and it was a bit of a roller coaster ride. My husband and I decided we wanted to purchase a nice firepit table and did a lot of online searching for the type that we wanted. We have an outdoor living room with a finite amount of space for this so we needed the right size table. We decided to head to Heat and Sweep to check out what they had to offer. While their quality is the highest of any patio type furniture or accessories in town, boy oh boy the salespeople (I think ours was the owner actually) leave a lot to be desired. Don Davis, I think possibly the owner, worked with us and I can honestly say I have never dealt with a more high pressure, smarmy type of guy. He continuously put pressure on us to buy a table despite the one we were looking at being large and round (we needed small and square). After finding us something we liked in a catalogue which is hard to get a feel for... he kept hounding us over and over saying "Come on!! Just put it on your credit card!! I found you a small square one! This is BullS$%T! Just put it on your card!" I promise you...that is an actual quote! We finally decided to do it after a lot of pressure. It's a pretty big purchase...$2500. One we don't take lightly. Once we made the purchase, he told us it would be delivered in 2 weeks. It is now 6 and a half weeks later and we are just getting delivery today. The only saving grace for this store is Kathy, who called me several times per week to track and follow up on the hold up with the table and apologize. Finally, she threw in an extra propane tank for it as a good will gesture. The guys that did the delivery were outstanding and took great care to place the table just right and give me a detailed review of how everything worked. They also presented me with a "Thank You" gift bag with wine and a few other small goodies in it. What started out as a less than satisfactory experience ended well. The table is beautiful and perfect for our space. But it was a tough road getting there. They do have very nice quality patio furniture here and seem to have a monopoly in this town on this sort of quality. I could even forgive the delay of the table had it not been for the completely off putting sales pressure put on us and false promises at the outset. read more

Wonderful experience! My husband and I were looking for an electric fireplace that also served as a media console for our flat screen. We looked online but you really can't tell from pictures so we went in to Heat n Sweep because they are the local dealer for the one we thought we liked. Everyone there was so helpful, kind, and knowledgeable! And they even served us refreshments!! They had to order the fireplace we wanted but delivered it (and set it up, I might add) faster than what they promised! Their whole staff was so friendly, and they made everything so easy! We will definitely be back for some of their gorgeous outdoor furniture! read more

Very bad experience with trying to get a fireplace installed. The communication between the store and their contractors lead to so many errors! We bought the fireplace in October and it was just finished installing in March. The contractor had to rebuild several times because of the poor communication! Very upset with the overall service, we decided on Heat and Sweep because we thought they specialized in fireplaces and we could avoid these issues! In the end, paid way more than we were initially told and are still left with something we aren't happy with. We won't be recommending them to anyone or dealing with them again in the future. *Update 5/2/16: Heat and Sweep attempted to make things slightly better by offering to cover some of the additional expenses that were accrued during installation. I appreciate them attempting to work with us, and increased their rating to 2 stars for this. However we just contacted an outside contractor to finish the drywall work from Heat and Sweeps contractor and was told it was "the worst job he'd ever seen." There are apparently several areas that will need to be fixed and multiple areas that were "pieced together in a lazy way". This is even more disappointing as we had no idea what drywall should look like and just assumed their professional contractor would do it properly. Again left very disappointed with our entire experience and left with an unfinished fireplace that wasn't properly built and will cost even more to be finished correctly. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Heat'n Sweep, from the initial visit to delivery they wowed us. We had been shopping around for a new patio set and fell in love with a beautiful cast aluminum one. We love to entertain and this was a large table with six chairs. The quality is amazing and the chairs are very comfortable. Kathy took the time to find us the perfect products, she was friendly and knowledgeable.The owner Don was very kind and made sure the entire shopping experience was above and beyond our expectations.The Table and chairs were quickly delivered and with a thank you gift, which made it extra special. Heat n' Sweep did a great job for us with the Arctic Spa swim spa purchase/installation. The experience has been terrific--no pressure, helpfulness to a fault. The spa came with some wrong software and Heat n' Sweep came all the way to Royal Oak to swap/reinstall. No questions asked, and the software works perfectly now. The swim spa is wonderful, too--Arctic Spa seems like a great company with an outstanding product for cold climates. The prior reviewer cited Kathy Lott's helpfulness and I agree wholeheartedly. We have been shopping at Heat and Sweep for maybe 20 years. We have always been very happy with the service and quality of our purchases. We have bought patio furniture, umbrellas, fireplaces, Saphire grill etc but not a spa yet but we wouldn't go anywhere else to get one. They have always stood behind there products and have taken care of any concerns we might have had. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful. I don't know everyones names but Kathy and Cory have always been great. The delivery people are awesome too and take good care of you. Quality staff!! Quality store!! read more
